Abstract
The synthesis, characterization, and application of a new cyanostyrylcopillar[5]arene 1 is reported. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction and other spectroscopic techniques confirm the identity of the new copillar 1. The X-ray diffraction study reveals that the copillar 1 exhibits a 1D supramolecular chain in the solid state involving π···π interactions along the crystallographic c-axis and 1D chains are further connected by interchain C-H···π interactions to establish 2D supramolecular layers within the crystallographic bc-plane. 2D supramolecular chains on further packing introduce a 3D structure with void spaces filled with hexane molecules. Through minimal deviation in the dihedral angle, the cyano-substituted ethylenic group in 1 shows a conjugation with the phenolic -OH, favoring intramolecular bond conjugation (ITBC) and colorimetrically detects the aliphatic amines over aromatic amines in CH3CN. Among the aliphatic amines, tertiary amines are differentiated from primary and secondary amines by the naked eye through color change. Both in solution and solid states, 1 displays vapor phase detection of volatile aliphatic amines. Antibacterial activity analysis shows that while 1 exhibits the antibiofilm action against Gram-positive pathogenic bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus, it promotes biofilm formation by Gram-negative pathogenic bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Abstract
Novel monosubstituted pillar[5]arenes containing both amide and carboxyl functional groups were synthesized. Solid lipid nanoparticles based on the synthesized macrocycles were obtained. Formation of spherical particles with an average hydrodynamic diameter of 250 nm was shown for pillar[5]arenes containing N-(amidoalkyl)amide fragments regardless of their concentration. It was established that pillar[5]arene containing N-alkylamide fragments can form spherical particles with two different sizes (88 and 223 nm) depending on its concentration. Mixed solid lipid nanoparticles based on monosubstituted pillar[5]arenes and surfactant (dodecyltrimethylammonium chloride) were obtained for the first time. The surfactant made it possible to level the effect of the macrocycle concentration. It was found that various types of aggregates are formed depending on the macrocycle/surfactant ratio. Changing the macrocycle/surfactant ratio allows to control the charge of the particles surface. This controlled property will lead to the creation of molecular-scale porous materials that selectively interact with various types of substrates, including biopolymers.

Abstract
In this paper, we report the development of the novel self-assembling systems based on oppositely charged Pillar[5]arenes and surfactants for encapsulation of diagnostic dye DAPI. For this purpose, the aggregation behavior of synthesized macrocycles and surfactants in the presence of Pillar[5]arenes functionalized by carboxy and ammonium terminal groups was studied. It has been demonstrated that by varying the molar ratio in Pillar[5]arene-surfactant systems, it is possible to obtain various types of supramolecular systems: host-guest complexes at equimolar ratio of Pillar[5]arene-surfactant and interpolyelectrolyte complexes (IPECs) are self-assembled materials formed in aqueous medium by two oppositely charged polyelectrolytes (macrocycle and surfactant micelles). It has been suggested that interaction of Pillar[5]arenes with surfactants is predominantly driven by cooperative electrostatic interactions. Synthesized stoichiometric and non-stoichiometric IPECs specifically interact with DAPI. UV-vis, luminescent spectroscopy and molecular docking data show the structural feature of dye-loaded IPEC and key role of the electrostatic, π-π-stacking, cation-π interactions in their formation. Such a strategy for the design of supramolecular Pillar[5]arene-surfactant systems will lead to a synergistic interaction of the two components and will allow specific interaction with the third component (drug or fluorescent tag), which will certainly be in demand in pharmaceuticals and biomedical diagnostics.

Pillar[5]arenes with phosphonate- and 1-aminophosphonate-substituents form complexes with Na+, K+, Cs+ and Pb2+ with a 1 : 1 stoichiometry and lg Ka values between 2.0 and 4.8, and that Pb2+ is the most effectively bound cation.

Abstract
Supramolecular host-guest interaction and sensing between cationic pillar[5]arenes (CP5) and L-carnitine were developed by the competitive host-guest recognition for the first time. The fluorescence sensing platform was constructed by CP5 functionalized Au nanoparticles (CP5@Au-NPs) as receptor and probe (rhodamine 123, R123), which shown high sensitivity and selectivity for L-carnitine detection. Due to the negative charge and molecular size properties of L-carnitine, it can be highly captured by the CP5 via electrostatic interactions and hydrophobic interactions. The host-guest mechanism between PP5 and L-carnitine was studied by 1H NMR and molecular docking, indicating that more affinity binding force of CP5 with L-carnitine. Therefore, a selective and sensitive fluorescent method was developed. It has a linear response of 0.1–2.0 and 2.0–25.0 μM and a detection limit of 0.067 μM (S/N = 3). The fluorescent sensing platform was also used to detect L-carnitine in human serum and milk samples, which provided potential applications for the detection of drugs abuse and had path for guarding a serious food safety issues.

Abstract
A pillar[5]arene derivative with a hydrophilic sulfonic group, i.e., monosulfonicpillar[5]arene (MSP5), has been successfully synthesized for the first time, which exhibited strong binding affinity towards alcohol analogs. Significantly, fluorescent supramolecular ensemble was fabricated from the supramolecular complexation of MSP5 and a neutral guest with tetraphenylethene core. Enhanced fluorescent emission of this system can be detected both in dilute solution and the solid state, and its temperature and competitive guest multi-responsive properties suggest its promising application as a chemical sensor towards alcohol analogs, ethylenediamine, and temperature variations.

Abstract
New water-soluble tetra-substituted derivatives of p-tert-butylthiacalix[4]arene containing fragments of L-tryptophan in cone and 1,3-alternate conformations were obtained. It was shown that the resulting compounds form stable, positively charged aggregates of 86-134 nm in diameter in water at a concentration of 1 × 10-4 M as confirmed by dynamic light scattering, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. It was established that these aggregates are fluorescently active and chiral. A distinctive feature of the compounds is the pronounced dependence of their spectral (emission and chiroptical) properties on the polarity of the solvent and the length of the linker between the macrocyclic and fluorophore parts of the molecule.
