Abstract
A novel thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitter, DCNP-SCF, is developed based on a dicyanophenanthrene acceptor. DCNP-SCF is prepared by a simple C-N coupling reaction. Its thermal, theoretical, photophysical, and electroluminescent properties are investigated, emphasizing its potential in organic electroluminescence devices. DCNP-SCF demonstrates highly distorted donor-acceptor conformation, facilitating significant TADF for efficient triplet harvesting in electroluminescence devices. Additionally, due to the moderate electron push-pull effect, DCNP-SCF exhibits appropriate intramolecular charge transfer for considerable photoluminescence quantum yield for electroluminescence applications.

Abstract
Systematically tuning and optimizing the properties of synthetic nanographenes (NGs) is particularly important for NG applications in diverse areas. Herein, by devising novel electron donor-acceptor (D-A) type structures, we reported a series of multi-heteroatom-doped NGs possessing an electron-rich chalcogen and electron-deficient pyrimidine or pyrimidinium rings. Comprehensive experimental and theoretical investigations revealed significantly different physical, optical, and energetic properties compared to the non-doped HBC or chalcogen-doped, non-D-A analogues. Some intriguing properties of the new NGs such as unique electrostatically oriented molecular stacking, red-shifted optical spectra, solvatochromism, and enhanced triplet excitons were observed due to the formation of the D-A electron pattern. More importantly, these D-A type structures can serve as photosensitizers to generate efficiently reactive-oxygen species (ROS), and the structure-related photosensitization capacity that strengthens the electron transfer (ET) process leads to significantly enhanced ROS which was revealed by experimental and calculated studies. As a result, the cell-based photodynamic therapy (PDT) indicated that the cationic NG 1-Me+ is a robust photosensitizer with excellent water-solubility and biocompatibility.

Abstract
Solution-processed and efficient yellow quantum dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs) are considered key optoelectronic devices for lighting, display, and signal indication. However, limited synthesis routes for yellow quantum dots (QDs), combined with inferior stress-relaxation of the core-shell interface, pose challenges to their commercialization. Herein, a nanostructure tailoring strategy for high-quality yellow CdZnSe/ZnSe/ZnS core/shell QDs using a "stepwise high-temperature nucleation-shell growth" method is introduced. The synthesized CdZnSe-based QDs effectively smoothed the release stress of the core-shell interface and revealed a near-unit photoluminescence quantum yield, with nonblinking behavior and matched energy level, which accelerated radiative recombination and charge injection balance for device operation. Consequently, the yellow CdZnSe-based QLEDs exhibited a peak external quantum efficiency of 23.7%, a maximum luminance of 686 050 cd m-2, and a current efficiency of 103.2 cd A-1, along with an operating half-lifetime of 428 523 h at 100 cd m-2. To the best of the knowledge, the luminance and operational stability of the device are found to be the highest values reported for yellow LEDs. Moreover, devices with electroluminescence (EL) peaks at 570-605 nm exhibited excellent EQEs, surpassing 20%. The work is expected to significantly push the development of RGBY-based display panels and white LEDs.

Abstract
The possibility of generating azomethine ylides from 11H-benzo[4,5]imidazo[1,2-a]indol-11-one and amino acids is shown for the first time. Based on the cycloaddition reactions of these azomethine ylides with cyclopropenes and maleimides, cyclopropa[a]pyrrolizines, 3-azabicyclo[3.1.0]hexanes, and pyrrolo[3,4-a]pyrrolizines spiro-fused with a benzo[4,5]imidazo[1,2-a]indole fragment were synthesized. Spirocyclic compounds were obtained in moderate to good yields, albeit with poor diastereoselectivity. Density functional theory calculations were performed to obtain an insight into the mechanism of the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of 11H-benzo[4,5]imidazo[1,2-a]indol-11-one-derived azomethine ylides to cyclopropenes. The cytotoxic activity of some of the obtained cycloadducts against the human erythroleukemia (K562) cell line was evaluated in vitro by MTS-assay.

Abstract
To date, all efficient host materials reported for phosphorescent OLEDs (PhOLEDs) are constructed with heteroatoms, which have a crucial role in the device performance. However, it has been shown in recent years that the heteroatoms not only increase the design complexity but can also be involved in the instability of the PhOLED, which is nowadays the most important obstacle to overcome. Herein, we design pure aromatic hydrocarbon materials (PHC) as very efficient hosts in high-performance white and blue PhOLEDs. With EQE of 27.7 %, the PHC-based white PhOLEDs display similar efficiency as the best reported with heteroatom-based hosts. Incorporated as a host in a blue PhOLED, which are still the weakest links of the technology, a very high EQE of 25.6 % is reached, surpassing, for the first time, the barrier of 25 % for a PHC and FIrpic blue emitter. This performance shows that the PHC strategy represents an effective alternative for the future development of the OLED industry.

