Abstract
We present a new synthetic strategy for obtaining mixed-valence triiron complexes where the metal centers are bridged by a novel, highly functionalized hydrocarbyl ligand. The alkynyl-vinyliminium complexes [Fe2Cp2(CO)(μ-CO){μ-η1:η3-C(X-CCH)CHCNMe2}]CF3SO3 (X = 4-C6H4, [2a1]CF3SO3; X = (CH2)3, [2a2]CF3SO3) were synthesized in almost quantitative yields from the aminocarbyne precursor [Fe2Cp2(CO)2(μ-CO){μ-CNMe2}]CF3SO3, [1a]CF3SO3, and the di-alkynes HCC-X-CCH. Then, the ferracycle [Fe(Cp)(CO){C(NMe2)CHC(4-C6H4CCH)C(O)}], 4a1, was produced in 47% yield from the cleavage of [2a1]CF3SO3 promoted by pyrrolidine. Subsequent reactions of the acetonitrile adducts [Fe2Cp2(CO)(μ-CO)(NCMe){μ-CNMe(R)}]CF3SO3 (R = Me, [1aACN]CF3SO3; R = Xyl, [1bACN]CF3SO3) ([FeIFeI]) with 4a1 ([FeII]) at room temperature resulted in the formation of [FeIFeIFeII] complexes [Fe2Cp2(CO)(μ-CO){μ-η1:η3-C(X-CCHC(NMe2)FeCp(CO)CO)CHCNMe(R)}]CF3SO3 (R = Me, [5a1]CF3SO3; R = Xyl, [5b1]CF3SO3) in yields ranging from 56% to 64%. The new products were characterized by IR and multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, and the structures of [2a2]CF3SO3 and 4a1 were confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Cyclic voltammetry and spectroelectrochemical studies on [5a1]+ have revealed that reduction and oxidation events occur almost independently at the [FeIFeI] and [FeII] units, respectively. This observation underscores a minimal electronic interaction between the two fragments within the triiron complex. Accordingly, DFT studies pointed out that the HOMO and LUMO orbitals are predominantly localized in the two distinct compartments of [5a1]+.

Abstract
Sonogashira coupling is one of the Nobel reactions discovered in 1975 to form a C-C bond using palladium and copper as co-catalysts. Incorporating alkyne functionalities either in macro or micro molecules by using this Sonogashira reaction has already proven its viability and relevance in the sphere of synthetic chemistry. While aiming for sustainable chemistry, in recent years, visible light photoredox catalysts have appeared as an advanced tool in this regard. In this review, we aim to portray a comprehensive summary of modern visible light photo redox catalyzed Sonogashira reaction, which will leave space for the readers to rethink alternative strategies to conduct the Sonogashira reaction. This review briefly describes the implementation of various metal-based nanomaterial photocatalysts, developing either copper or palladium-free photocatalytic methods, and organo-photolytic and bioinspired photocatalysts for the Sonogashira coupling reactions. Besides, this review also gives a concise overview of the mechanistic aspects and highlights selective examples for substrate scope.

Abstract
One of the simplest organic functional groups, the alkyne, offers a broad canvas for the design of cascade transformations in which up to three new bonds can be added to each of the two sterically unencumbered, energy-rich carbon atoms. However, kinetic protection provided by strong π-orbital overlap makes the design of new alkyne transformations a stereoelectronic puzzle, especially on multifunctional substrates. This Review describes the electronic properties contributing to the unique utility of alkynes in radical cascades. We describe how to control the selectivity of alkyne activation by various methods, from dynamic covalent chemistry with kinetic self-sorting to disappearing directing groups. Additionally, we demonstrate how the selection of reactive intermediates directly influences the propagation and termination of the cascade. Diverging from a common departure point, a carefully planned reaction route can allow access to a variety of products.

Abstract
The stereoselective formation of tetrasubstituted alkenes remains one of the key goals of modern organic synthesis. In addition to other methods, the stereoselective synthesis of tetrasubstituted alkenes can be achieved by means of cross-coupling reactions of electrophilic and nucleophilic alkene templates. The use of electrophilic templates for the stereoselective synthesis of tetrasubstituted alkenes has previously been described. Therefore, the present review summarizes the procedures available for the stereoselective preparation of tetrasubstituted alkenes using stable and isolable nucleophilic templates.

