Abstract
Natural evolution has provided multicellular organisms with sophisticated functionalities and repair mechanisms for surviving and preserve their functions after an injury and/or infection. In this context, biological systems have inspired material scientists over decades to design and fabricate both self-healing polymeric materials and soft actuators with remarkable performance. The latter are capable of modifying their shape in response to environmental changes, such as temperature, pH, light, electrical/magnetic field, chemical additives, etc. In this review, we focus on the fusion of both types of materials, affording new systems with the potential to revolutionize almost every aspect of our modern life, from healthcare to environmental remediation and energy. The integration of stimuli-triggered self-healing properties into polymeric soft actuators endow environmental friendliness, cost-saving, enhanced safety, and lifespan of functional materials. We discuss the details of the most remarkable examples of self-healing soft actuators that display a macroscopic movement under specific stimuli. The discussion includes key experimental data, potential limitations, and mechanistic insights. Finally, we include a general table providing at first glance information about the nature of the external stimuli, conditions for self-healing and actuation, key information about the driving forces behind both phenomena, and the most important features of the achieved movement.

Abstract
Cyclic polymers have long been reported in the literature, but their development has often been stunted by synthetic difficulties such as the presence of linear contaminants. Research into the synthesis of these polymers has made great progress in the past decade, and this review covers the synthesis, properties, and applications of cyclic polymers, with an emphasis on bio-based aliphatic polyesters. Synthetic routes to cyclic polymers synthesized from bioderived monomers, alongside mechanistic descriptions for both ring closure and ring expansion polymerization approaches, are reviewed. The review also highlights some of the unique physical properties of cyclic polymers together with potential applications. The findings illustrate the substantial recent developments made in the syntheses of cyclic polymers, as well as the progress which can be made in the commercialization of bio-based polymers through the versatility this topology provides.

Abstract
Shape-memory and self-healing polymers have been a hotspot of research in the field of smart polymers in the past decade. Under external stimulation, shape-memory and self-healing polymers can complete programed shape transformation, and they can spontaneously repair damage, thereby extending the life of the materials. In this review, we focus on the progress in polymers with shape-memory and self-healing properties in the past decade. The physical or chemical changes in the materials during the occurrence of shape memory as well as self-healing were analyzed based on the polymer molecular structure. We classified the polymers and discussed the preparation methods for shape-memory and self-healing polymers based on the dynamic interactions which can make the polymers exhibit self-healing properties including dynamic covalent bonds (DA reaction, disulfide exchange reaction, imine exchange reaction, alkoxyamine exchange reaction, and boronic acid ester exchange reaction) and dynamic noncovalent interactions (crystallization, hydrogen bonding, ionic interaction, metal coordination interaction, host-guest interactions, and hydrophobic interactions) and their corresponding triggering conditions. In addition, we discussed the advantages and the mechanism that the shape-memory property promotes self-healing in polymers, as well as the future trends in shape-memory and self-healing polymers.

Abstract
This work is an attempt to develop bio-based eco-friendly poly(benzoxazine-co-urethane) [poly(U-co-CDL-aee)] materials using cardanol-based benzoxazines (CDL) and hexamethylene diisocyanate (HMDI) to check their self-healing ability and thermal properties. CDL monomers were synthesized using cardanol, amino ethoxyethanol (aee) or 3-aminopropanol (3-ap), and paraformaldehyde through the Mannich reaction. Later, CDL-aee or CDL-3-ap monomers were copolymerized with a urethane precursor (HMDI), followed by ring-opening polymerization through thermal curing. The thermal properties of poly(U-co-CDL) were evaluated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The self-healing behavior of the bio-based poly(U-co-CDL) was checked by applying a mild external pressure. The results revealed that the developed poly(U-co-CDL) showed repeatable self-healing ability due to supramolecular hydrogen-bonding interactions. Further, the self-healing ability of poly(U-co-CDL) was studied using density functional theory (DFT). From the above results, the developed material with superior self-healing ability can be used in the form of self-healing coatings and composites for various applications with extended shelf-life and reliability.

Abstract
Developing degradable and self-healable elastomers composed of reusable resources is of great value but is rarely reported because of the undegradable molecular chains. Herein, we report a class of degradable and self-healable vitrimers based on non-isocyanate polyurethane elastomer. Such vitrimers are fabricated by copolymerizing bis(6-membered cyclic carbonate) and amino-terminated liquid nitrile rubber. The networks topologies can rearrange by transcarbonation exchange reactions between hydroxyl and carbonate groups at elevated temperatures; as such, vitrimers after reprocessing can recover 82.9–95.6% of initial tensile strength and 59–131% of initial storage modulus. Interestingly, the networks can be hydrolyzed and decarbonated in the strong acid solution to recover 75% of the pure di(trimethylolpropane) monomer. Additionally, the elastomer exhibits excellent self-healing efficiency (~88%) and fracture strain (~1,200%) by tuning the monomer feeding ratio. Therefore, this work provides a novel strategy to fabricate the sustainable elastomers with minimum environmental impact.

