Abstract
The synthesis of a series of ferrocenylvinylketenes as stable η4-[Fe(CO)3] complexes (3a-f) was successfully accomplished through the reaction of η2-[Fe(CO)4] complexes under mild carbonylation conditions. The reactivity of 3a-f under thermal conditions afforded the unexpected formation of a novel family of (μ2,η3-allyl-η5-oxapentadienyl)diiron pentacarbonyl complexes 5a-f proposed to be formed by a sequence metathesis-haptotropic rearrangement between the starting η4-vinylketene iron(0) complex 3 and a η4-vinylcarbene iron(0) complex trapped in situ after a reversible carbonylation process favored by the thermal conditions. An electron density distribution analysis (EDD) of 5e using high-resolution X-ray diffraction data in combination with the DFT framework was performed to understand the electronic communication between the two iron fragments.

Abstract
Allenes (carbodicarbenes) and [3]cumulenes are linear carbon chains that can be bent when the terminal group has a strong carbene nature. This bending can be quite pronounced in allenes but not in [3]cumulenes. In this study, how N-heterocyclic or cyclic (alkyl)(amino) carbene (NHC and CAAC, respectively) terminal groups can modify the linear structure of [n]cumulenes has been analyzed. A low π acidity of the terminal carbene affects the linearity of [2n]cumulenes. Indeed, it has been found that the NHC [4]cumulene is extremely bent, contrary to classical [4]cumulenes. The predicted NHC [4]cumulene or tricarbodicarbene has two lone pairs and the π electrons are delocalized over the whole molecule. More significantly, DFT calculations have shown that this bent [4]cumulene is very stable, considerably more so than the corresponding [3]cumulene, which has been elusive to synthesize. Remarkably, calculations have shown that all the NHC [2n]cumulenes are more than 25 kcal mol-1 more stable than the [2n-1]cumulenes.

Abstract
Interacting Quantum Atoms methodology is used for a detailed analysis of hydrogen abstraction reaction from hydroquinone by methoxy radical. Two pathways are analyzed, which differ in the orientation of the reactants at the corresponding transition states. Although the discrepancy between the two barriers amounts to only 2 kJ/mol, which implies that the two pathways are of comparable probability, the extent of intra-atomic and inter-atomic energy changes differs considerably. We thus demonstrated that Interacting Quantum Atoms procedure can be applied to unravel distinct energy transfer routes in seemingly similar mechanisms. Identification of energy components with the greatest contribution to the variation of the overall energy (intra-atomic and inter-atomic terms that involve hydroquinone's oxygen and the carbon atom covalently bound to it, the transferring hydrogen and methoxy radical's oxygen), is performed using the Relative energy gradient method. Additionally, the Interacting Quantum Fragments approach shed light on the nature of dominant interactions among selected fragments: both Coulomb and exchange-correlation contributions are of comparable importance when considering interactions of the transferring hydrogen atom with all other atoms, whereas the exchange-correlation term dominates interaction between methoxy radical's methyl group and hydroquinone's aromatic ring. This study represents one of the first applications of Interacting Quantum Fragments approach on first order saddle points. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Abstract
Synthetic strategies are presented for the formation of alkynylbis(alkylidynyl)phosphines which represent promising building blocks for unsaturated 2- and 3-dimensional assemblies. Parent ethynyl derivatives provide a means for installing further donor functionalities, e.g., AsPh2 as shown.
