Abstract
An ultra-sensitive sensor of dopamine is introduced. The sensor is constructed by encapsulating platinum nanoparticles (PtNPs) between reduced graphene oxide (GR) nanosheets. The sandwiched PtNPs between GR layers acted as a spacer to prevent aggregation and provided a fine connection between the GR nanosheets to provide fast charge transfer. This specific orientation of the GR nanosheets and PtNPs on the graphite pencil electrode (GPE) substantially improved the electrocatalytic activity of the sensor. The synthesized graphene oxide and the fabricated sensor were comprehensively characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy, field emission-scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), cyclic voltammetry (CV), and square wave voltammetry (SWV). The value of the charge transfer coefficient (α), apparent heterogeneous electron transfer rate constant (ks), and electroactive surface area for dopamine were found to be about 0.57, 8.99 s−1, and 0.81 cm2, respectively. The developed sensor is highly sensitive towards dopamine, and the detection limit is 9.0 nM. The sensor response is linear for dopamine concentration from 0.06 to 20 μM (R2 = 0.9991). The behavior of the sensor for dopamine in the presence of a high concentration of l(+) Ascorbic acid and other potential interferents was satisfactory. High recovery percentage between 90% and 105% in the human urine sample, good reproducibility, and facile fabrication of the electrode make it a good candidate for dopamine sensing. An efficient, highly sensitive, and selective electrochemical sensor using PtNPs sandwiched graphene layered modified graphite pencil electrode.![]()

Abstract
Boron-doped carbon quantum dots (size 2.3 nm) were fabricated by a modified hydrothermal carbonization one-pot synthesis protocol using 4-hydroxy phenylboronic acid as the common precursor that provided seed for the formation of carbon quantum dots as well as the dopant. These quantum dots exhibited excellent properties, namely good aqueous dispersion, strong fluorescence emission, good environmental stability, high selectivity and sensitivity towards the neurochemical dopamine even in the absence of any linker, functionalizing agents or enzyme. It is shown that this material can be used as a 'turn-off' fluorescent probe for the detection of even low concentrations of dopamine with a limit of detection (3σ/S) of about 6 μM. The simplicity of the synthesis protocol and the ease of dopamine detection define the novelty of this approach.

Abstract
Highly dispersed aggregation-free gold nanoparticles intercalated into the walls of mesoporous silica (AuMS) were synthesized using thioether-functionalized silica as a nanozyme, which exhibited an excellent peroxidase mimic activity. The AuMS material was characterized via XRD, N2 adsorption-desorption, FESEM, SEM-EDS particle mapping, TEM, and XPS. The peroxidase-like activity of the AuMS material was studied thoroughly, and the effect of pH and temperature was evaluated. The reproducibility of the peroxidase mimic activity and long-term stability of the AuMS catalyst were also studied. Furthermore, the AuMS catalyst was successfully utilized for the detection and quantification of dopamine, an important neurotransmitter, colorimetrically with a linear range of 10-80 μM and a limit of detection (LOD) value of 1.28 nM. The determination of dopamine concentration in commercially available dopamine hydrochloride injection showed high accuracy, good reproducibility, and high selectivity in the presence of uric acid, ascorbic acid, glucose, tryptophan, phenylalanine, and tyrosine.

Abstract
Ratiometric fluorescent sensors have shown great prospect in chemical monitoring and recognition due to its high intuitiveness, accurateness, and visualization. In this work, the ratiometric fluorescent sensors, which includes a blue fluorescent Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) as internal standard material, and a red fluorescent boric acid-modified CdTe QDs as response signal. Then we choose dopamine (DA) as template, 3-phenylboronic acid (APBA) for functional monomers, tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) for cross-linker to synthesize double ratio molecularly imprinted polymers (DR-MIPs) that can identify dopamine selectively and sensitively. The DR-MIPs has better capability of selective recognition, obvious anti-ion interference, rapid detection and good visualization. Furthermore, the unique DR-MIPs was proved as efficient visual sensors for determination of DA in human serum rapidly and efficiently. The DR-MIPs still displayed well accuracy, and the potential prospects of this smart sensor is clearly demonstrated in the context of modern clinical medicine.

Abstract
Hypersensitive and highly selective nanomaterials for the measurement of heavy metal ions (HMIs) hold a key to electro-analysis. Various works improved the results of analysis but without scientific understanding. Herein, Fe/Mg/Ni-layered double hydroxide (LDH) has been successfully prepared and its electrochemical behavior for Pb(II) detection is also studied using square wave anodic stripping voltammetry (SWASV). The well performance of electrochemistry suggest that the modification with Fe/Mg/Ni-LDH significantly promotes the selectivity and sensitivity toward Pb(II). The sensitivity on Fe/Mg/Ni-LDH modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) is 68.1μAμM-1 over the range from 0.03 to 1.0μM under the optimized conditions. Otherwise, the selectivity, anti-interference, stability measurements and practical implications of Fe/Mg/Ni-LDH modified GCE are also performed. What,s more, a reasonable mechanism of detection for Pb(II) including selectivity and sensitivity is proposed based on adsorption and characterized using XPS and XRD. These findings provide a potentially excellent material to improve the sensitivity and selectivity for toxic metal ions as well as a deep understanding of detection.

