Abstract
This article explores the asymmetric Michael addition reaction of 2-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone and indole-3-ones catalyzed by cinchona alkaloids. This strategy utilizes 2-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone and easily prepared indole-3-one as substrates, resulting in the synthesis of 23 unprecedented indolin-3-ones bearing a 1,4-naphthoquinone unit at the C2 position of indole under simple and mild reaction conditions, with up to 88% yield, 98% ee, and >20:1 dr.

Abstract
Spirocyclic compounds fascinate the synthetic chemists due to their privileged ring system and efficacy in drug discovery. Many natural compounds comprise spirocyclic moiety in their skeleton and are effective in pharmaceutical industry. Over the years, many synthetic methodologies have been established for the construction of spirocyclic compounds. In this review, recent synthetic approaches to accessing various spirocompounds comprising six-membered carbocycles/heterocycles have been summarized.

Abstract
The ubiquitous presence of spirooxindole architectures with several functionalities and stereogenic centers in bioactive molecules has been appealing for the development of novel methodologies seeking their preparation in high yields and selectivities. Expansion and refinement in the field of asymmetric organocatalysis have made possible the development of straightforward strategies that address these two requisites. In this review, we illustrate the current state-of-the-art in the field of spirooxindole synthesis through the use of non-covalent organocatalysis. We aim to provide a concise overview of very recent methods that allow to the isolation of unique, densely and diversified spirocyclic oxindole derivatives with high structural diversity via the use of cascade, tandem and domino processes.
