Abstract
In this study, a magnetic asymmetric Salamo-based Zn complex (H2L = salen type di-Schiff bases)-supported on the surface of modified Fe3O4 (Fe3O4@H2L-Zn) as a new catalyst was designed and characterized via numerous analytical techniques such as FT-IR spectroscopy, XRD, EDS, ICP-AES, SEM, TEM, TGA and VSM. An efficient and sustainable synthetic protocol has been presented for the synthesis of silyl ether substructures via the silyl protection of alcohols under mild conditions. The synthetic protocol involves a two-component solvent-free reaction between various hydroxyl-bearing substrates and hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS) as an inexpensive silylating agent using Fe3O4@H2L-Zn MNPs as a magnetically separable, recyclable and reusable heterogeneous catalyst. Fe3O4@H2L-Zn MNPs were also applied for the removal of silyl protecting groups from hydroxyl functions using water in CH2Cl2 under green conditions. The catalyst demonstrated good to excellent catalytic yield efficiency for both the reactions compared to the commercial metal-based catalysts under green conditions for a wide range of substrates.

Abstract
A method for the synthesis of benzylsilanes starting from the corresponding ammonium triflates is reported. Silyl boronic esters are employed as silicon pronucleophiles, and the reaction is catalyzed by copper(I) salts. Enantioenriched benzylic ammonium salts react stereospecifically through an SN 2-type displacement of the ammonium group to afford α-chiral silanes with inversion of the configuration. A cyclopropyl-substituted substrate does not undergo ring opening, thus suggesting an ionic reaction mechanism with no benzyl radical intermediate.

Abstract
Transition-metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions are central to many organic synthesis methodologies. Traditionally, Pd, Ni, Cu, and Fe catalysts are used to promote these reactions. Recently, many studies have showed that both homogeneous and heterogeneous Au catalysts can be used for activating selective cross-coupling reactions. Here, an overview of the past studies, current trends, and future directions in the field of gold-catalyzed coupling reactions is presented. Design strategies to accomplish selective homocoupling and cross-coupling reactions under both homogeneous and heterogeneous conditions, computational and experimental mechanistic studies, and their applications in diverse fields are critically reviewed. Specific topics covered are: oxidant-assisted and oxidant-free reactions; strain-assisted reactions; dual Au and photoredox catalysis; bimetallic synergistic reactions; mechanisms of reductive elimination processes; enzyme-mimicking Au chemistry; cluster and surface reactions; and plasmonic catalysis. In the relevant sections, theoretical and computational studies of AuI /AuIII chemistry are discussed and the predictions from the calculations are compared with the experimental observations to derive useful design strategies.

Abstract
The present work reports the processing of laser irradiated Si arrays (LISi) and underlines their surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) functionality. A nanostructured Si/SiOx surface forms providing additional fluidic and photoprotective properties. Because of their optical and surface characteristics, the arrays exhibit a SERS analytical enhancing factor of 500, without any noble metals such as gold or silver. Micro-Raman maps allowed studying LISi properties, identifying maximum amplification in nanostructured areas characterized by the presence of 7 nm Si nanocrystals. These structures are confined by a SiOx layer as illustrated by XPS valence band measurements. The highly hydrophilic LISi areas allow a pre-concentration of target molecules prior to SERS analysis. A relevant application of LISi was found in the detection of apomorphine (APO), a drug used for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. In contrast with what is obtained by using gold SERS substrates, LISi allows the detection of APO with no sign of oxidation. This invites for the use of the Si/SiOx SERS detection in future systems for the personalized delivery of APO.

Abstract
Disiloxanes possessing a silicon-oxygen linkage are important as frameworks for functional materials and coupling partners for Hiyama-type cross coupling. We found that disiloxanes were effectively constructed of hydrosilanes catalyzed by gold on carbon in water as the solvent and oxidant in association with the emission of hydrogen gas at room temperature. The present oxidation could proceed via various reaction pathways, such as the hydration of hydrosilane into silanol, dehydrogenative coupling of hydrosilane into disilane, and the subsequent corresponding reactions to disiloxane. Additionally, the platinum on carbon catalyzed hydrogen-deuterium exchange reaction of arylhydrosilanes as substrates in heavy water proceeded on the aromatic nuclei at 80 °C with high deuterium efficiency and high regioselectivity at the only meta and para positions of the aromatic-silicon bond to give the deuterium-labeled disiloxanes.

Abstract
A hetero-oligophenylene derivative 3 has been designed and synthesized which forms fluorescent spherical aggregates in mixed aqueous media due to its aggregation-induced emission enhancement characteristics. These fluorescent aggregates act as a ratiometric probe for the detection of gold ions in aqueous media and serve as reactors and stabilizers for the preparation of gold nanoparticles. The in situ generated gold nanoparticles have been decorated on multiwalled carbon nanotubes to form AuNPs@MWCNTs nanohybrid materials, which serve as recyclable photocatalysts for carrying out degradation of rhodamine dye in aqueous media.
