Abstract
The reaction between the ((E)-N'-(2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene)pyrazine-2-carbohydrazide) (H2opch) ligand and the metallo-precursor [Dy(hfac)3]·2H2O led to the formation of an homometallic coordination complex with the formula [Dy2(hfac)3(H2O)(Hopch)2][Dy(hfac)4] (1). In presence of both [Dy(hfac)3] 2H2O and the Fe(II) salt, the heterobimetallic tetranuclear [FeDy3(hfac)8(H2O)2(opch)2] (2) was isolated, while the addition of the co-ligand 1,2-Bis(2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene) hydrazine (H2bmh) led to the formation of two heterobimetallic tetranuclear complexes with the formula [Fe3Dy(hfac)6(opch)2(H2bmh)] C6H14 (3) C6H14 and [Fe2Dy2(hfac)7(opch)2(H2bmh)] 0.5C7H16 (4) 0.5C7H16. Single crystal X-ray diffraction and dc magnetic investigation demonstrated that 3 and 4 involved the iron center in the +II and +III oxidation states. Dynamic magnetic measurements highlighted the single-molecule magnet behavior of 1 and 2 in a zero applied dc field primarily due to the ferromagnetic interactions taking place in these compounds.

Abstract
A series of novel 3D 3d-4f heterometallic cluster-based coordination polymers, [Ln4Cr4(μ3-O)4(μ4-O)4(NA)8(H2O)12]·xH2O (Ln = 1-Gd, 2-Tb, 3-Er; HNA = nicotinic acid; x = 13 (1-Gd), 11.33 (2-Tb), 15 (3-Er)), have been successfully synthesized by hydrothermal method using nicotinic acid as bridging ligand. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD) analysis indicated that the basic unit of Ln4Cr4 shows a butterfly-shaped structure. Furthermore, each Ln4Cr4 cluster connects with other four Ln4Cr4 clusters by bridging NA- ligands to form a 3D structure containing interesting 1D honeycomb-shaped coordination nanotubes. The variable temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements of compound 1 revealed that the existence of antiferromagnetic (AF) coupling between the metal ions in the Gd4Cr4 clusters. Field-dependent isothermal magnetization studies displayed that the magnetic entropy change (-ΔSm) value of 1-Gd reached 22.05 J K-1 kg-1.

Abstract
By introduction of trilacunary Keggin-type polyoxometalate to the hydrothermal reaction system of Cr3+, Ln3+ and phthalic acid, a series of novel {Cr4Ln4} heterometallic clusters with the formula Cs2[Cr4Ln4(μ4-O)4(μ3-O)4(C8H4O4)4(H2O)12](H3SiW12O40)Cl·23H2O (1-Ln, Ln = Ce, Pr, Nd) and [Cr4Ln4(μ4-O)4(μ3-O)4(C8H4O4)4(H2O)10](H6SiW12O40)Cl2·18H2O (2-Ln, Ln = Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er) have been obtained. Single-crystal structural analyses show that 1-Ln and 2-Ln constitute the first cases of Cr–Ln heterometallic clusters stabilized by inorganic polyoxometalate anions and organic ligands. Optical spectra studies demonstrate that 1-Ln and 2-Ln are narrow-gap semiconductors with band gaps of about 1.5 eV. Magnetic investigation shows that compound 2-Dy is a potential single molecule magnet. By introduction of trilacunary Keggin-type polyoxometalate to the hydrothermal reaction system of Cr3+, Ln3+ and phthalic acid, a series of novel {Cr4Ln4} heterometallic clusters have been obtained.![]()

Abstract
We herein reported the syntheses, structures, and magnetic properties of three dinuclear heterometallic MIILnIII complexes, namely, [MIILnIII(H2L)(CH3OH)2(NO3)2](NO3)·S (M = Co, Ln = Dy, S = MeOH (1CoDy); M = Zn, Ln = Dy, S = MeOH (2ZnDy); M = Co, Ln = Y, S = MeNO2 (3CoY), H4L = 2,6-diacetylpyridine bis[2-(semicarbazono) propionylhydrazone]. Synthesized from the predesigned multidentate ligand H4L, which has two different coordination pockets (smaller N3O2 and larger N2O4 pockets) suitable for either a 3d or a 4f metal center, all these complexes have very similar structures, where the MII centers possess a pentagonal bipyramidal (PBP) geometry and the LnIII sites have a tetradecahedron geometry. Magnetic measurements on these compounds revealed the existence of weak ferromagnetic coupling between the Co2+ and Dy3+ centers and the field-induced slow magnetic relaxation of all three complexes. Furthermore, theoretical calculation on all these complexes indicates that although the change of the diamagnetic Zn2+ ion to the paramagnetic Co2+ ion only slightly modifies the local magnetic anisotropy of the Dy3+ ion, the weak Co-Dy magnetic interaction decreases the energy barrier. These compounds are the first systematic results of a heterometallic 3d-4f single-molecule magnet containing predesigned PBP 3d metal ions.

Abstract
We present molecular magnetic systems that contain all elements necessary for spin-valve control in molecular spintronic devices in a single molecule.
We present the design, synthesis and magnetic properties of molecular magnetic systems that contain all elements necessary for spin-valve control in molecular spintronic devices in a single molecule. We investigate the static and dynamic magnetic properties and quantum spin properties of butadiyne-linked homo- and hetero-nuclear lanthanide-porphyrin dimers. A heterometallated porphyrin dimer containing both TbIII and DyIII centres is created rationally by the stepwise oxidative homocoupling of distinct lanthanide-porphyrin monomers. TbIII and DyIII mononuclear porphyrin complexes, homodimers and heterodimers all exhibit slow magnetic relaxation below 10 kelvin under a static magnetic field. The coherence times for GdIII porphyrin monomers and dimers are found to be in excess of 3.0 μs at 2 K, allowing distinct magnetic manipulations in low temperature transport experiments.

Abstract
Herein, a new family of LnIII[18-metallacrown-6] compounds with the formula [Fe6O2Ln(tBu-sao)6(OH)(MeO)4(MeOH)(H2O)]·6MeOH [Ln = DyIII (1), TbIII (2), GdIII (3), and YIII (4), tBu-saoH2 = 3,5-di-tert-butylsalicylaldoxime] was synthesized through one-pot reactions using tBu-saoH2, Fe(ClO4)3·6H2O, and Ln(NO3)3·6H2O. The four compounds are isostructural, and the encapsulation of a Ln ion in the ring cavity of 18-metallacrown-6 (18-MC-6) was exhibited for the first time. The structural analysis shows a ship-like 18-MC-6 core with a beset lanthanide ion connecting six ring oxygen atoms (OMC). Magnetic measurements reveal domain antiferromagnetic coupling interactions between metal ions and field-dependent slow magnetic relaxation in 1-3.

Abstract
A series of Fe2Ln (Ln = La, Gd, Tb, Dy and Ho) and Fe2Y complexes have been synthesized via metal substitution and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. All the molecules are isostructural and have a Fe2LnO triangular core with the oxygen atom existing as an μ3-oxo2- anion. DC and AC magnetic susceptibility studies were performed on all the molecules. For Fe2Ln (Ln = Gd, La) and Fe2Y, the data were fitted to Van Vleck equations and the magnetic coupling constants were obtained. In all cases, the two Fe(iii) spins were found to be antiparallel to each other in the ground state leaving the heterometal to remain essentially uncoupled.
