Abstract
Treatment of a κ1-P-monodentate bicyclic diphosphane iridium(III) complex with a labile gold(I) precursor afforded an unusual IrIII/AuI complex in which the P-P single bond has been cleaved. This reaction was cleanly reversed upon addition of tertiary phosphine. Carbon-carbon bond activation, across neighbouring P2C2N rings of the coordinated bicyclic diphosphane, occurred upon thermolysis of the IrIII/AuI complex.

Abstract
Compounds featuring unsupported metal-metal bonds between actinide elements remain highly sought after yet confined experimentally to inert gas matrix studies. Notwithstanding this paucity, actinide-actinide bonding has been the subject of extensive computational research. In this contribution, high level quantum chemical calculations at both the scalar and spin-orbit levels are used to probe the Th-Th bonding in a range of zero valent systems of general formula LThThL. Several of these compounds have very short Th-Th bonds arising from a new type of Th-Th quadruple bond with a previously unreported electronic configuration featuring two unpaired electrons in 6d-based δ bonding orbitals. H3AsThThAsH3 is found to have the shortest Th-Th bond yet reported (2.590 Å). The Th2 unit is a highly sensitive probe of ligand electron donor/acceptor ability; we can tune the Th-Th bond from quadruple to triple, double and single by judicious choice of the L group, up to 2.888 Å for singly-bonded ONThThNO.

Abstract
Research on chlorine-free conversions of P4 into organophosphorus compounds (OPCs) has a long track record, but methods that allow desirable, direct P-C bond formations have only recently emerged. These include the use of metal organyls, carbenes, carboradicals, and photochemical approaches. The versatile product scope enables the preparation of both industrially relevant organophosphorus compounds, as well as a broad range of intriguing new compound classes. Herein we provide a concise overview of recent breakthroughs and outline the acquired fundamental insights to aid future developments.

Abstract
The reactivity of diazadiphosphapentalene 1 towards various substrates was investigated. Reaction of 1 with ammonia-borane resulted in transfer hydrogenolysis concomitantly with the cleavage of a P-N bond. By treatment of 1 with 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO), oxidation took place at one of the phosphorus atoms of 1, and a P(V) /P(III) mixed-valence derivative was isolated. At the same time, it was demonstrated that only one of the phosphorus atoms in 1 behaves as an electron donor for electrophiles and Lewis acids. The former afforded an intramolecularly coordinated phosphine-phosphenium species, whereas the latter demonstrates the ligand property of 1. UV irradiation induced rearrangement of 1 into another example of another diazadiphosphapentalene.
