Abstract
AbstractNitro compounds are vital raw chemicals that are widely used in academic laboratories and industries for the preparation of various drugs, agrochemicals, and materials. Thus, nitrating reactions are of great importance for chemists and are even taught in schools as one of the fundamental transformations in organic synthesis. Since the discovery of the first nitrating reactions in the 19th century, progress in this field has been constant. Yet, for many years the classical electrophilic nitration approach using a mixture of strong mineral acids dominated the field. However, in recent decades, the attention of researchers has focused on new reactivity and new reagents that can provide access to nitro compounds in a practical and straightforward way under mild reaction conditions. Organic nitrating reagents have played a special role in this field since they have enhanced reactivity. They also allow nitration to be carried out in an ecofriendly and sustainable manner. Abstract
In this paper, poly(vinyl imidazole) sulfonic acid nitrate [PVI-SO3H]NO3 was synthesized and fully characterized. Then, [PVI-SO3H]NO3 was applied for the preparation of energetic materials such as 1,1-diamino-2,2-dinitroethene (FOX-7), pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN), 1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazinane (RDX) and trinitrotoluene (TNT). The major advantages of the presented methodology are mild, facile workup, high yields and short reaction times. [PVI-SO3H]NO3 is a suitable nitrating agent for in situ generation of NO2 and without using any co-catalysts of the described nitrating reagent.

Abstract
Metal-free consecutive C(sp2)-X (X = Cl, Br, S, N) bond formations of N-aryl amines (cyclic, fused, carbamate, and aminium radicals) were achieved under mild conditions using [bis(trifluoroacetoxy)iodo]benzene (PIFA) and simple nonharmful sodium salts. This direct and selective C(sp2)-H functionalization showed excellent functional group compatibility, cost effectiveness, and late-stage applicability for the synthesis of biologically active natural products. Two mechanisms were proposed to explain the ortho- or para-preference, as well as the accelerating effect of CH3NO2.

Abstract
The mild and efficient palladium-catalyzed ortho C(sp2)-H diversification of (NH)-free 2-substituted benzimidazole, quinazoline, and imidazopyridine is reported using hypervalent iodine as the key reagent. Acetoxy, aryl, iodide and nitro functional groups were introduced on the same substrate by simply shifting the reaction conditions in the presence of inorganic additives (Cs2CO3, I2, NaNO2) and the hypervalent iodine reagent (diacetoxyiodo)benzene (PIDA) under aerobic conditions. The combination of NaNO2 with PIDA was successfully employed in Pd-catalyzed C-H bond nitration to achieve a library of nitrated 1,3 N-heterocycles. This versatile ortho C(sp2)-H activation strategy features operational simplicity, short reaction times, and ample substrate possibilities, it requires no ligands or silver salts as additives, and it shows good tolerance of oxidation prone functional groups.

Abstract
Novel ring-opening reactions are achieved employing benzofuroxan as a new type of iminating or aminating reagent. These diverse transformations give access to three types of molecular scaffolds, N-aryl dimethylsulfoximines, methanesulfonamides, and hemiaminal ethers, which are important structural motifs in organic and medicinal chemistry. The procedures feature solvent-involved reactions, easily available starting materials, operational simplicity, high atom economy, and the potential further transformation of nitro group.

Abstract
A transition-metal-free, mild, and highly regioselective synthesis of nitroarenes from arenes has been developed. The products are obtained in a sequential one-pot reaction by nitration of iodine(III) reagents with two carbon ligands, which are formed in situ from iodine(I). This novel concept has been extended to formation of aryl azides, and constitutes an important step towards catalytic reactions with these hypervalent iodine reagents. An efficient nitration of isolated diaryliodonium salts has also been developed, and the mechanism is proposed to proceed by a [2,2] ligand coupling pathway.

Abstract
A mild, convenient and transition metal free methodology for oxidative ipso nitration of organoboronic acids, including heteroaryl- and alkylboronic acids, has been developed using a combination of [bis-(trifluoroacetoxy)]iodobenzene (PIFA) – N-bromosuccinimide (NBS) and sodium nitrite as the nitro source.
