Abstract
Cinnamides are common core structures that exist in a great number of pharmaceuticals and natural products. The development of efficient methods for preparing cinnamides is in great need. We report herein an efficient polyphosphoric acid (PPA)-promoted direct aldol condensation of an amide for the convenient and straightforward preparation of cinnamides. A variety of cinnamides were obtained in moderate-to-excellent yields (65-89%). This strategy features the use of equivalent amides and a short reaction time.

Abstract
We have developed a metal-free photocatalytic selective hydroxylation of benzylic methylenes to secondary alcohols. This approach utilizes low-cost eosin Y as photocatalyst, O2 as green oxidant, and inexpensive triethylamine as inhibitor for overoxidation. The mild reaction conditions enable the production of secondary alcohols with 56-95% yields, making it a promising and environmental-friendly method for the synthesis of secondary alcohols from benzylic methylenes.

Abstract
A mild and eco-friendly visible-light-induced synthesis of 2-(2-hydrazinyl) thiazole from readily accessible thiosemicarbazide, carbonyl, and phenacyl bromide in the absence of a metal catalyst and/or any extrinsic photosensitizer is reported. This approach only requires a source of visible light and a green solvent at room temperature to produce the medicinally privileged scaffolds of hydrazinyl-thiazole derivatives in good to outstanding yields. Experimental studies support the in situ formation of a visible-light-absorbing, photosensitized colored ternary EDA complex. The next step is to prepare a pair of radicals in an excited state, which makes it easier to prepare thiazole derivatives through a SET and PCET process. DFT calculations additionally supported the mechanistic analysis of the course of the reaction. The antioxidant and antidiabetic properties of some of the compounds in the synthesized library were tested in vitro. All the investigated compounds demonstrated appreciable antioxidant activity, as evidenced by the reducing power experiment and the IC50 values of the DPPH radical scavenging experiment. Furthermore, the IC50 values for 4c, 4d, and 4g also demonstrated a strong α-amylase inhibitory effect.

Abstract
A new photocatalyzed route to amides from alcohols and amines mediated by visible light is presented. The reaction is carried out in ethyl acetate as a solvent. Ethyl acetate can be defined a green and bio-based solvent. The starting materials such as the energy source are easily available, stable, and inexpensive. The reaction has shown to be general and high yielding.

Abstract
A practical and direct method for oxidative cross-coupling of alkenes with dialkylformamides is established employing visible-light-enabled photoredox catalysis. This strategy allows efficient access to diverse unsaturated amides under mild reaction conditions. The application of an appropriate diaryliodonium salt was demonstrated to be critical to the success of this process. This catalyst system is well tolerant of a variety of useful functional groups.

Abstract
A transition metal-free radical process for the selective α,β-dehydrogenation of saturated amides under mild conditions is developed. Utilizing radical activation strategy, the challenging issue associated with the low α-acidity of amides is resolved. For the first time, α,β-unsaturated Weinreb amides and acrylamides could be efficiently prepared directly from corresponding saturated amides. Mechanistic studies confirm the radical nature of this transformation. Two gram scale α,β-dehydrogenation have also been performed to demonstrate the utility of this method.
