Abstract
Muonium (Mu=μ+e-) is composed of a muon of light isotope of proton (μ+) and electron (e-) and can be used as a light surrogate for a hydrogen atom. In this paper, we investigated addition of muonium to a newly synthesized Mes*-substituted thioformamide (Mes*NHCH=S, Mes*=2,4,6-tBu3C6H2). Transverse-field muon spin rotation (TF-μSR) of a solution sample of the thioformamide confirmed addition of muonium to the sulfur atom leading to the corresponding C-centered radical [Mes*NHC(H)⋅-SMu]. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations assigned a conventional amino(mercapto)methyl radical, in which both nitrogen and carbon were slightly pyramidalized, and the calculated muon hyperfine coupling constant (hfcc) including the muon isotope effect was compatible with the experimentally determined parameter. However, the muon level-crossing resonance (μLCR) spectrum of an anisotropic crystalline sample indicated two paramagnetic species, and the major product showed the considerably larger muon hfcc compared with the conventional structure of the amino(mercapto)methyl radical. The unusual transient muoniated thioformamide with the larger muon hfcc that showed rapid relaxation could be only explained by a transient structure including planarization of the nitrogen and carbon atoms in Mes*NHC(H)⋅-SMu.

Abstract
A N-iodosuccinimide (NIS)-mediated divergent and efficient tandem reaction between fluorinated propargyl amidines and aromatic o-diamines without any metal catalyst and additive under mild reaction conditions was developed for the synthesis of benzo-fused bisimidazoles in moderate to excellent yields. Preliminary mechanistic studies suggested that this reaction proceeded by an intermediate of secondary amine derived from 5-iodomethyl imidazole, and NIS played another role of oxidation reagent to promote the formation of a benzimidazole motif.

Abstract
A photocatalytic C-H disulfuration of indolizines was developed, giving an approach to a wide variety of indolizine-3-disulfides with good yields. Trisulfide dioxides were explored as a high-efficient disulfuration reagent. This disulfuration reaction could be scaled up to grams. Mechanistic studies support a photoinduced pathway involving the generation of indolizine cationic radicals. A bulky alkyl substituent on terminal sulfur of trisulfide dioxide A was necessary for selective formation of disulfide over monosulfide.

Abstract
An atom economical and environmentally benign protocol has been developed for the regioselective C(sp2)-H bond functionalization of indolizines. The acetic acid-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction proceeds under metal-free conditions, producing a wide range of synthetically useful indolizine derivatives. The present protocol showed good functional group tolerance and broad substrate scope in good to excellent yields. Quantum mechanical investigation using density functional theory (DFT) has played a crucial role in understanding that acetic acid is the key player in determining the actual pathway as the catalyst and its ultrafast nature. Different pathways involving inter- and intramolecular proton transfer, with or without acetic acid, were investigated. Calculated results revealed that a proton shuttle mechanism is involved for the least energetic, most favorable acetic acid-catalyzed pathway. Furthermore, regioselectivity has also been explained theoretically.

Abstract
Conjugated polymer particles provide an important platform for the development of theranostic nanoagents. However, the number of biocompatible and foremost biodegradable π-conjugated polymers is limited. Imidazole is a π-conjugated motif that is abundant in biological systems. Oxidative degradation of imidazole is present in nature via enzymatic or free radical processes. In this work, we introduce polymer particles consisting purely of polyimidazole. We employ direct arylation polymerization and adapt it to a dispersion polymerization protocol to yield uniform and narrowly dispersed nanoparticles. We employ this mechanism to produce linear and cross-linked polymer particles to tune the optical properties from fluorescent to photoacoustically active. We show that the particles can be degraded by H2O2 as well as by reactive oxygen species produced by cells and we detect the degradation products. Altogether, our results suggest that polyimidazole particles represent ideal candidates for theranostic applications.

Abstract
To pursue a highly regioselective and efficient reductive Heck reaction, a series of moisture- and air-stable α-diimine palladium precatalysts were rationally designed, readily synthesized, and fully characterized. The relationship between the structures of the palladium complexes and the catalytic properties was investigated. It was revealed that the"bulky-yet-flexible"palladium complexes allowed highly anti-Markovnikov-selective hydroarylation of alkenes with (hetero)aryl bromides under aerobic conditions. Further synthetic application of the present protocol could provide rapid and straightforward access to functional and biologically active molecules.

Abstract
A new family of ferrocenyl-palladacycle complexes Pd(L1)Cl (Pd1) and Pd(L2)Cl (Pd2) were synthesized and characterized by UV-visible, IR, ESI-MS, and NMR spectral studies. The molecular structures of Pd1 and Pd2 were determined by X-ray crystallographic studies. Palladacycle catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions were investigated utilizing the derivatives of phenylboronic acids and substituted chlorobenzenes. Mechanistic investigation authenticated the generation of Pd(0) nanoparticles during the catalytic cycle and the nanoparticles were characterized by XPS, SEM and TEM analysis. Direct C-H arylation of thiazole and isoxazole derivatives employing these ferrocenyl-palladacycle complexes was examined. The reaction model for the arylation reaction implicating the in situ generation of Pd(0) nanoparticles was proposed.
