Abstract
Face masks with multiple functionalities and exceptional durability have attracted increasing interests during the COVID-19 pandemic. How to integrate the antibacterial property, comfortability during long-time wearing, and breath monitoring capability together on a face mask is still challenging. Here we developed a kind of face mask that assembles the particles-free water-repellent fabric, antibacterial fabric, and hidden breath monitoring device together, resulting in the highly breathable, water-repellent, and antibacterial face mask with breath monitoring capability. Based on the rational design of the functional layers, the mask shows exceptional repellency to micro-fogs generated during breathing while maintaining high air permeability and inhibiting the passage of bacteria-containing aerogel. More importantly, the multi-functional mask can also monitor the breath condition in a wireless and real-time fashion, and collect the breath information for epidemiological analysis. The resultant mask paves the way to develop multi-functional breath-monitoring masks that can aid the prevention of the secondary transmission of bacteria and viruses while preventing potential discomfort and face skin allergy during long-period wearing.

Abstract
Small-scale robots (SSRs) have emerged as promising and versatile tools in various biomedical, sensing, decontamination, and manipulation applications, as they are uniquely capable of performing tasks at small length scales. With the miniaturization of robots from the macroscale to millimeter-, micrometer-, and nanometer-scales, the viscous and surface forces, namely adhesive forces and surface tension have become dominant. These forces significantly impact motion efficiency. Surface engineering of robots with both hydrophilic and hydrophobic functionalization presents a brand-new pathway to overcome motion resistance and enhance the ability to target and regulate robots for various tasks. This review focuses on the current progress and future perspectives of SSRs with hydrophilic and hydrophobic modifications (including both tethered and untethered robots). The study emphasizes the distinct advantages of SSRs, such as improved maneuverability and reduced drag forces, and outlines their potential applications. With continued innovation, rational surface engineering is expected to endow SSRs with exceptional mobility and functionality, which can broaden their applications, enhance their penetration depth, reduce surface fouling, and inhibit bacterial adhesion.

Abstract
To date, multifunctional sensors have aroused widespread concerns owing to their vital roles in the healthcare area. However, there are still significant challenges in the fabrication of functionalized integrated devices. In this work, hydrophobic-hydrophilic patterns are constructed on polyester-spandex-blended knitted fabric surface by the chemical click method, enabling accurate deposition of functionalized materials for sensitive and stable motion and humidity sensing. Representatively, a conductive silver nanowire (Ag NW) network was deliberately deposited on only the designated hydrophilic fabric surface to realize accurate, repeatable, and stable motion sensing. Such a Ag NWs sensor recorded a low electrical resistance (below 60 Ω), stable resistance cycling response (over 2000 cycles), and fast response time to humidity (0.46 s) during the sensing evaluation. In addition to experimental sensing, real human motions, such as mouth-opening and joint-flexing (wrist and neck), could also be detected using the same sensor. Similar promising outputs were also obtained over the humidity sensor fabricated over the same chemical click method, except the sensing material was replaced with polydopamine-modified carboxylated carbon nanotubes. The resultant sensor exhibits excellent sensitivity to not only experimentally adjusted environment humidity but also to the moisture content of breath and skin during daily activities. On top of all these, both sensors were fabricated over highly flexible fabric that offers high wearability, promising great application potential in the field of healthcare monitoring.

Abstract
Chemistry and topography are the two distinct available tools for customizing different bio-inspired liquid wettability including superhydrophobicity, superamphiphobicity, underwater superoleophobicity, underwater superoleophilicity, and liquid infused slippery property. In nature, various living species possessing super and special liquid wettability inherently comprises of distinctly patterned surface topography decorated with low/high surface energy. Inspired from the topographically diverse natural species, the variation in surface topography has been the dominant approach for constructing bio-inspired antiwetting interfaces. However, recently, the modulation of chemistry has emerged as a facile route for the controlled tailoring of a wide range of bio-inspired liquid wettability. This review article aims to summarize the various reports published over the years that has elaborated the distinctive importance of both chemistry and topography in imparting and modulating various bio-inspired wettability. Moreover, this article outlines some obvious advantages of chemical modulation approach over topographical variation. For example, the strategic use of the chemical approach has allowed the facile, simultaneous, and independent tailoring of both liquid wettability and other relevant physical properties. We have also discussed the design of different antiwetting patterned and stimuli-responsive interfaces following the strategic and precise alteration of chemistry for various prospective applications.

Abstract
Microactuators, which can transform external stimuli into mechanical motion at microscale, have attracted extensive attention because they can be used to construct microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and/or microrobots, resulting in extensive applications in a large number of fields such as noninvasive surgery, targeted delivery, and biomedical machines. In contrast to classical 2D MEMS devices, 3D microactuators provide a new platform for the research of stimuli-responsive functional devices. However, traditional planar processing techniques based on photolithography are inadequate in the construction of 3D microstructures. To solve this issue, researchers have proposed many strategies, among which 3D laser printing is becoming a prospective technique to create smart devices at the microscale because of its versatility, adjustability, and flexibility. Here, we review the recent progress in stimulus-responsive 3D microactuators fabricated with 3D laser printing depending on different stimuli. Then, an outlook of the design, fabrication, control, and applications of 3D laser-printed microactuators is propounded with the goal of providing a reference for related research.
