Abstract
New lanthanide carboxylate compounds with two- (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) structures have been prepared by employing 2,5-bis(prop-2-yn-1-yloxy)terephthalic acid (2,5-BPTA) as an organic linker. The compounds, [Ln(C14H8O6)(C7O3H4)·2H2O]·4(H2O), Ln = Y, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy and [Ln(C7O3H4)3·(C3H7ON)·(H2O)]·2(H2O)(C3H7NO), Ln = La, Ce, Pr, have two- and three-dimensional structures, respectively. In all compounds, lanthanide ions are connected together, forming a dimer, which is connected by the 2,5-BPTA ligand. In the two-dimensional structure, there are two 2,5-BPTA moieties present, and in the three-dimensional structure, there are three 2,5-BPTA moieties present. The lanthanide centers are nine-coordinated, the 2D structure has a tricapped trigonal prismatic arrangement, and the 3D structure has a monocapped distorted square antiprismatic arrangement. The Pr compound forms in both 2D and 3D structures, whose formation depends on the time of the reaction (2 days─2D and 5-6 days─3D). The ligand emits in the blue region, and using the characteristic emission of Eu3+ (red) and Tb3+ (green) ions, we achieve white light emission in the (Y0.96Tb0.02Eu0.02) compound. The overall quantum yield for the white light emission is 28%. The strong green luminescence of the Tb3+-containing compound was employed to selectively sense the Cr3+ and Fe3+ ions in aqueous solution with limits of detection (LODs) at 0.41 and 8.6 ppm, respectively. The Tb compound was found to be a good heterogeneous catalyst for the Ullman-type O-arylation reaction between phenol and bromoarene with yields of 95%. Magnetic studies on the Gd-, Tb-, and Dy-containing compounds showed weak exchange interactions within the dimeric Ln2 units. The present work demonstrates the many utilities of the rare-earth-containing MOFs, especially toward white-light emission, metal-ion sensing, and heterogeneous catalysis.

Abstract
Nitro hydrocarbons as inexpensive, easily available, and relatively stable organic intermediates have aroused great attention in various functional group transformations over the past several decades. The electron-withdrawing action of the nitro group can act as a transient leaving group to efficiently transform into the other important functionalities. Nitro compounds are easily prepared through simple synthetic reactions from simple and facile starting substrates and provide an exciting opportunity for the synthesis of various valuable products. This account will review recent progress in the denitrative coupling reaction of nitroalkanes, nitroolefins, and nitroarenes under transition metalcatalyzed, transition metal-free, or visible light induced conditions.

Abstract
Copper(II) nitrate complexes of 2-(((2-((2-aminoethyl)amino)ethyl)imino)methyl)phenol, 2-(((2-((2-aminoethyl)amino)ethyl)imino)methyl)-4,6-dichlorophenol, 2-(((2-(piperazin-1-yl)ethyl)imino)methyl)phenol and (2,4-di-tert-butyl-6-(((2-(piperazin-1-yl)ethyl)imino)methyl)phenol, as well as a copper(II) acetate complex of 2-(((2-(piperidin-1-yl)ethyl)imino)methyl)phenol, have been prepared and characterized by X-ray diffraction studies. In combination with benzyl alcohol, all complexes are active in rac-lactide polymerization at 140 °C in molten monomer to provide moderately heterotactic polylactic acid. Most complexes showed complicated reaction kinetics, indicative of two interconverting active species. Molecular weight control was poor and a strong tendency toward intramolecular transesterification led to oligomeric products. There was no indication that the basic site of the ligand is participating in the polymerization reaction by deprotonation of the alcohol nucleophile.

Abstract
The crystal structures of four di-meth-oxy-benzaldehyde (C9H10O3) isomers, namely the 2,3-, 2,4-, 2,5- and 3,5- isomers, are reported and compared to the previously reported crystal structures of 3,4-di-meth-oxy-benzaldehyde and 2,6-di-meth-oxy-benzaldehyde. All di-meth-oxy-benzaldehyde mol-ecules in the crystal structures are nearly planar. The largest deviation (1.2 Å) from the aromatic plane is found for one of the meth-oxy groups of 2,3-di-meth-oxy-benzaldehyde. Upon rapid cooling of 3,4-di-meth-oxy-benzaldehyde and 3,5-di-meth-oxy-benzaldehyde, a metastable polymorph is formed. The crystal studied for the 3,5- isomer was refined as a two-component twin.

Abstract
Abstract
Two new isostructural octahedral complexes [CoX(H2O)(salophen)]·H2O·EtOH (X=Cl (1), Br (2); salophen=N,N′-bis(salicylidene)-1,2-diaminobenzene) have been prepared by reaction of CoX2 and H2
salophen in a mixture of ethanol and dichloromethane (1:1) and characterized by IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Crystal structures of both 1 and 2 are molecular and built up of [CoX(H2O)(salophen)] complex molecules and solvate water and ethanol molecules. The salophen ligand occupies the equatorial plane of the hexacoordinated Co(III) atom while halogenido and aqua ligands are placed in the axial positions. The crystal packings are formed by O–H···O hydrogen bonds and additional π–π stacking interactions. The results of thermogravimetric studies of 1 and 2 revealed that the loss of solvating molecules takes place first.
