Abstract
The development of boron reagents is crucial for synthetic chemistry. Herein, we present a scalable and practical synthesis of diborodichloromethane (DBDCM) through the reaction of trichloromethyllithium with bis(pinacolato)diboron (B2 pin2 ). The resulting DBDCM reagent serves as a basic synthetic unit for the construction of various structurally diverse gem-diborylalkanes through controllable C-Cl functionalizations. Moreover, we have developed consecutive tetra-functionalizations of DBDCM for the construction of diverse tertiary and quaternary carbon containing molecules. The use of isotopically enriched 13 C-chloroform and 10 B2 pin2 enables the synthesis of isotopically enriched 13 C-DBDCM and 10 B-DBDCM reagents, which are beneficial for the convenient synthesis of carbon-13 and boron-10 molecules.

Abstract
The construction of acyclic, non-adjacent 1,3-stereogenic centers, prevalent motifs in drugs and bioactive molecules, has been a long-standing synthetic challenge due to acyclic nucleophiles being distant from the chiral environment. In this study, we successfully synthesized highly valuable 1,2-bis(boronic) esters featuring acyclic and nonadjacent 1,3-stereocenters. Notably, this reaction selectively produces migratory coupling products rather than alternative deborylative allylation or direct allylation byproducts. This approach introduces a new activation mode for selective transformations of gem-diborylmethane in asymmetric catalysis. Additionally, we found that other gem-diborylalkanes, previously challenging due to steric hindrance, also successfully participated in this reaction. The incorporation of 1,2-bis(boryl)alkenes facilitated the diversification of the alkenyl and two boron moieties in our target compounds, thereby enabling access to a broad array of versatile molecules. DFT calculations were performed to elucidate the reaction mechanism and shed light on the factors responsible for the observed excellent enantioselectivity and diastereoselectivity. These were determined to arise from ligand-substrate steric repulsions in the syn-addition transition state.

Abstract
Facile and modular access to stereodefined disubstituted aldehyde-derived silyl enol ethers allowed their successful application in a stereoselective aldol reaction affording the products with excellent yields and diastereomeric ratios. The counter-intuitive stereochemical behavior of this Mukaiyama-aldol reaction is accounted for by a non-classical open transition state.

Abstract
Amides are versatile synthetic building blocks and their selective transformations into highly valuable functionalities are much desirable in the chemical world. However, the diverse structure and generally high stability of amides make their selective transformations challenging. Here we disclose a chemodivergent transformation of primary, secondary and tertiary amides by using 1,1-diborylalkanes as pro-nucleophiles. In general, selective B-O elimination occurs for primary, secondary amides and tertiary lactams to generate enamine intermediate, while tertiary amides undergo B-N elimination to generate enolate intermediate. Various in situ electrophilic trapping of those intermediates allows the chemoselective synthesis of α-functionalized ketones, β-aminoketones, enamides, β-ketoamides, γ-aminoketones, and cyclic amines from primary, secondary, tertiary amides and lactams. The key for these transformations is the enolization effect after the addition of α-boryl carbanion to amides. Amides are versatile synthetic building blocks, however the general stability of the amide bond makes its selective transformation challenging. Here, the authors report a chemodivergent transformation of primary, secondary and tertiary amides by using 1,1-diborylalkanes as pro-nucleophiles.

Abstract
A systematic study of radical boron migration in diboronate complexes to form synthetically valuable 1,n-bisborylalkanes is reported. The boronate complexes are readily generated by reaction of commercial bis(pinacolato)diboron with alkyl Grignard compounds. C-radical generation at a defined position with respect to the diboron moiety is achieved either via intermolecular H-abstraction with a CF3-radical or via alkene perfluoroalkyl radical addition. It is shown that radical 1,2- and 1,4-boron migrations to provide geminal and 1,3-bisborylalkanes are efficient transformations. The 1,5-boron migration in the homologous series leading to 1,4-bisborylalkanes is also occurring, albeit with lower efficiency. Experimental results are supported by DFT calculations which also reveal the corresponding 1,3-boron migration in such diboronate complexes to be feasible.

Abstract
An alkoxide-promoted method for the synthesis of ketones from readily available esters and benzyldiboronates is described. The synthetic method is compatible with a host of sterically differentiated alkyl groups, alkenes, acidic protons α to carbonyl groups, tertiary amides, and aryl rings having common organic functional groups. With esters bearing α-stereocenters, high enantiomeric excess was maintained during ketone formation, establishing minimal competing racemization by deprotonation. Monitoring the reaction between benzyldiboronate and LiOtBu in THF at 23 °C allowed for the identification of products arising from deborylation to form an α-boryl carbanion, deprotonation, and alkoxide addition to form an "-ate" complex. Addition of 4-trifluoromethylbenzoate to this mixture established the α-boryl carbanion as the intermediate responsible for C-C bond formation and ultimately ketone synthesis. Elucidation of the role of this intermediate leveraged additional bond-forming chemistry and enabled the one-pot synthesis of ketones with α-halogen atoms and quaternary centers with four-different carbon substituents.

Abstract
A series of in situ formed alkenyl diboronate complexes from alkenyl Grignard reagents (commercially available or prepared from alkenyl bromides and Mg) with B2 Pin2 (bis(pinacolato)diboron) react with diverse alkyl halides by a Ru photocatalyst to give various gem-bis(boryl)alkanes. Alkyl radicals add efficiently to the alkenyl diboronate complexes, and the adduct radical anions undergo radical-polar crossover, specifically, a 1,2-boryl-anion shift from boron to the α-carbon sp2 center. This transformation shows good functional-group compatibility and can serve as a powerful synthetic tool for late-stage functionalization in complex compounds. Measurements of the quantum yield reveal that a radical-chain mechanism is operative in which the alkenyl diboronates acts as reductive quencher for the excited state of the photocatalyst.

Abstract
The compounds with a quaternary α-aryl aldehyde skeleton are important units in organic chemistry. Previously, the aryl group and carbonyl group are introduced in a stepwise manner. Herein, a novel route is developed to construct the quaternary α-aryl aldehydes with gem-bis(boronates) as precursors, in which the two groups are installed simultaneously. The gem-bis(boronates) are readily available from ketones; as a result, this methodology provides a more general strategy to produce the quaternary α-aryl aldehydes with broad scopes and synthetic convenience.
