Abstract
A novel and straightforward method for the iron-catalyzed regioselective cross-dehydrogenative coupling of para-quinone methides (p-QMs) with formamides has been developed, facilitated by the in situ activation of the C(sp2)-H bonds of the formyl and alkenyl substituents via a radical strategy. This method does not require the preactivation of the substrates, and it can accommodate a wide range of p-QMs and formamides under the optimized reaction conditions, resulting in the formation of the expected C-7 acetamides-functionalized para-quinone methides with moderate to good yields. The control experiments revealed that the reaction follows the fundamental equation of second-order kinetics. Additionally, an exploration of the Hammett effect was undertaken to elucidate the impact of the substituents for the reaction. In combination with the DFT calculation, a plausible reaction mechanism was proposed through meticulously controlled experiments.

Abstract
Cinnamides are common core structures that exist in a great number of pharmaceuticals and natural products. The development of efficient methods for preparing cinnamides is in great need. We report herein an efficient polyphosphoric acid (PPA)-promoted direct aldol condensation of an amide for the convenient and straightforward preparation of cinnamides. A variety of cinnamides were obtained in moderate-to-excellent yields (65-89%). This strategy features the use of equivalent amides and a short reaction time.

Abstract
In recent years, numerous methodologies on oxidative rearrangements of alkenes have been investigated, that produce multipurpose synthons and heterocyclic scaffolds of potential applications. The present review focused on recently established methodologies for oxidative transformation via 1,2-aryl migration in alkenes (2013-2023). Special emphasis has been placed on mechanistic pathways to understand the reactivity pattern of different substrates, challenges to enhance selectivity, the key role of different reagents, and effect of different substituents, and how they affect the rearrangement process. Moreover, synthetic limitations and future direction also have been discussed. We believe, this review offers new synthetic and mechanistic insight to develop elegant precursors and approaches to explore the utilization of alkene-based compounds for natural product synthesis and functional materials.

Abstract
Direct difunctionalization of simple alkenes has been treated as a powerful synthetic strategy for the construction of highly functionalized skeletons. In this study, direct oxidative coupling of sulfonium salts with alkenes was achieved under mild conditions by a blue-light-driven photoredox process using a copper complex as a photosensitizer. This protocol allows regioselective synthesis of aryl/alkyl ketones from simple sulfonium salts and aromatic alkenes via selective C-S bond cleavage of sulfonium salts and oxidative alkylation of aromatic alkenes using dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) as a mild oxidant.

Abstract
An atom-economic thermal α,β-difunctionalization of various styrenes with readily prepared azodioxy compounds is reported. Mechanistic studies reveal that the starting azodioxy compounds can thermally be cleaved to the corresponding C-nitroso compounds, which under these thermal conditions further homolyze to generate reactive C-radicals along with the persistent NO radical. In the presence of a styrene, C-radical addition with subsequent nitrosylation followed by tautomerization is occurring, resulting in an overall styrene β-alkylation-α-oximation reaction.

Abstract
Radical-mediated functionalization of alkenes has been emerging as an elegant and straightforward protocol to increase molecule complexity. Moreover, the abstraction of a hydrogen atom from aldehydes to afford acyl radicals has evolved as a rising star due to its high atom-economy and the ready availability of aldehydes. Considering the great influence and synthetic potential of acyl radical enabled reactions between aldehydes and alkenes, we provide a summary of the state of the art in this field with a specific emphasis on the working models and corresponding mechanisms. The discussion is divided according to the kind of alkenes and reaction type.

Abstract
The nucleophilic γ-phenylation and γ-alkylation of α,β-unsaturated amides have been developed. This umpolung reaction allows the regioselective introduction of phenyl and alkyl groups to a vinylketene N,O-acetal, which is generated in situ from an α,β-unsaturated N-alkoxyamide, followed by N-O bond cleavage in a two-step, one-pot process.

Abstract
A practical and direct method for oxidative cross-coupling of alkenes with dialkylformamides is established employing visible-light-enabled photoredox catalysis. This strategy allows efficient access to diverse unsaturated amides under mild reaction conditions. The application of an appropriate diaryliodonium salt was demonstrated to be critical to the success of this process. This catalyst system is well tolerant of a variety of useful functional groups.

Abstract
A transition metal-free radical process for the selective α,β-dehydrogenation of saturated amides under mild conditions is developed. Utilizing radical activation strategy, the challenging issue associated with the low α-acidity of amides is resolved. For the first time, α,β-unsaturated Weinreb amides and acrylamides could be efficiently prepared directly from corresponding saturated amides. Mechanistic studies confirm the radical nature of this transformation. Two gram scale α,β-dehydrogenation have also been performed to demonstrate the utility of this method.

Abstract
A new FeCl2- and DTBP (di- tert-butyl peroxide)-promoted oxidative ring-opening and cyclization of methylenecyclopropanes with aldehydes for the synthesis of 2-acyl-3,4-dihydronaphthalenes is presented. This oxidative cyclization reaction proceeds via a radical addition, ring-opening, and cyclization sequence facilitated by a Lewis acid, and it offers a practical and straightforward route for the oxidative cyclization of methylenecyclopropanes with an aromatic carbon and a C(sp2)-H bond by simultaneously forming two new carbon-carbon bonds.

Abstract
The oxidative coupling of photogenerated alkyl radicals with readily available styrenes is disclosed. This visible-light-mediated method allows rapid access to a wide range of α-alkyl-acetophenones in good yields and with high functional group tolerance. In addition, the developed protocol features room temperature conditions, low photocatalyst loadings, and the use of dimethyl sulfoxide as nontoxic and mild terminal oxidant.

Abstract
A kinetic study of the hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) reactions from a series of secondary N-(4-X-benzyl)acetamides and tertiary amides to the phthalimide-N-oxyl radical (PINO) has been carried out. The results indicate that HAT is strongly influenced by structural and medium effects; in particular, the addition of Brønsted and Lewis acids determines a significant deactivation of C-H bonds α to the amide nitrogen of these substrates. Thus, by changing the reaction medium, it is possible to carefully control the regioselectivity of the aerobic oxidation of amides catalyzed by N-hydroxyphthalimide, widening the synthetic versatility of this process.

Abstract
A transition metal free oxidative C-H bond functionalization/esterification of α-alkoxy alkanes with acids is described in this report. This method is effectively mediated by NCS instead of traditional oxidants, like TBHP or its derivatives, and directly generates the esterification products in moderate to high yield under mild conditions. This tranformation constitutes a practical and general approach toward various α-acyloxy ethers with broad substrate generality; alkyl-, aryl-, alkenyl- and alkynyl-carboxylic acids are all well tolerated.
