Abstract
This research work describes the degradation of quinoline yellow (QY) in aqueous solutions by the heterogeneous Fenton and photo-Fenton processes in the presence of CuO/Fe2O3 photocatalyst. CuO/Fe2O3 derived from LDH structure was synthesized by the co-precipitation method. The physiochemical characteristics of CuO/Fe2O3 were described by XRD, TEM/SEM, BET surface area, and FTIR techniques. The effects of pH, H2O2 concentration, dye concentration, catalyst dose, reaction temperature, and reusability of catalyst on the QY decolorization efficiency were studied. The results indicated that a complete removal of QY was achieved within 150 min, when the H2O2 and QY concentrations were 27.6 mM and 100 mg/L, respectively. The rate constants for QY removal by the heterogeneous Fenton system were calculated, and the experimental data were found to fit the pseudo-first order model. Under optimal conditions, the rate constants were, respectively, 0.02032 and 0.01715 min-1 for the photo-Fenton and Fenton systems; this means that the addition of light has not a noticeable effect.

Abstract
A series of composite γ-Fe2O3/g-C3N4 (denoted as xFeCN with x equal 5, 10, 15, and 20 of γ-Fe2O3 percentage in weight) was prepared by calcination and precipitation-impregnation methods. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and X-ray photoelectron spectrometry (XPS) characterizations indicated the successful synthesis of Z-scheme FeCN composites. A red shift of the light absorption region was revealed by UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-DRS). In addition, photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL) spectra showed an interface interaction of two phases Fe2O3 and g-C3N4 in the synthesized composites that improved the charge transfer capacity. The photocatalytic activity of these materials was studied in the photoreduction of CO2 with H2O as the reductant in the gaseous phase. The composites exhibited excellent photoactivity compared to undoped g-C3N4. The CH4 production rate over 10FeCN and 15FeCN composites (2.8 × 10-2 and 2.9 × 10-2 μmol h-1 g-1, respectively) was ca. 7 times higher than that over pristine g-C3N4 (0.4 × 10-2 μmol h-1 g-1). This outstanding photocatalytic property of these composites was explained by the light absorption expansion and the prevention of photogenerated electron-hole pairs recombination due to its Z-scheme structure.

Abstract
The present study reports the synthesis of the Fe2O3/Cu2O nanocomposite via a facile hydrothermal route. The products were characterized using X-ray diffractometry (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), dynamic light scattering (DLS), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) techniques. The composition, morphology and structural features of the nanoparticles were found to be size-dependent due to the temperature response in the particular time log during hydrothermal synthesis. HR-TEM confirmed the formation of hexagonal rod-shaped bare Cu2O, rhombohedral-shaped Fe2O3 and composite assembly. Rhodamine-B (RB) and Janus green (JG) were chosen as model dyes for the degradation studies. Photocatalytic degradation of the dyes was deliberated by altering the catalyst and dye concentrations. The results showed that the Rhodamine-B (RB) and Janus green (JG) dyes were degraded within a short time span. The synthesized materials were found to be highly stable in the visible light-driven degradation of the dyes; showed antibacterial activity against E. coli, P. aeruginosa, Staph. aureus and B. subtilis; and exhibited less toxicity against the Musmusculus skin melanoma cells (B16-F10). The fusion of these advantages paves the way for further applications in energy conversion, biological applications as well as in environmental remediation.

Construction and Characterization of a Chitosan-Immobilized-Enzyme and β-Cyclodextrin-Included-Ferrocene-Based Electrochemical Biosensor for H₂O₂ Detection. MATERIALS 2017; 10:ma10080868. Abstract
An electrochemical detection biosensor was prepared with the chitosan-immobilized-enzyme (CTS-CAT) and β-cyclodextrin-included-ferrocene (β-CD-FE) complex for the determination of H₂O₂. Ferrocene (FE) was included in β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) to increase its stability. The structure of the β-CD-FE was characterized. The inclusion amount, inclusion rate, and electrochemical properties of inclusion complexes were determined to optimize the reaction conditions for the inclusion. CTS-CAT was prepared by a step-by-step immobilization method, which overcame the disadvantages of the conventional preparation methods. The immobilization conditions were optimized to obtain the desired enzyme activity. CTS-CAT/β-CD-FE composite electrodes were prepared by compositing the CTS-CAT with the β-CD-FE complex on a glassy carbon electrode and used for the electrochemical detection of H₂O₂. It was found that the CTS-CAT could produce a strong reduction peak current in response to H₂O₂ and the β-CD-FE could amplify the current signal. The peak current exhibited a linear relationship with the H₂O₂ concentration in the range of 1.0 × 10-7-6.0 × 10-3 mol/L. Our work provided a novel method for the construction of electrochemical biosensors with a fast response, good stability, high sensitivity, and a wide linear response range based on the composite of chitosan and cyclodextrin.
