Abstract
The ability of proteins to adsorb irreversibly onto surfaces opens new possibilities to functionalize biological interfaces. Herein, the mechanism and kinetics of adsorption of protein-polymer macromolecules with the ability to equip surfaces with antifouling properties are investigated. These macromolecules consist of the liquid chromatography peak I peptide from which antifouling polymer brushes are grafted using single electron transfer-living radical polymerization. Surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy reveals an adsorption mechanism that follows a Langmuir-type of binding with a strong binding affinity to gold. X-ray reflectivity supports this by proving that the binding occurs exclusively by the peptide. However, the lateral organization at the surface is directed by the cylindrical eGFP. The antifouling functionality of the unimolecular coatings is confirmed by contact with blood plasma. All coatings reduce the fouling from blood plasma by 8894% with only minor effect of the degree of polymerization for the studied range (DP between 101 and 932). The excellent antifouling properties, combined with the ease of polymerization and the straightforward coating procedure make this a very promising antifouling concept for a multiplicity of applications.

Abstract
Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) shell-sheddable micelles are proved to be effective tools for rapid intracellular drug delivery. However, some adverse factors, such as the potential immunogenicity and the accelerated blood clearance, might be accompanied with the traditional PEG sheddable micelles. Here, a poly(N-2-hydroxypropyl methacrylamide) (PHPMA) sheddable block copolymer containing disulfide bonds on the main chain is prepared to form pH- and reduction-dual-responsive micelles. The most optimal synthetic route of the block copolymer is selected from three potential pathways. Doxorubicin is loaded via an acid-labile hydrazone bond to achieve high drug loading content and to prevent premature drug release. As expected, as-prepared shell-sheddable micelles exhibit faster intracellular drug release and more satisfactory in vitro anticancer efficacy than the nonsheddable counterpart did. This design provides a feasible guideline for the efficient synthesis of similar shell-sheddable micelles consisting of PHPMA coatings.

Abstract
Lipidated polymers, like their protein counterparts, may be useful in fields as diverse as biochemistry and drug delivery. As such, strategies for preparing lipidated polymers with defined molecular architecture are clearly warranted. Herein, we describe a broadly-applicable methodology for synthesizing such lipidated materials, and demonstrate how they can be applied to the preparation of nanostructured drug delivery vehicles.

Abstract
Single electron transfer-living radical polymerization (SET-LRP) represents a robust and versatile tool for the synthesis of vinyl polymers with well-defined topology and chain end functionality. The crucial step in SET-LRP is the disproportionation of the Cu(I)X generated by activation with Cu(0) wire, powder, or nascent Cu(0) generated in situ into nascent, extremely reactive Cu(0) atoms and nanoparticles and Cu(II)X2. Nascent Cu(0) activates the initiator and dormant chains via a homogeneous or heterogeneous outer-sphere single-electron transfer mechanism (SET-LRP). SET-LRP provides an ultrafast polymerization of a plethora of monomers (e.g., (meth)-acrylates, (meth)-acrylamides, styrene, and vinyl chloride) including hydrophobic and water insoluble to hydrophilic and water soluble. Some advantageous features of SET-LRP are (i) the use of Cu(0) wire or powder as readily available catalysts under mild reaction conditions, (ii) their excellent control over molecular weight evolution and distribution as well as polymer chain ends, (iii) their high functional group tolerance allowing the polymerization of commercial-grade monomers, and (iv) the limited purification required for the resulting polymers. In this Perspective, we highlight the recent advancements of SET-LRP in the synthesis of biomacromolecules and of their conjugates.

Abstract
Functional cellulose substrates with tetrazole moieties are generated to serve as universal platforms for the spatio-temporal immobilization of synthetic ultra-low fouling polymer brushes and protein species via a nitrile imine-mediated tetrazole-ene cycloaddition (NITEC)-based protocol. Poly(carboxybetaine acrylamide) brushes are grafted from initiators photo-patterned by NITEC utilizing single electron transfer living radical polymerization. Streptavidin is photo-immobilized with remarkable efficiency, opening the possibility to generate new materials for biomedical and biosensing applications.

Abstract
SET-LRP of n-butyl acrylate (nBA) and 2-ethylhexyl acrylate (EHA) initiated with bis(2-bromopropionyl)ethane (BPE) to synthesize high molar mass poly(nBA) and poly(EHA) was carried out in binary mixtures of 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol (TFE) or 2,2,3,3-tetrafluoropropanol (TFP) with DMSO at 50 °C.