Abstract
A new class of yellow- to red-emitting carbazolylgold(III) complexes containing isomeric thienopyridine or thienoquinoline moieties in the cyclometalating ligand has been designed and synthesized, which showed high photoluminescence quantum yields of over 80% in solid-state thin films. The isomeric effect and extended π-conjugation of the N-heterocycles have been found to remarkably perturb the photophysical, electrochemical and electroluminescence properties of the gold(III) complexes. In particular, the operational lifetimes of organic light-emitting devices based on that incorporated with thieno[2,3-c]pyridine are almost three orders of magnitude longer than that incorporated with thieno[3,2-c]pyridine. This has led to long device operational stability with a LT70 value of up to 63 200 h at a luminance of 100 cd m-2 and a long half-lifetime of 206 800 h, as well as maximum external quantum efficiencies of up to 8.6% and 14.5% in the solution-processed and vacuum-deposited devices, respectively. This work provides insights into the development of robust and highly luminescent gold(III) complexes and the identification of stable molecular motifs for designing efficient emitters.

Abstract
By combining the blue and orange CPL or functionalized bis-benzoxanethones emitters (S-/R-BN-tCz and S-/R-BN-PXZ), warm white CP-OLEDs were fabricated using solution-processed single emitting layer strategy. The successful realization of white CP-EL benefited from the same stable binaphthyl chirality and similar rigid structure of the two emissive CPL emitters. The devices exhibited the low turn-on voltage of ≈4.3 V, maximum luminance of ≈10200 cd m-2 and maximum current efficiency of ≈2.0 cd A-1 . Most significantly, the devices with CIE coordinates of (0.32, 0.45) displayed intense CP-EL signals in the spectral range of 450 to 650 nm, and showed stable gEL values of ≈10-3 as the luminance increased from 100 to 6000 cd m-2 . To the best of our knowledge, this work provides for the first time a simple and feasible strategy to fabricate solution-processed white CP-OLEDs based on the co-doping of the CPL emitters.

Abstract
In the field of phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes (PhOLEDs), designing high-efficiency universal host materials for red, green and blue (RGB) phosphors has been quite a challenge. To date, most of the high-efficiency universal hosts reported incorporate heteroatoms, which have a crucial role in the device performance. However, the introduction of different kinds of heterocycles increases the design complexity and cost of the target material and also creates potential instability in the device performance. In this work, we show that pure aromatic hydrocarbon hosts designed with the 9,9′-spirobifluorene scaffold are high-efficiency and versatile hosts for PhOLEDs. With external quantum efficiencies of 27.3%, 26.0% and 27.1% for RGB PhOLEDs respectively, this work not only reports the first examples of high-efficiency pure hydrocarbon materials used as hosts in RGB PhOLEDs but also the highest performance reported to date for a universal host (including heteroatom-based hosts). This work shows that the PHC design strategy is promising for the future development of the OLED industry as a high-performance and low-cost option. In this work, we propose pure hydrocarbon materials as universal hosts for high-efficiency red, green and blue phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes.![]()

Abstract
4,7-Bisphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline (BPhen) is a promising electron transport material (ETM) and has been widely used in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) because of the large electron mobility and easy fabrication process. However, its low glass transition temperature would lead to poor device stability. In the past decades, various attempts have been carried out to improve its thermal stability though always be accomplished by the reduced electron mobility. Here, we present a molecular engineering to modulate the properties of BPhen, and through which, a versatile BPhen derivative (4,7-bis(naphthalene-β-yl)-1,10-phenanthroline, β-BNPhen) with high thermal stability (glass transition temperature = 111.9 °C), large electron mobility (7.8 × 10-4 cm2/(V s) under an electrical field of 4.5 × 105 V/cm) and excellent n-doping ability with an air-stable metal of Ag is developed and used as multifunctional layers to improve the efficiency and enhance the stability of OLEDs. This work elucidates the great importance of our molecular engineering methodology and device structure optimization strategy, unlocking the potential of 1,10-phenanthroline derivatives towards practical applications.

Abstract
Phosphorescence/fluorescence hybrid white organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) are highly appealing for solid-state lighting. One major challenge is how to fully utilize the electrically generated excitons for light output. Herein, an efficient strategy to realize full exciton radiation is successfully revealed by a judicious molecular design and suitable device engineering. A blue host emitter TP-PPI is designed and synthesized, exhibiting a near 100% photoluminescence quantum yield and a high triplet energy level, enabling high-performance blue fluorescence and sensitization of a yellow phosphorescent dopant. Full exciton radiation in hybrid white OLEDs is demonstrated with a single emitting layer formed by doping a yellow phosphor (PO-01) into TP-PPI. Near 100% exciton utilization and state-of-the-art external quantum efficiency of 27.5% are achieved with the high-efficiency blue-emitting host and an electron-trap engineered device architecture.

Abstract
A practical and readily scalable reaction sequence was developed for the straightforward synthesis of a new family of larger π-conjugated naphthopyrans by a Brønsted acid-catalyzed aromatic annulation of alkoxyallenes with inert naphthols. The cascade pathway involves allylation/cyclization/debenzyloxylation/isomerization/dehydration. The new class of solid state diphenylmethylene substituted naphthopyrans are fluorescent emissive and proved to have aggregation-induced emission (AIE) behavior.
