Abstract
A visible-light-induced decarboxylative cascade reaction of acryloylbenzamides with alkyl N-hydroxyphthalimide (NHP) esters for the synthesis of various 4-alkyl isoquinolinediones mediated by triphenylphosphine (PPh3) and sodium iodide (NaI) was developed. This operationally simple protocol proceeded via the photoactivation of electron donor-acceptor (EDA) complexes between N-hydroxyphthalimide esters and NaI/PPh3, resulting in multiple carbon-carbon bond formations without the use of precious metal complexes or synthetically elaborate organic dyes, which provided an alternative practical approach to synthesize diverse isoquinoline-1,3(2H,4H)-dione derivatives.

Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed carbonylative Sonogashira/annulation reaction for the synthesis of indolo[1,2-b]isoquinolines has been developed. Tetracyclic 6/5/6/6 indoline skeletons were synthesized in moderate to good yields from easily available 2-bromo-N-(2-iodophenyl)benzamides and terminal alkynes. Notably, this efficient methodology established three C-C bonds and a C-N bond through a one-step transformation and provided a new method for the synthesis of indolo[1,2-b]isoquinoline derivatives.

Abstract
In view of the reported chorismate mutase (CM or MtbCM) inhibitory activities of 3-indolylmethyl substituted (pyrazolo/benzo)triazinone derivatives the structurally similar 3-(benzofuran-2-ylmethyl) substituted (pyrazolo/benzo)triazinones were designed and evaluated in silico against CM. The docking of target molecules was performed at the interface site of MtbCM (PDB: 2FP2). All the best ranked molecules participated in a strong H-bonding with the ILE67 of the B chain at the backbone position in addition to several hydrophobic/van der Waals interactions with the hydrophobic residues. Based on encouraging docking results, the one-pot synthesis of newly designed benzofuran derivatives was carried out using tandem Pd/Cu-catalyzed Sonogashira cross-coupling followed by intramolecular cyclization of 2-iodophenols with appropriate terminal alkynes. A range of novel 3-(benzofuran-2-ylmethyl) substituted (pyrazolo/benzo)triazinone derivatives were prepared in high (>80%) yields. Three molecules i.e.3h, 3i and 3m that participated in good interaction with CM in silico showed encouraging (64–65%) inhibition at 30 μM in vitro. An SAR within this class of molecules suggested that the benzotriazinone series in general was better than the pyrazolotriazinone series. Based on molecular docking in silico, CM inhibition in vitro and computational ADME prediction the benzofuran derivatives 3i and 3m seemed to be of further medicinal interest in the context of discovery and development of new anti-tubercular agents. We report the Pd/Cu-catalyzed synthesis, in silico molecular docking, in vitro CM inhibition and computational ADME prediction of novel 3-(benzofuran-2-ylmethyl) substituted (pyrazolo/benzo)triazinone derivatives.![]()

Abstract
d-Glucosamine, a natural, inexpensive, and conveniently accessible sugar, has been explored as an efficient ligand for the Cu(I)-catalyzed regio- and stereoselective synthesis of an array of (Z)-3-methyleneisoindoline-1-ones and (E)-N-aryl-4H-thiochromen-4-imines in good-to-excellent yield in a tandem fashion via the reaction of 2-halobenzamide and 2-halobenzothioamide with terminal alkynes, respectively. The water solubility and biocompatible nature of the ligand offer easy separation of the catalytic system toward the aqueous phase as well as change in the reaction path in terms of the product also demonstrated the variation of the reaction temperature. The domino reaction proceeds by the Sonogashira and Ullmann type cross-coupling reaction, followed by Cu(I)-promoted additive cyclization of heteroatom to the triple bond. In addition, d-glucosamine causes successful Glaser-Hay coupling of terminal alkynes under Cu catalysis to produce a high yield of respective 1,3-diynes.

Abstract
Metal nanoparticles have been deeply studied in the last few decades due to their attractive physical and chemical properties, finding a wide range of applications in several fields. Among them, well-defined nano-structures can combine the main advantages of heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysts. Especially, catalyzed multi-step processes for the production of added-value chemicals represent straightforward synthetic methodologies, including tandem and sequential reactions that avoid the purification of intermediate compounds. In particular, palladium- and copper-based nanocatalysts are often applied, becoming a current strategy in the sustainable synthesis of fine chemicals. The rational tailoring of nanosized materials involving both those immobilized on solid supports and liquid phases and their applications in organic synthesis are herein reviewed.

