Abstract
In this study, a Fe3O4@SiO2@Cyt-Ni/Cu nanocomposite as a novel heterogeneous bimetallic catalyst was synthesized which exhibits efficient performance for the Sonogashira and C-N cross-coupling reactions. The characterization of the catalyst was studied by FT-IR, PXRD, VSM, EDX, TEM, FE-SEM and TGA analyses. The geometry optimization and relative energies of the designed bimetallic complexes were theoretically determined using density functional theory (DFT) calculation at the B3LYP/6-31G**/LANL2DZ level. The catalyst showed good activity in the coupling of various aryl halides with alkynes (Sonogashira reaction) as well as aryl halide with N-heterocycles and achieved coupling products with good to high yields for all of them in a short time. The high catalytic performance could be due to the synergistic effect between Ni and Cu, which causes the reaction to proceed more efficiently. This heterogeneous nanocatalyst could be easily recovered from the reaction mixture with an external magnet and reused for 7 consecutive runs with minimal loss of catalytic activity.

Unsupported Copper Nanoparticles in the Arylation of Amines. Catalysts 2023. [DOI: 10.3390/catal13020331] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 02/05/2023] Open
Abstract
Commercially available copper and copper (II) oxide nanoparticles (CuNPs and CuO NPs) were characterized using TEM and electronography methods to elucidate their true average size and composition. The catalytic amine arylation using unsupported copper nanoparticles differing in their size and copper oxidation state was investigated. The reaction of the model iodobenzene with n-octylamine was shown to be successfully catalyzed by CuNPs of average size 25 and 10/80 nm in the presence of the ligands such as 2-isobutyrylcyclohexanone (L1) and rac-1,1′-bi-2-naphthol (BINOL, L2), giving high yields (up to 95%) of the target N-octylaniline. CuO in bulk and nano forms was shown to be almost equally efficient in this process. Studies on the Cu-catalyzed amination of substituted iodobenzenes and 2-iodopyridine, as well as the arylation of different aliphatic amines and NH-heterocycles, verified that CuNPs (25 or 10/80 nm) with L1 and L2 are the most versatile and efficient nanocatalysts for a variety of substrates. Investigation of copper leaching under different conditions was carried out.

Abstract
Herein, we report practical Cu(BF4)2/activated carbon-catalyzed amination of various anilines, isoquinolinone, and naphthyridinone with aryl boronic acids. The ultrasonic and rotary evaporation treatment of the mixture of aq. Cu(BF4)2 and activated carbon in methanol afforded a novel Cu(II)-catalyst, which is air-stable and can be effectively applied in the Chan-Lam coupling reaction. The products of N-arylation were isolated in good to excellent yields at low catalytic loading. And Cu(BF4)2/AC also showed good reusability.

Abstract
A nanomagnetic hydrophilic heterogeneous copper catalyst, termed γ-Fe2O3@PEG@PAMAM G0-Cu, has been successfully prepared and characterized using FT-IR, XRD, FE-SEM, TEM, EDX, mapping, TGA/DTG, VSM and ICP analyses. The catalyst displayed excellent activity for the palladium-free Sonogashira cross coupling reaction of various aryl iodides and bromides with phenylacetylene derivatives in pure water. The presence of polyethylene glycol coupled with hydrophilic character of the Cu-catalyst adorned on γ-Fe2O3 MNPs provides the ready dispersion of the catalyst particles in water, leading to higher catalytic performance as well as facile catalyst recovery via simple magnetic decantation. The recovered catalyst was reused for at least six successive runs with little reduction in its catalytic activity and any noticeable changes in its structure. The use of water as a green solvent, without requiring any additive or organic solvent, as well as the exploitation of abundant and low-cost copper catalyst instead of expensive Pd catalyst along with the catalyst recovery and scalability, make this method favorable from environmental and economic points of view for the Sonogashira coupling reaction.

Abstract
A convenient Pd- and phosphine-free protocol for assembling internal alkynes from tertiary propargyl alcohols and (het)aryl halides has been developed. The proposed tandem approach includes the base-promoted retro-Favorskii fragmentation followed by Cu-catalyzed C(sp)-C(sp2) cross-coupling. The use of inexpensive reagents (e.g. a catalyst, additives, a base, and a solvent) and good functional group tolerance make the procedure practical and cost-effective. The synthetic utility of the method was demonstrated by a smooth alkynylation of vinyl iodides derived from natural steroidal hormones.

Abstract
In this paper, we report an effective ultrasound method for the synthesis of Pd/H-MOR, which was used as a catalyst in the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling of aryl halides with phenylboronic acid. The structure and morphology of the as-prepared catalysts were fully characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 sorption isotherms, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and an inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometer (ICP-AES). The advantages of Pd/H-MOR in the coupling reaction are green solvents, high yields, absence of ligands, and recyclability. The catalysts were easily reused at least ten times without significant deterioration in catalytic activity. In addition, this protocol was used in the marketed anti-tumor drug crizotinib synthesis.

