Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a new class of porous crystalline materials constructed from organic ligands and metal ions/clusters. Owing to their unique advantages, they have attracted more and more attention in recent years and numerous studies have revealed their great potential in various applications. Many important applications of MOFs inevitably involve harsh alkaline operational environments. To achieve high performance and long cycling life in these applications, high stability of MOFs against bases is necessary. Therefore, the construction of base-stable MOFs has become a critical research direction in the MOF field. This review gives a historic summary of the development of base-stable MOFs in the last few years. The key factors that can determine the robustness of MOFs under basic conditions are analyzed. We also demonstrate the exciting achievements that have been made by utilizing base-stable MOFs in different applications. In the end, we discuss major challenges for the further development of base-stable MOFs. Some possible methods to address these problems are presented.

Abstract
When metal nanoparticles on supports are made smaller and smaller-to the limit of atomic dispersion-they become cationic and take on new catalytic properties that are only recently being discovered. The synthesis of these materials is reviewed, including their structure characterization-especially by atomic-resolution electron microscopy and X-ray absorption and infrared spectroscopies-and relationships between structure and catalyst performance, for reactions including hydrogenations, oxidations, and the water gas shift. Structure determination is challenging because of the intrinsic nonuniformity of the support surfaces-and therefore the structures on them-but fundamental understanding has advanced rapidly, benefiting from nearly uniform catalysts consisting of metals on well-defined-crystalline-supports and their characterization by spectroscopy and microscopy. Recent advances in atomic-resolution electron microscopy have spurred the field, providing stunning images and deep insights into structure. The iridium catalysts have typically been made from organoiridium precursors, opening the way to understanding and control of the metal-support bonding and ligands on the metal, including catalytic reaction intermediates. Platinum catalysts are usually made with less precision, from salt precursors, but they catalyze a wider array of reactions than the iridium, typically being stable at higher temperatures and seemingly offering rich prospect for discovery of new catalysts.

Abstract
A combined quantum mechanics and classical molecular dynamics approach is used to unravel the effects of structural deformations and heterogeneity on catalytic activity of 2D π-stacked layered metal-organic frameworks. Theory predicts that the flexible nature of these materials creates a complex array of catalytically active sites for oxidative dehydrogenation of propane. Using an ensemble approach and oxygen bond formation energy, as an excellent probe, we investigate the catalytic activity down to the single active site level.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a good platform for the fabrication of single atomic site catalysts (SACs) due to their large specific surface area, rich pore structure, large number of unsaturated coordination metal sites and their intriguing and controllable structures. The influencing factors of each strategy used to synthesize SACs based on MOFs, such as the finetuning ligand strategy, heteroatom doping (N, P, S) strategy, space restriction strategy, bimetallic strategy, metal cluster defect strategy, substrate to capture strategy, and various post-treatment strategies have not been discussed. Here, we will discuss the influencing factors of each strategy and the relationship between the different methods, which are used to synthesize SACs based on MOFs.

Abstract
Recent progress in the synthesis and characterization of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) has opened the door to an increasing number of possible catalytic applications. The great versatility of MOFs creates a large chemical space, whose thorough experimental examination becomes practically impossible. Therefore, computational modeling is a key tool to support, rationalize, and guide experimental efforts. In this outlook we survey the main methodologies employed to model MOFs for catalysis, and we review selected recent studies on the functionalization of their nodes. We pay special attention to catalytic applications involving natural gas conversion.
