Abstract
The reaction of 8-amino-quinoline, zinc chloride and hydro-chloric acid in ethanol yielded the title salt, (C9H10N2)[ZnCl4], which consists of a planar 8-aza-n-ium-yl-quinolinium dication and a tetra-hedral tetra-chloro-zincate dianion. The 8-amino-quinoline moiety is protonated at both the amino and the ring N atoms. In the crystal, the cations and anions are connected by inter-molecular N-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, forming sheets parallel to (001). Adjacent sheets are linked through π-π inter-actions involving the pyridine and arene rings of the 8-aza-niumylquinolinium dication. Hirshfeld surface analysis indicates that the most important contributions to the crystal packing are from H⋯Cl (48.1%), H⋯H (19.9%), H⋯C/C⋯H (14.3%) (involving the cations) and H⋯Cl (82.6%) (involving the anions) interactions.

Abstract
As a new class of porous crystalline materials, hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (HOFs) assembled from building blocks by hydrogen bonds have gained increasing attention. HOFs benefit from advantages including mild synthesis, easy purification, and good recyclability. However, some HOFs transform into unstable frameworks after desolvation, which hinders their further applications. Nowadays, the main challenges of developing HOFs lie in stability improvement, porosity establishment, and functionalization. Recently, more and more stable and permanently porous HOFs have been reported. Of all these design strategies, stronger charge-assisted hydrogen bonds and coordination bonds have been proven to be effective for developing stable, porous, and functional solids called hybrid HOFs, including ionic and metallized HOFs. This Review discusses the rational design synthesis principles of hybrid HOFs and their cutting-edge applications in selective inclusion, proton conduction, gas separation, catalysis and so forth.

Abstract
Self-assembly of two Zn-MOFs, [Zn2L(DMF)3]·H2O·5DMF (1) and [Zn2L(H2O)2]·4H2O·3DMF (2), was achieved with an amide-functionalized tetracarboxylate ligand under similar conditions. Incorporated amide groups make the tetratopic linkers exhibit different configurations, tetrahedron and square, and subsequently combine tetrahedral [Zn2(CO2)4] clusters or square paddle-well [Zn2(CO2)4] clusters to afford a lon net for 1 and a nbo net for 2. Remarkably, 2 demonstrated high porosity and amide group decorated cages, and thereby proved to be a good capturing agent for a fluorescent dye molecule (DMASM). Consequently, a dual-emitting DMASM@2 sensor was successfully fabricated based on effective energy transfer from the host framework to DMASM with the variable luminescent color being visible to the naked eye. DMASM@2 could be used for the detection of metronidazole (MDZ) and dimetridazole (DTZ) with high sensitivity and remarkable recyclability.

Abstract
The synthesis, crystal structure and (photo)magnetic properties of the anhydrous spin crossover salt of formula [Fe(bpp)2](C6H8O4) (1) (bpp = 2,6-bis(pyrazol-3-yl)pyridine; C6H8O4 = adipate dianion), obtained by desolvation at 400 K of the original tetrahydrate in a single-crystal-to-single-crystal (SC-SC) transformation, are reported. This work offers a comparison between this compound and the previously reported hydrated material ([Fe(bpp)2](C6H8O4)·4H2O, 1·4H2O), highlighting the significance of the thermal conditions used in the dehydration-rehydration processes. In both compounds, a hydrogen-bonded network between iron(ii) complexes and adipate anions is observed. The original tetrahydrate (1·4H2O) is low-spin and desolvation at 450 K triggers a low-spin (LS) to high-spin (HS) transition to an amorphous phase that remains stable over the whole temperature range of study. Surprisingly, the dehydrated compound at 400 K (1) keeps the crystallinity, undergoes a partial spin crossover (T1/2 = 180 K) and a quantitative LS to HS photomagnetic conversion at low temperatures, with a T(LIESST) value of 61 K.

Abstract
4-(tert-Butylsulfanyl)-2,6-di(pyrazol-1-yl)pyridine (L) was obtained in low yield from a one-pot reaction of 2,4,6-trifluoropyridine with 2-methylpropane-2-thiolate and sodium pyrazolate in a 1:1:2 ratio. The materials [FeL2 ][BF4 ]2 ⋅solv (1[BF4 ]2 ⋅solv) and [FeL2 ][ClO4 ]2 ⋅solv (1[ClO4 ]2 ⋅solv; solv=MeNO2 , MeCN or Me2 CO) exhibit a variety of structures and spin-state behaviors including thermal spin-crossover (SCO). Solvent loss on heating 1[BF4 ]2 ⋅x MeNO2 (x≈2.3) occurs in two steps. The intermediate phase exhibits hysteretic SCO around 250 K, involving a "reverse-SCO" step in its warming cycle at a scan rate of 5 K min-1 . The reverse-SCO is not observed in a slower 1 K min-1 measurement, however, confirming its kinetic nature. The final product [FeL2 ][BF4 ]2 ⋅0.75 MeNO2 was crystallographically characterized, and shows abrupt but incomplete SCO at 172 K which correlates with disorder of an L ligand. The asymmetric unit of 1[BF4 ]2 ⋅y Me2 CO (y≈1.6) contains five unique complex molecules, four of which undergo gradual SCO in at least two discrete steps. Low-spin 1[ClO4 ]2 ⋅0.5 Me2 CO is not isostructural with its BF4 - congener, and undergoes single-crystal-to-single-crystal solvent loss with a tripling of the crystallographic unit cell volume, while retaining the P 1 ‾ space group. Three other solvate salts undergo gradual thermal SCO. Two of these are isomorphous at room temperature, but transform to different low-temperature phases when the materials are fully low-spin.

