Abstract
Bioactive heterocycles such as benzofuran and indole derivatives were synthesized from commercially available 2-iodoarenes and alkynes via domino Sonogashira coupling followed by cyclization reaction using well-defined palladium PEPPSI (Pyridine Enhanced Precatalyst Preparation Stabilization and Initiation) complexes (2a and 2b). These reactions tolerate a variety of 2-iodoarenes and diversely substituted terminal alkynes, resulting in the corresponding product in moderate to good yields in an open-air atmosphere. In particular, two palladium(ii) PEPPSI complexes 2a and 2b were synthesized in good yields from the reaction of corresponding 1,2,3-triazol-5-ylidene (MIC: mesoionic carbene), PdCl2, KI, and K2CO3 in pyridine at 110 °C and structurally characterized by various spectroscopic techniques including NMR spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, HRMS and elemental analysis studies. Complex 2b is also characterized by X-ray crystallography.

Abstract
A novel family of indole-amide-based phosphine ligands was designed and synthesized. The Pd/InAm-phos (L1) catalytic system exhibited excellent efficiency in the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling of sterically hindered (hetero)aryl chlorides to synthesize tri-ortho-substituted biaryls. Excellent product yields were obtained in a short reaction time (e.g., 10 min), and a Pd catalyst loading down to 50 ppm was also achieved. The oxidative addition adduct of Pd-L1 with 2-chlorotoluene was also well-characterized by single-crystal X-ray crystallography and showed a κ2-P,O-coordination of L1 with palladium.

Abstract
A series of RuII (1), RhIII (2), IrIII (3, 4), IrI (5) and PdII (6-9) complexes of the 'instant carbene' nitron were prepared and characterized by 1H- and 13C-NMR, FT-IR and elemental analysis. The molecular structures of complexes 1-4 and 6 were determined by X-ray diffraction studies. The catalytic activity of the complexes (1-9) was evaluated in alpha(α)-alkylation reactions of ketones with alcohol via the borrowing hydrogen strategy under mild conditions. These complexes were able to perform this catalytic transformation in a short time with low catalyst and base amounts under an air atmosphere. Also, the PdII-nitron complexes (6-9) were applied in the Suzuki-Miyaura C-C coupling reaction and these complexes successfully initiated this reaction in a short time (30 minutes) using the H2O/2-propanol (1.5 : 0.5) solvent system. The DFT calculations revealed that the Pd0/II/0 pathway was more preferable for the mechanism.

Abstract
Sugar-based imidazolium salts (IMSs) represent an outstanding type of material making them eye-catching for a wide variety of applications. Herein, a series of glucoside-based IMSs (Glu-IMSs) combining glucoside and imidazolium head groups with different substituents were synthesized. The catalytic activities of these Glu-IMSs were evaluated by Pd-catalyzed Heck-Mizoroki and Suzuki-Miyaura reactions in water. Among them, the Glu-IMSs contain both -OH and NHCs coordination sites was found to be the most efficient ancillary ligand in comparison with other Glu-IMSs with just single NHCs coordination site. The HR-TEM analysis showed that the palladium nanoparticles stabilized by the Glu-IMSs with an average size of ~4.0 nm was formed in the reaction system, which may be act as an efficient real catalytic species. Under the optimized reaction conditions, a series of novel fluorine-cored organic small molecule functional materials were synthesized with favorable yields.
