Abstract
An efficient protocol has been developed for the preparation of π-extended N-heterocycles involving a Rh(III)-catalyzed C-H activation reaction starting from 3-acetamidocoumarins and internal alkynes. The isolation of the intermediate pyrrolo-coumarin suggests that the -COCH3 group in acetamidocoumarins performs the role of a traceless directing group. Besides, the use of commercially available [Cp*RhCl2]2 adds more importance as no additional modification of the catalyst is required. A two-step protocol bearing intermediate pyrrolo-coumarin can be further functionalized to highly decorated heterocyclic moieties materializing sp2 C-H and sp2 N-H coupling. Moreover, one of the pyrrolo-coumarin compounds (3da) is capable of differentiating between Cr(III) and Cr(VI) ions as revealed via fluorescence spectroscopy. In addition, intermediate pyrrolo-coumarin is further functionalized to spirocyclic N-heterocycles.

Abstract
Cobalt precatalysts for the meta-selective borylation of fluorinated arenes are described. Initial screening and stoichiometric reactivity studies culminated in the preparation of a cobalt alkyl precatalyst supported by the sterically protected terpyridine (5,5″-Me2ArTpy = 4'-(4-N,N'-dimethylaminophenyl)-5,5″-dimethyl-2,2':6',2″-terpyridine). Under the optimized conditions, borylation with this precatalyst afforded up to 16 turnovers and near-exclusive meta regioselectivity with a range of substituted fluoroarenes in cyclopentyl methyl ether solvent at room temperature. Deuterium kinetic isotope effects of 2.9(2) at 23 °C support a turnover-limiting and selectivity-determining C(sp2)-H activation step, and stoichiometric C-H activation experiments provided insights into the identity of the C-H activating intermediate in catalysis. Analysis of the relevant Co-C and C-H bond thermodynamics support that the thermodynamics of C-H activation favor ortho-to-fluorine selectivity, providing additional, indirect support for kinetic control of C-H activation as the origin of meta selectivity.

Abstract
Directed C-H functionalization has been realized as a complimentary technique to achieve borylation at a distal position of aliphatic amines. Here, we demonstrated the oxidative borylation at the distal δ-position of aliphatic amines using various borylating agents, a palladium catalyst, and a rightly tuned ligand in the presence of a cheap oxidant. Moreover, an organopalladium δ-C(sp3 )-H-activated intermediate has been isolated and crystallographically characterized to get mechanistic insight.

Abstract
Synthetic and mechanistic investigations into the C(sp2)-H borylation of various electronically diverse arenes catalyzed by bis(phosphine)pyridine (iPrPNP) cobalt complexes are reported. Borylation of various benzoate esters and arylboronate esters gave remarkably high selectivities for the position para to the functional group; in both cases, this regioselectivity was found to override the ortho to fluorine regioselectivity previously reported for (iPrPNP)Co borylation catalysts which arises from thermodynamic control of C(sp2)-H oxidative addition. Mechanistic studies support two distinct pathways that result in para-to-ester and para-to-boronate ester regioselectivity by thermodynamic and kinetic control, respectively, of C(sp2)-H oxidative addition. Borylation of a particularly electron-deficient fluorinated arylboronate ester resulted in acceleration of C(sp2)-H oxidative addition and concomitant inversion of regioselectivity, demonstrating that subtle changes in the relative rates of individual steps of the catalytic cycle can enable unique and switchable site selectivities.

Abstract
An iridium-catalyzed selective ortho-monoiodination of benzoic acids with two equivalent C-H bonds is presented. A wide range of electron-rich and electron-poor substrates undergo the reaction under mild conditions, with >20:1 mono/di selectivity. Importantly, the C-H iodination occurs selectively ortho to the carboxylic acid moiety in substrates bearing competing coordinating directing groups. The reaction is performed at room temperature and no inert atmosphere or exclusion of moisture is required. Mechanistic investigations revealed a substrate-dependent reversible C-H activation/protodemetalation step, a substrate-dependent turnover-limiting step, and the crucial role of the AgI additive in the deactivation of the iodination product towards further reaction.

Abstract
This communication describes an efficient palladium pincer complex-catalyzed allylic C-H borylation of alkenes. The transformation exhibits high regio- and stereoselectivity with a variety of linear alkenes. A synthetically useful feature of this allylic C-H borylation method is that all allyl-Bpin products can be isolated in usually high yields. Preliminary mechanistic studies indicate that this C-H borylation reaction proceeds via Pd(IV) pincer complex intermediates.

Abstract
A chiral PdII -catalyzed cascade sp2 C-H functionalization/intramolecular asymmetric allylation reaction is reported. A new chiral sulfoxide-oxazoline (SOX) ligand bearing single chiral center on the sulfur was identified as the optimal ligand for the reaction, being efficient both in the C-H cleavage step and the stereocontrol of the allylation step. The broad scope of this method with respect to aryl ureas and 1,3-dienes enables the rapid construction of valuable chiral indoline derivatives with high yields and enantioselectivities (up to 99 % yield, up to 95:5 e.r.).

Abstract
An efficient, regioselective synthesis of fluorine-substituted arylboronic esters was achieved through fluorine-controlled C-H borylation of arenes with diboron catalyzed by a PSiN-platinum complex. The promising utility of the PSiN-platinum catalyst and its unique regioselectivity were demonstrated for the first time, which would complement the well-developed Ir-catalyzed C-H borylation.

Abstract
A quinoline-based ligand effectively promotes the palladium-catalyzed borylation of C(sp(3))-H bonds. Primary β-C(sp(3))-H bonds in carboxylic acid derivatives as well as secondary C(sp(3))-H bonds in a variety of carbocyclic rings, including cyclopropanes, cyclobutanes, cyclopentanes, cyclohexanes, and cycloheptanes, can thus be borylated. This directed borylation method complements existing iridium(I)- and rhodium(I)-catalyzed C-H borylation reactions in terms of scope and operational conditions.

Abstract
The regiodivergent C-H borylation of 2,5-disubstituted heteroarenes with bis(pinacolato)diboron was achieved by using iridium catalysts formed in situ from [Ir(OMe)(cod)]2 /dtbpy (cod=1,5-cyclooctadiene, dtbpy: 4,4'-di-tert-butyl-2,2'-bipyridine) or [Ir(OMe)(cod)]2 /2 AsPh3 . When [Ir(OMe)(cod)]2 /dtbpy was used as the catalyst, borylation at the 4-position proceeded selectively to afford 4-borylated products in high yields (dtbpy system A). The regioselectivity changed when the [Ir(OMe)(cod)]2 /2 AsPh3 catalyst was used; 3-borylated products were obtained in high yields with high regioselectivity (AsPh3 system B). The regioselectivity of borylation was easily controlled by changing the ligands. This reaction was used in the syntheses of two different bioactive compound analogues by using the same starting material.

Abstract
Dimeric rhodium N-heterocyclic carbene complexes are demonstrated to be effective catalyst precursors for directed C-H borylation reactions at room temperature. The reactions are highly selective for mono-borylation and can be combined with a one-pot Suzuki-Miyaura coupling to give C-H arylation products with exclusive selectivity for mono-arylation without the requirement for steric blocking groups.