Abstract
A conjugated polymer interface consisting of an oxaborole containing polymer and a glycopolymer was used for achieving very high selectivity in dopamine (DA) detection. The optimum binding affinity between the polymers promotes the selectivity to DA through a displacement mechanism while remaining unaffected by other structurally related analogs and saccharide derivatives. Real-time detection of DA with very high selectivity and sensitivity has been demonstrated by immobilizing the polymer conjugates on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and microcantilever (MCL) sensor platforms. Using the conjugated polymer sensing layer, the SPR biosensor was capable of detecting DA in the concentration range of 1 × 10-9 to 1 × 10-4 mol L-1, whereas the MCL sensor showed a limit of detection (LOD) of 5 × 10-11 mol L-1. We find that the sensing mechanism is based on DA-induced reversible swelling of the conjugated polymer layer and this allows regeneration and reuse of the sensor multiple times. Also, we conclude that SPR is a suitable sensor platform for DA in-line detection at clinical level considering the detection time and stability, whereas MCL can achieve a much lower LOD.

Abstract
This paper describes the synthesis, characterization and applications of a new hybrid material composed of mesoporous silica (SiO2) modified with graphene oxide (GO), SiO2/GO, obtained by the sol-gel process using HF as the catalyst. The hybrid material, SiO2/GO, was decorated with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) with a size of less than 20 nanometres, prepared directly on the surface of the material using N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) as the reducing agent. The resulting material was designated as AgNP/SiO2/GO. The Ag/SiO2/GO material was characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM). A glassy carbon electrode modified with AgNP/SiO2/GO was used in the development of a sensitive electrochemical sensor for the simultaneous determination of epinephrine and dopamine employing electrocatalytic reduction using squarewave voltammetry. Well-defined and separate reduction peaks were observed in PBS buffer at pH 7. No significant interference was seen for primarily biological interferents such as uric acid and ascorbic acid in the detection of dopamine and epinephrine. Our study demonstrated that the resultant AgNP/SiO2/GO-modified electrode is highly sensitive for the simultaneous determination of dopamine and epinephrine, with the limits of detection being 0.26 and 0.27 μmol L(-1), respectively. The AgNP/SiO2/GO-modified electrode is highly selective and can be used to detect dopamine and epinephrine in a human urine sample.

Silver nanoparticles-enhanced rare earth co-luminescence effect of Tb(III)-Y(III)-dopamine system. Talanta 2015; 138:203-208. [PMID: 25863392 DOI: 10.1016/j.talanta.2015.02.023] [Citation(s) in RCA: 14] [Impact Index Per Article: 1.6] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 11/18/2014] [Revised: 02/06/2015] [Accepted: 02/11/2015] [Indexed: 11/24/2022]
Abstract
It was found that silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) could enhance co-luminescence effect of rare earths ions Tb(3+) and Y(3+). Based on this, a sensitive fluorescence detection method for the determination of dopamine (DA) was proposed. Moreover, the detection limit for DA was very low (down to nM). This is because DA can remarkably enhance the luminescence intensity of the Tb(3+) ion by Y(3+) in the colloidal solution of AgNPs, forming a new co-luminescence system. Furthermore, based on the metal enhanced fluorescence (MEF), AgNPs can sensitize the co-luminescence effect of the complex of Tb(3+)-Y(3+)-DA. In a neutral buffer solution (pH 7.50), the luminescence intensity of the system was linearly related to the concentration of DA in the range of 2.0-100 nM, with a limit of detection as low as 0.57 nM. The proposed method was applied for the determination of DA in dopamine hydrochloride injections and human serum samples with good accuracy and satisfactory recovery.

Abstract
This contribution contains a survey of basic literature dealing with arrays of microelectrodes with overlapping diffusion layers as prospective tools in contemporary electrochemistry. Photolithographic thin layer technology allows the fabrication of sensors of micrometric dimensions separated with a very small gap. This fact allows the diffusion layers of single microelectrodes to overlap as members of the array. Various basic types of microelectrode arrays with interacting diffusion layers are described and their analytical abilities are accented. Theoretical approaches to diffusion layer overlapping and the consequences of close constitution effects such as collection efficiency and redox cycling are discussed. Examples of basis applications in electroanalytical chemistry such as amperometric detectors in HPLC and substitutional stripping voltammetry are also given.