Abstract
A new organocatalytic bicyclization of α-alkynylnaphthalen-2-ols with nitrones was first reported, leading to the convergent synthesis of polycyclic indoles with substantial substitution diversity in generally good yields through scission of the N-O bond of nitrones via [3,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement. This transformation showcases the use of a quinine catalyst in a complicated cascade system that has been shown to effectively construct polycyclic heterocycles via alkyne difunctionalization.

Abstract
Rapid assembly of fluorene-based spirocycles represents a highly significant but challenging task in organic synthesis. Reported herein is a novel Pd(0)-catalyzed [4+1] spiroannulation of simple o-iodobiaryls with bromonaphthols for the one-step construction of [4,5]-spirofluorenes in high yields with excellent functional group tolerance. Noteworthily, these valuable fluorene-based coumarin skeletons can enrich the database of C-coumarins and exhibit excellent spectroscopic properties. A “two-in-one” strategy for one-step construction of fluorene-based spirocycles has been developed via Pd(0)-catalyzed spiroannulation of cross-coupling of two simple aryl halides.![]()

Abstract
A gold-catalyzed cyclization/carbonylation cascade reaction of 1,6-diynes is reported. The reaction goes through 6-exo-dig and 6-endo-dig cyclizations in sequence, followed by hydration to provide the β,γ-unsaturated ketones with moderate to high yields under mild reaction conditions. This is the first example of intercepting the postulated 1,3-oxazine vinylgold intermediate with another pendant alkyne, which not only verifies the proposed mechanism but also provides the ketone products with cyclized 1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine or 3,6-dihydro-2H-pyran frameworks from corresponding diynes.

Abstract
A three-component reaction of 2-ethynylbenzenesulfonamides, DABCO-bis(sulfur dioxide), and aryldiazonium tetrafluoroborates affords sulfonated benzosultams in moderate to good yields. This reaction proceeds through a tandem radical process. DABCO acts as a carrier for single electron transfer, as well as a base to promote the C–N bond formation.

Abstract
With the combination of Pd(dppf)Cl2 and Cu(OAc)2, a variety of 5-iminopyrrolones were synthesized in moderate to good yields from terminal alkynes, isocyanide, and water via isocyanide double insertion and cycloaddition reaction. A plausible reaction mechanism for this process is depicted. Furthermore, selected compounds 3c, 3e, and 3h exhibited good activities against HepG2 (human liver cancer), NCI-H460 (human lung cancer), and SK-OV-3 (human ovarian cancer) cell lines with IC50 values in the range of 10.63-22.63 μmol L-1.

Abstract
A novel palladium(0)-catalyzed dearomative cyclization reaction of bromophenols with (1,n)-diynes has been developed for building two new types of tricyclic architectures containing a quaternary carbon center. This method employs inexpensive bromophenols, and easily accessible tethered diynes. It exhibits a broad substrate scope and tolerates various functional groups. Preliminary results with commercially available chiral ligands indicate that enantioselective variants are feasible for both cyclization processes.

Abstract
Diindenopyrene 4b and its diastereomer, which are extended homologues of 1,6- and 1,8-pyrenoquinodimethanes fused by indene units, respectively, were synthesized by reaction of 1,4,5,8-tetrakis(mesitylethynyl)naphthalene (7) with bis(2,4,6-trimethylpyridine)iodine(I) hexafluorophosphate via cationic cyclization mechanisms at both centers of reaction. Unexpectedly, reaction of 7 with iodine, a reagent that typically gives products of cationic cyclization, gave cycloheptapentalenoindenophenalene derivative 9b and its diastereomer incorporating an azulene unit at one end of the π framework, via two different modes (radical and cationic) of cyclization at each reaction site. The physical properties of the products are presented, and the dual modes of cyclization of 7 and its model compound with only one reaction center are discussed.