Abstract
We report a Rh-catalyzed hydroaminomethylation reaction of terminal alkenes in glycerol that proceeds efficiently under mild conditions to produce the corresponding amines in relatively high selectivity towards linear amines, moderate to excellent yields by using a low catalyst loading (1 mol % [Rh], 2 mol % phosphine) and relative low pressure (H2 /CO, 1:1, total pressure 10 bar). This work sheds light on the importance of glycerol in enabling enamine reduction via hydrogen transfer. Moreover, evidence for the crucial role of Rh as chemoselective catalyst in the condensation step has been obtained for the first time in the frame of the hydroaminomethylation reaction by precluding deleterious aldol condensation reactions. The hydroaminomethylation proceeds under a molecular regime; the outcome of catalytically active species into metal-based nanoparticles renders the catalytic system inactive.

Abstract
Heterocycles have been found to be of much importance as several nitrogen- and oxygen-containing heterocycle compounds exist amongst the various USFDA-approved drugs. Because of the advancement of nanotechnology, nanocatalysis has found abundant applications in the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds. Numerous nanoparticles (NPs) have been utilized for several organic transformations, which led us to make dedicated efforts for the complete coverage of applications of metal nanoparticles (MNPs) in the synthesis of heterocyclic scaffolds reported from 2010 to 2019. Our emphasize during the coverage of catalyzed reactions of the various MNPs such as Ag, Au, Co, Cu, Fe, Ni, Pd, Pt, Rh, Ru, Si, Ti, and Zn has not only been on nanoparticles catalyzed synthetic transformations for the synthesis of heterocyclic scaffolds, but also provide an inherent framework for the reader to select a suitable catalytic system of interest for the synthesis of desired heterocyclic scaffold.

Abstract
Heteroatom-doped porous carbon derived from biomass have recently received increasing attention due to their unique properties such as high electrical conductivity, large specific surface area, high porosity, and easy availability, which are appealing materials for versatile applications in catalysis, energy, separation and adsorption, and life sciences as well. On the basis of our previous work in this field, we summarized in this account our recent progress on design, synthesis of metal (e. g., Pd, Co) nanoparticles supported heteroatom-doped hierarchical porous carbon material derived from bamboo shoots and their applications for important organic transformations, including chemoselective semihydrogenation of alkynes, hydrosilylation of alkynes, cascade synthesis of benzofurans from terminal alkynes and iodophenols, selective hydrogenation of functionalized nitroarenes to form anilines, imines, and formamides. Finally, the current state and future challenges in this field are discussed. We hope this account could shed light on the rational design of novel non-noble metal based heterogeneous catalysts derived from biomass for efficient and sustainable organic transformations.

Abstract
The effect of long-alkyl-chain amines in CuI-assisted azide-alkyne cycloadditions of terminal alkynes with organic azides in glycerol and other environmentally benign solvents (water, ethanol) has been examined. The presence of these additives favors the in situ formation of CuI -based nanoparticles and results in an increase of the catalytic reactivity. In glycerol, liquid-phase transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analyses, enabled by the negligible vapor pressure of this solvent, proved that CuI nanoparticles are responsible for the observed catalytic activity. The wide variety of alkynes and azides of which this effect has been investigated (14 combinations) confirms the role played by these additives in Cu-catalyzed Huisgen cycloadditions.

Abstract
Metal-free intermolecular Huisgen cycloadditions using nonactivated internal alkynes have been successfully performed in neat glycerol, both under thermal and microwave dielectric heating. In sharp contrast, no reaction occurs in other protic solvents, such as water, ethanol, or diols. DFT calculations have shown that the BnN3/glycerol adduct promotes a more important stabilization of the corresponding LUMO than that produced in the analogous BnN3/alcohol adducts, favoring the reactivity with the alkyne in the first case. The presence of copper salts in the medium did not change the reaction pathway (Cu(I) acts as spectator), except for disubstituted silylalkynes, for which desilylation takes place in contrast to the metal-free system.