Abstract
We have added the {ReIV X5 }- (X=Br, Cl) synthon to a pocket-based ligand to provide supramolecular design using halogen⋅⋅⋅halogen interactions within an FeIII system that has the potential to undergo spin crossover (SCO). By removing the solvent from the crystal lattice, we "switch on" halogen⋅⋅⋅halogen interactions between neighboring molecules, providing a supramolecular cooperative pathway for SCO. Furthermore, changes to the halogen-based interaction allow us to modify the temperature and nature of the SCO event.

Abstract
Six cobalt-organic frameworks (1-6) were solvothermally constructed with a tritopic pyridine-carboxylate linker (L-H) and its methyl- and methoxy-functionalized derivatives (L-OCH3 and L-CH3). Due to incorporated multiple substituents with various steric hindrances, the tritopic linkers adopt different molecular configurations, Y-shaped and T-shaped, which further combine octahedral or trigonal-prismatic inorganic nodes to afford diverse (3,6)-connected nets. Consequently, 1 and 2 are rtl nets and 3 and 4 are ant nets. Notably, 5 and 6 present rarely observed chiral anh (flu-3) networks with left-handed double helical chains. The structural investigation indicates that the steric tuning of linkers may essentially dictate the resulting diverse MOF structures. Furthermore, the MOFs presented here can be regarded as an ideal structural platform for a better understanding of the assembly of (3,6)-connected rtl, ant, and chiral anh nets, which are closely related to the shape and geometric configuration/conformation of tridentate organic nodes as well as inorganic building nodes.

Abstract
A mononuclear iron(II) complex bearing the linear pentadentate N5 Schiff-base ligand containing two 1,2,3-triazole moieties and the MeCN monodentate ligand, [FeIIMeCN(L3-Me-3Ph)](BPh4)2·MeCN·H2O (1), have been prepared (L3-Me-3Ph = bis(N,N′-1-Phenyl-1H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl-methylideneaminopropyl)methylamine). Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements revealed an incomplete one-step spin crossover (SCO) from the room-temperature low-spin (LS, S = 0) state to a mixture of the LS and high-spin (HS, S = 2) species at the higher temperature of around 400 K upon first heating, which is irreversible on the consecutive cooling mode. The magnetic modulation at around 400 K was induced by the crystal-to-amorphous transformation accompanied by the loss of lattice MeCN solvent, which was evident from powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) studies and themogravimetry. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies showed that the complex is in the LS state (S = 0) between 296 and 387 K. In the crystal lattice, the complex-cations and B(1)Ph4− ions are alternately connected by intermolecular CH···π interactions between the methyl group of the MeCN ligand and phenyl groups of B(1)Ph4− ions, forming a 1D chain structure. The 1D chains are further connected by P4AE (parallel fourfold aryl embrace) interactions between two neighboring complex-cations, constructing a 2D extended structure. B(2)Ph4− ions and MeCN lattice solvents exist in the spaces of the 2D layer. DFT calculations verified that the 1,2,3-triazole-containing ligand L3-Me-3Ph gives a stronger ligand field around the octahedral coordination environment of the iron(II) ion than the analogous imidazole-containing ligand H2L2Me (= bis(N,N′-2-methylimidazol-4-yl-methylideneaminopropyl)methylamine) of the known compound [FeIIMeCN(H2L2Me)](BPh4)1.5·Cl0.5·0.5MeCN (2) reported by Matsumoto et al. (Nishi, K.; Fujinami, T.; Kitabayashi, A.; Matsumoto, N. Tetrameric spin crossover iron(II) complex constructed by imidazole⋯chloride hydrogen bonds. Inorg. Chem. Commun. 2011, 14, 1073–1076), resulting in the much higher spin transition temperature of 1 than that of 2.

Abstract
Solvated crystals of “[FeL2][BF4]2·H2O” (L = 2-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)-6-(pyrazol-1-yl)pyridine) contain a 1D coordination polymer [Fe(μ-L)2{Fe(OH2)2L2}][BF4]4, with κ1:κ3,μ-L coordination.
