Abstract
A novel conjugated polymer (Co-P[5]Flu) was synthesized by copolymerizing a difunctionalized pillar[5]arene and a fluorene derivative monomer. Co-P[5]Flu displayed an aggregation-induced emission enhancement (AIEE) effect because of the restricted intramolecular rotations of the pillar[5]arene unit. Co-P[5]Flu exhibited high selectivity and sensitivity towards the pesticide paraquat (PQ) with excellent anti-interference properties. It presented fluorescence quenching response (1-I/I0=96.6%) only towards paraquat and not towards other competitive guests. The fluorescence titration experiments revealed that the detection limit (LOD) for paraquat was as low as 1.69×10-8 M, and the Stern-Volmer constant (KSV) was determined to be 2.11×104 M-1. The recognition mechanism was studied using both 1H NMR titration and theoretical calculations. The Co-P[5]Flu showed fluorescence quenching for PQ due to the synergistic effect of polypseudorotaxane formation and photoinduced electron transfer (PET). Additionally, the polymer chemosensor demonstrated potential for the detection of paraquat in practical samples.

Abstract
The investigation of the properties of aggregate materials is highly interesting because the process of aggregation can result in the disappearance of original properties and the emergence of new ones. Here, a novel fluorescent material (TPEIP), which synergistically combines aggregation-induced emission (AIE) and aggregation caused quenching (ACQ) moieties, was first synthesized by the cyclization reaction of 2,3-diamino-phenazine with 4-tetraphenylenthenealdehyde. We controlled the degree of aggregation of TPEIP to shed light on the impact of the aggregation on the excited state dynamics. TPEIP aggregation realized control over the Intersystem Crossing (ISC) rates and, in turn, the suppression of triplet excited states in MeOH, EtOH or via the simple addition of water to TPEIP solutions in DMSO. From global target analysis, the time scale was 966.2 ps for ISC for TPEIP in DMSO, but it was 860 ps in the case of TPEIP solutions featuring 5% water. The dynamics of TPEIP excited states undergo significant changes as the degree of aggregation increases. Notably, the lifetime of singlet excited states decreases, and there was a gradual diminishment in triplet states.

Abstract
A novel Fe(iii)-based gel was synthesized via the self-assembly of Fe(iii) and pyridine 2,6 dicarboxylic acid. The synthesized gel has remarkable mechanical strength as well as self-sustainability. The metallogel also has thixotropic as well as self-healing properties. The metallogel shows amazing colourimetric NH3 sensing with unique gel-to-gel transformation. Magnetic studies on the as-synthesized gel reveal significant cryogenic magnetic cooling behavior. Last but not least, to the best of our knowledge, this would be the first case where MCE is investigated for any reported metallogel.

Abstract
Supramolecular gels constructed from low-molecular-weight gelators via noncovalent interactions have received increasing attention. The rapid development of stimuli-responsive supramolecular gels with attractive properties is highly desirable to meet the ever-growing demand of materials science and chemistry. The inherent reversible and dynamic nature of noncovalent interactions in supramolecular gels endows the materials with sensing, processing, and actuating functions in response to specific environmental changes and offers them great potential in flexible biomaterials and intelligent devices. In particular, pillar[n]arenes with symmetrical pillar-shaped architectures have been recognized as an emerging class of synthetic macrocycles after crown ethers, cyclodextrins, calixarenes, and cucurbiturils, and proven to be excellent candidates for the fabrication of functional supramolecular gels due to their many advantages including facile synthesis, diverse functionalization, and appealing host-guest properties. This review provides a comprehensive overview of recent progress in supramolecular gels involving pillar[n]arenes and their derivatives as synthetic macrocyclic arenes, from the viewpoints of the synthetic approach, controllable assembly, stimuli-responsiveness, and functions. Perspectives of this burgeoning field of research are also given at the end.

Abstract
The combination of supramolecular chemistry and nanotechnology has potentially applied in the construction of biosensors, and thus improves the analytical performance and robustness of electron devices. Herein, a new sandwich-type DNA sensor was constructed for ultrasensitive determination of hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA, a recognized marker for chronic hepatitis B. The water-soluble pillar[5]arene stabilized Pd NPs combined with reduced graphene oxide nanosheet (WP5-Pd/RGO) was synthesized and employed as supporting material for the modification of electrode surface. The probe DNA was immobilized onto the electrode surface through a new strategy based on the host-guest interaction between WP5 and methylene blue labeled DNA (MB-DNA). Moreover, MOF-derived cobalt sulfide nanobox was prepared to anchor the hydroxylatopillar[5]arene stabilized Au NPs (HP5-Au/CoS), which had superior electrocatalytic performance towards H2O2 reduction to achieve signal amplification. Under the optimized conditions, the proposed sensor displayed a linear relationship between amperometric currents and the logarithm of tDNA solution from 1 × 10-15 mol/L to 1 × 10-9 mol/L, and a low detection limit of 0.32 fmol/L. What's more, the DNA sensor had remarkable behaviors of stability, reproducibility, specificity, and accuracy, which provided a potential and promising prospect for clinical diagnosis and analysis.

Abstract
A novel supramolecular aggregation induced emission (AIE) π-gel (ONT) was constructed by using a functionalized trimesic amide (TCP) molecule assembled with a bis-pyridine functionalized naphthalene diimide (ND) molecule using a non-covalent interaction. The ONT showed strong AIE at 468 nm. Furthermore, the ONT could detect and adsorb ferric (Fe3+) or cupric (Cu2+) ions from water. Meanwhile, a thin film based on supramolecular AIE π-gel ONT was prepared, which could be used as a fluorescent security display material for detecting Fe3+ or Cu2+. Thus, the AIE π-gel ONT shows potential for practical applications in efficient multi-analyte detection and separation and as a fluorescent display material.

An azine-containing bispillar[5]arene-based multi-stimuli responsive supramolecular pseudopolyrotaxane gel for effective adsorption of rhodamine B. SOFT MATTER 2019; 15:6836-6841. Abstract
An azine-containing bispillar[5]arene was designed and synthesized by the reaction of aldehyde functionalized-pillar[5]arene and hydrazine. Then, a novel bispillar[5]arene-based supramolecular pseudopolyrotaxane has been successfully prepared via host-guest interaction. Interestingly, by taking advantage of the host-guest interactions, π-π stacking interactions and hydrogen bonding interactions, the multi-stimuli-responsive gel-sol phase transitions of such a supramolecular pseudopolyrotaxane gel were successfully realized under different stimuli, such as acid, temperature, concentration, and competitive guests. Moreover, this supramolecular system could effectively adsorb dye molecule rhodamine B. It is worth noting that this supramolecular pseudopolyrotaxane gel prepared in cyclohexanol solution (BP5·G·C) could be used as an adsorbent material for adsorbing rhodamine B with adsorption efficiency of 98.4%. Meanwhile, the adsorption efficiency was 97.6% for supramolecular pseudopolyrotaxane gel prepared in DMSO-H2O (v : v, 8 : 2) binary solution (BP5·G·D), also indicating the superior adsorption effect of BP5·G·D toward the dye molecule rhodamine B.