Abstract
The application of nanoparticles has experienced a vertiginous growth, but their interaction with food and medicinal plants in organisms, especially in the control of reproduction, remains unresolved. We examined the influence of copper nanoparticles supported on titania (CuNPs/TiO2), plant extracts (buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum) and vitex (Vitex agnus-castus)), phytochemicals (rutin and apigenin), and their combination with CuNPs/TiO2 on ovarian cell functions, using cultured porcine ovarian granulosa cells. Cell viability, proliferation (PCNA accumulation), apoptosis (accumulation of bax), and hormones release (progesterone, testosterone, and 17β-estradiol) were analyzed by the Trypan blue test, quantitative immunocytochemistry, and ELISA, respectively. CuNPs/TiO2 increased cell viability, proliferation, apoptosis, and testosterone but not progesterone release, and reduced the 17β-estradiol output. Plant extracts and components have similar stimulatory action on ovarian cell functions as CuNPs/TiO2, but abated the majority of the CuNPs/TiO2 effects. This study concludes that (1) CuNPs/TiO2 can directly stimulate ovarian cell functions, promoting ovarian cell proliferation, apoptosis, turnover, viability, and steroid hormones release; (2) the plants buckwheat and vitex, as well as rutin and apigenin, can promote some of these ovarian functions too; and (3) these plant additives mitigate the CuNPs/TiO2's activity, something that must be considered when applied together.

Abstract
The development of green, economical and sustainable chemical processes is one of the primary challenges in organic synthesis. Herein, we report an efficient and heterogeneous palladium-catalyzed sulfonylation of vinyl cyclic carbonates with sodium sulfinates via decarboxylative cross-coupling. Both aliphatic and aromatic sulfinate salts react with various vinyl cyclic carbonates to deliver the desired allylic sulfones featuring tri- and even tetrasubstituted olefin scaffolds in high yields with excellent selectivity. The process needs only 2 mol% of Pd2(dba)3 and the in situ formed palladium nano-particles are found to be the active catalyst.

Abstract
An efficient cascade approach to thiosubstituted benzoxazoles has been developed. The transformation starts with in situ generation of a diazo compound via annulation-triggered electrocyclic opening of the 1,2,3-triazole ring. The subsequent Cu-catalyzed trapping of diazo intermediates by various thiols affords the desired heterocycles in generally good yields of up to 91%. The protocol features very good functional group tolerance and is applicable to substrates with different electronic properties.

Abstract
Abstract
A mini-review describes the development of the catalysis by Cu(I) complexes aimed at the formation of C–N bond at the Lomonosov MSU during 2010s. The main approach employs the amination of aryl and heteroaryl halides with the amines and polyamines, in this direction a great versatility of starting compounds was achieved: adamantane-containing amines, linear diamines, oxadiamines and polyamines, various aryl iodides and bromides, derivatives of pyridine, and quinoline were used for this purpose. In more peculiar cases, the copper catalysis was used for steroids transformations, including vinylation of azoles, wide-spread “click” reactions for the conjugate syntheses, and successful heterogenezation of the copper catalysts were also undertaken.

Abstract
The aim of this survey is to explore the possible effects of unsupported and supported copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) of different morphologies on basic ovarian cell functions. For this purpose, we have compared the activity of unsupported spherical, triangular, and hexagonal CuNPs, as well as of spherical CuNPs supported on titania, zeolite Y and activated charcoal (0, 1, 10, or 100 ng/mL) on cultured porcine ovarian granulosa cells. Cell viability, proliferation (accumulation of proliferating cell nuclear antigen, PCNA), apoptosis (accumulation of Bcl-2-associated X protein, bax) and release of steroid hormones progesterone, testosterone, and 17β-estradiol have been analyzed by the Trypan blue test, quantitative immunocytochemistry, and ELISA, respectively. Cell viability decreased after treatment with hexagonal CuNPs, whilst all the other CuNPs increased it. Unsupported spherical and hexagonal CuNPs, and spherical CuNPs/titania reduced PCNA accumulation; in contrast, an increase was noted for unsupported triangular CuNPs and CuNPs/zeolite Y. Bax accumulation was not affected by hexagonal CuNPs, whereas CuNPs/zeolite Y promoted it and all the other CuNPs depleted it. The release of all steroid hormones was inhibited by CuNPs/titanium dioxide and stimulated by CuNPs/charcoal, whilst CuNPs/zeolite Y promoted the testosterone and 17β-estradiol output, but not that of progesterone. These results demonstrate the direct, mainly stimulatory, impact of CuNPs on basic ovarian cell functions. The character of the CuNPs' action depends on their shape and support. Therefore, CuNPs with appropriate chemical modification could be potentially useful for the control of reproductive processes and treatment of reproductive disorders.

Abstract
A mutually correlated green protocol has been devised that originates from a sustainable production of β-Ni(OH)2 nanoparticles which is used for an efficient catalytic synthesis of versatile substituted tetrazoles, under mild reaction conditions in water via a simple, one-pot, eco-friendly method. The synthesis is followed by derivatization into a highly fluorescence active compound 9-(4-(5-(quinolin-2-yl)-1H-tetrazol-1-yl)phenyl)-9H-carbazole that can be used at tracer concentrations (0.1 μM) to detect as well as quantify hydrogen peroxide down to 2 μM concentration. The nanocatalyst was synthesized by a simple, proficient, and cost-effective methodology and characterized thoroughly by UV-vis absorption and Fourier transform infrared spectra, N2 adsorption/desorption, high resolution transmission electron microscopy, powder X-ray diffraction pattern, field emission scanning electron microscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. Broad substrate scope, easy handling, higher efficiency, low cost, and reusability of the catalyst are some of the important features of this heterogeneous catalytic system. The strong analytical performance of the resultant derivative in low-level quantification of potentially hazardous hydrogen peroxide is the key success of the overall green synthesis procedure reported here.