Abstract
Novel homoleptic and heteroleptic (guanidinate)tin(ii) complexes were successfully synthesized and structurally characterized. The first heteroleptic (guanidinato)tin(ii) alkoxide complex was synthesized but found to be unstable leading to the corresponding bis(guanidinate)tin(ii) complex. The catalytic activities of bis(guanidinate)tin(ii) complexes having different substituents at the nitrogen atoms (isopropyl (1), cyclohexyl (2), and p-tolyl (3)) were investigated in the ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of ε-caprolactone (ε-CL) and lactide (LA). The lone-pair electrons of the tin(ii) atom were proposed to act as an initiator similar to N-heterocyclic carbenes. Among the synthesized catalysts, complex 1 having less steric hindrance efficiently catalyzed both homo- and copolymerizations of ε-CL and LA giving high molecular weight cyclic polyesters. Transesterification was found to be the major contributor to the cyclization to cyclic polyesters.

Abstract
The inherent capability to deform and reform in a predefined environment is a unique property existing in shape memory polyurethane. The intrinsic shape memory ability of the polyurethane is due to the presence of macro domains of soft and hard segments in its bulk, which make this material a potential candidate for several applications. This review is focused on manifesting the applicability of shape memory polyurethane and its composites/blends in various domains, especially to human health such as shielding of electromagnetic interference, medical bandage development, bone tissue engineering, self-healing, implants development, etc. A coherent literature review highlighting the prospects of shape memory polyurethane in versatile applications has been presented.

Abstract
Polymer topology exerts a significant effect on its properties and performance for potential applications. Cyclic topology and its derived structures have been recently shown to outperform conventional linear analogues for drug delivery applications. However, an amphiphilic tadpole-shaped copolymer consisting of a cylic hydrophobic moiety has rarely been explored. For this purpose, a tadpole-shaped amphiphilic diblock copolymer of poly(ethylene oxide)-b-(cyclic poly(ε-caprolactone)) (mPEG-b-cPCL) was synthesized successfully via ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of ε-CL using a mPEG-based macroinitiator with both a hydroxyl and an azide termini and subsequent intrachain Cu(I)-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAc) click cyclization. A comparison study on the self-assembly behaviors, in vitro drug loading and drug release profiles, and degradation properties of the resulting mPEG-b-cPCL (C) with those of the linear counterpart (mPEG-b-PCL, L) revealed that mPEG-b-cPCL micelles are a better formulation than the micelles formed by the linear counterparts in terms of micelle stability, drug loading capacity, and the degradation property. Interestingly, compared to the single degradation of L, C exhibited a slower two-stage degradation process including the topological change from tadpole shape to linear conformation and the subsequent degradation of a linear polymer. This study therefore uncovered the topological effect of a hydrophobic moiety on the properties of the self-assembled micelles and developed a complementary alternative to enhance the micelle stability by introducing a cyclic hydrophobic segment.

Abstract
Biological cyclization is highly efficient, and this can be attributed to the conformation of the backbone of the biopolymer. Taking advantage of metal-coordination geometry, we developed a method for conformation-directed polymerization cyclization through rational design of metal carbonyl monomers that could be used to produce cyclic macromolecules, even in bulk. P FpR [P Fp=(PPh2 (CH2 )3 Cp)Fe(CO)2 with the phosphine group tethered on the cyclopentadiene (Cp) ring; R=CH3 or (CH2 )5 CH3 ] was designed and synthesized for migration insertion polymerization to generate P(P FpR) with the polymer backbone containing Cp-Fe bonds. Growth of the backbone led to a cyclic conformation with close end-to-end distances, which facilitated the cyclization. This conformation-directed cyclization was attributed to the piano-stool metal-coordination geometry of the repeating units and the low rotational barrier of the Cp-Fe bonds in the backbone. The produced macrocycles, which contain a metal carbonyl coordination structure in their backbones, are rigid, unlike many organic macrocycles. The macrocycles thus have a large excluded volume. This new type of metal carbonyl macrocycle will be of interest as a building block for supramolecular chemistry and in the exploration of novel materials.
