Abstract
The OH-initiated oxidation reactions of chloromethyl ethyl ether (CH2ClOCH2CH3) have been presented by using quantum calculation methods. The Minnesota functional (M06-2X) of the density functional theory method along with a polarization and diffuse 6-311++G(d,p) basis set is chosen for optimization and frequency calculations for H-abstractions from CH2ClOCH2CH3 molecules by OH radicals. Furthermore, the CCSD(T) method along with the same basis set is used for energy refinement of all optimized structures to obtain more accurate energies of the species. Our thermo-chemical calculation results show that the C˙HClOCH2CH3 product radical is more stable, corresponding to hydrogen atom abstraction from the -CH2Cl site, than others while the energy profile results indicate that the H-atom abstracted from the -OCH2 site follows the minimum energy path compared to other channels. The rate constants are computed using canonical transition state theory (CTST) within the temperature range of 250-450 K at 1 atm. The overall rate constant (at 298 K) for the abstraction reactions is found to be consistent with the earlier reported rate constant. The percentage branching ratios of different abstraction channels and the lifetime of chloromethyl ethyl ether are also given herein. We further investigated the unimolecular decomposition pathways of the CH2ClOCH(O˙)CH3 radical and found that unimolecular C-C bond scission is the kinetically and thermodynamically more feasible pathway compared to other unimolecular decomposition reactions.

Abstract
UNLABELLED Multichannel gas-phase reactions of CH3OCH2CH2Cl/CH3CH2OCH2CH2Cl with chlorine atom and hydroxyl radical have been investigated using ab initio method and canonical variational transition-state dynamic computations with the small-curvature tunneling correction. Further energetic information is refined by the coupled-cluster calculations with single and double excitations (CCSD)(T) method. Both hydrogen abstraction and displacement processes are carried out at the same level. Our results reveal that H-abstraction from the -OCH2- group is the dominant channel for CH3OCH2CH2Cl by OH radical or Cl atom, and from α-CH2 of the group CH3CH2- is predominate for the reaction CH3CH2OCH2CH2Cl with Cl/OH. The contribution of displacement processes may be unimportant due to the high barriers. The values of the calculated rate constants reproduce remarkably well the available experiment data. Standard enthalpies of formation for reactants and product radicals are calculated by isodesmic reactions. The Arrhenius expressions are given within 220-1200 K. The atmospheric lifetime, ozone depleting potential (ODP), ozone formation potential (OFP), and global warming potential (GWP) of CH3OCH2CH2Cl/CH3CH2OCH2CH2Cl are investigated. Meanwhile, the atmospheric fate of the alkoxy radicals are also researched using the same level of theory. To shed light on the atmospheric degradation, a mechanistic study is obtained, which indicates that reaction with O2 is the dominant path for the decomposition of CH3OCH(O•)CH2Cl, the C-C bond scission reaction is the primary reaction path in the consumption of CH3CH(O•)OCH2CH2Cl in the atmosphere. HIGHLIGHTS Ab initio method and canonical variational transition-state theory are employed to study the kinetic nature of hydrogen abstraction reactions of CH3OCH2CH2Cl/CH3CH2OCH2CH2Cl with Cl atom and OH radical and fate of alkoxy radicals (CH3OCH(O•)CH2Cl/CH3CH(O•)OCH2CH2Cl).

Abstract
Theoretical investigations were carried out on the gas-phase reactions of CF3C(O)OCH2CH3, ethyl trifluoroacetate (ETFA) with Cl atoms by means of modern density functional theory methods. The optimized geometries, frequencies and minimum energy path were obtained with the hybrid density functional model MPWB1K using the 6-31+G(d,p) basis set. The single point energy calculations were refined further using the G2(MP2) method. Two conformers relatively close in energy were identified for ETFA; both are likely to be important in the temperature range of our study. The existence of transition states on the corresponding potential energy surface was ascertained by performing intrinsic reaction coordinate calculations. The rate constant at 298 K calculated theoretically using canonical transition state theory was found to be in good agreement with experimentally measured values. Our calculations suggest that H abstraction from the -CH2 group is kinetically and thermodynamically more favorable than abstraction from the -CH3 group. The atmospheric lifetime of ETFA with Cl atoms was determined to be 1.98 years. To the best of our knowledge, this work represents the first determination of the rate coefficients for the gas-phase reaction of chlorine atoms in ETFA.

Abstract
A theoretical study on the mechanism of the thermal decomposition of CF(3)C(O)OCH(2)O radical is presented for the first time. Geometry optimization and frequency calculations were performed at the MPWB1K/6-31 + G(d, p) level of theory and energetic information further refined by calculating the energy of the species using G2(MP2) theory. Three plausible decomposition pathways including α-ester rearrangement, reaction with O(2) and thermal decomposition (C-O bond scission) were considered in detail. Our results reveal that reaction with O(2) is the dominant path for the decomposition of CF(3)C(O)OCH(2)O radical in the atmosphere, involving the lowest energy barrier, which is in accord with experimental findings. Our theoretical results also suggest that α-ester rearrangement leading to the formation of trifluoroacetic acid TFA makes a negligible contribution to decomposition of the title alkoxy radical. The thermal rate constants for the above decomposition pathways were evaluated using canonical transition state theory (CTST) at 298 K.
