Abstract
Three pargyline-phosphine copper(I) clusters, [Cu4(CC-C9H12N)3(PPh3)4](PF6) (1) and [Cu6(CC-C9H12N)4(dppy)4](X)2 (dppy = diphenyl-2-pyridylphosphine; X = PF6 for 2 and X = ClO4 for 3), were synthesized. Their structures were fully characterized using various spectroscopic methods and X-ray crystallography, which showed that the stoichiometry and nature of pargyline and phosphine ligands play an important role in tuning the structure and photophysical features of Cu(I) clusters. Interestingly, clusters 1, 2 and 3 exhibited red, orange and yellow phosphorescence with high quantum yields of 88.5%, 22.0% and 40.2%, respectively, at room temperature. Moreover, clusters 1-3 show distinct temperature-dependent emissions. The excellent luminescence performance of 1 and 3 was designed and employed for the construction of monochrome and white light-emitting devices (LEDs).

Abstract
Chiral metal nanoclusters synthesized by non-chiral ligands are usually in the form of racemates. Thus, resolving racemic compounds continues to be a great challenge. Herein, we report a case of the racemic compound hexanuclear silver cluster (Ag6-Rac) protected by the non-chiral sulfhydryl ligand sodium 1H-1,2,3-triazole-5-thiolate (SHTT) and 2,6-bis(diphenylphosphino)pyridine (dpppy). The homochiral clusters in Ag6-Rac are able to spontaneously crystallize and undergo chiral resolution to obtain a racemic conglomerate (Ag6-S/Ag6-R) by solvent-induced crystallization. Interestingly, the Ag6-Rac clusters exhibit strong luminescence in solid and solution, which can respond to trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) and reversible cycling over five times using diethylamine (DEA). This work provides a new research model for resolving racemic clusters and constructing stimulus-responsive clusters.

Abstract
Two different organometallic gold(I) compounds containing naphthalene and phenanthrene as fluorophores and 2-pyridyldiphenylphosphane as the ancillary ligand were synthesized (compounds 1 with naphthalene and 2 with phenanthrene). They were reacted with three different copper(I) salts with different counterions (PF6-, OTf-, and BF4-; OTf = triflate) to obtain six Au(I)/Cu(I) heterometallic clusters (compounds 1a-c for naphthalene derivatives and 2a-c for phenanthrene derivatives). The heterometallic compounds present red pure room-temperature phosphorescence in both solution, the solid state, and air-equilibrated samples, as a difference with the dual emission recorded for the gold(I) precursors 1 and 2. The presence of Au(I)-Cu(I) metallophilic contacts has been identified using single-crystal X-ray diffraction structure resolution of two of the compounds, which play a direct role in the resulting red-shifted emission with respect to the gold(I) homometallic precursors. Polystyrene (PS) and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) polymeric matrices were doped with our luminescent compounds, and the resulting changes in their emissive properties were analyzed and compared with those previously recorded in the solution and the solid state. All complexes were tested to analyze their ability to produce 1O2 and present very good values of ΦΔ up to 50%.

Abstract
Conventional π-conjugated luminophores suffer from problems such as emission quenching, biotoxicity, environmental pollution, etc. The emerging nonconjugated and nonaromatic clusteroluminogens (CLgens) are expected to overcome these stubborn drawbacks, so research of CLgens shows great significance not only for practical application but also for the construction of fundamental photophysical theories. This perspective summarizes the unusual features of CLgens in comparison to traditional chromophores, such as nonconjugated molecular structures, unmatched absorption and excitation, excitation-dependent luminescence, multiple emission peaks, and room-temperature phosphorescence. Different from the theory of through-bond conjugation in π-conjugated luminophores, through-space interactions, including through-space n···n interaction and through-space n···π interaction, are regarded as the emitting sources of nonconjugated CLgens. In addition, the formation of network clusters is proposed as an efficient strategy to improve the performance of CLgens, and their potential applications of anticounterfeiting, photoelectronic devices, and bioimaging are prospected.

Abstract
Heterodentate phosphines containing anionic organophosphorus groups remain virtually unexplored ligands in the coordination chemistry of coinage metals. A hybrid phosphine-phosphine oxide (o-Ph2PC6H4)2P(O)H (HP3O) readily forms the disilver complex [Ag2(P3O)2] (1) upon deprotonation of the (O)P-H fragment. Due to the electron-rich nature, the anionic phosphide oxide unit in 1 takes part in efficient intermolecular hydrogen bonding, which has an unusual and remarkably strong impact on the photoluminescence of 1, changing the emission from red (644 nm) to green-yellow (539 nm) in the solid. The basicity of the R2(O)P- group and its affinity for both inter- and intramolecular donor-acceptor interactions allow converting 1 into hydrohalogenated (2, 3) and boronated (4) derivatives, which reveal a gradual hypsochromic shift of luminescence, reaching the wavelength of 489 nm. Systematic variable-temperature analysis of the excited state properties suggests that thermally activated delayed fluorescence is involved in the emission process. The long-lived excited states for 1-4, the energy of which is largely regulated by means of the phosphide oxide unit, are potentially suitable for triplet energy transfer photocatalysis. With the highest T1 energy among 1-4, complex 4 demonstrates excellent photocatalytic activity in a [2+2] cycloaddition reaction, which has been realized for the first time for silver(I) compounds.

Abstract
Mechanochromic luminescent materials displaying switchable luminescence properties in response to external mechanical force are currently attracting wide interest because of their multiple potential applications. In the growing number of mechanochromic luminescent compounds, mechanochromic complexes based on copper present appealing features with a large variety of mechanochromic properties and economical advantages over other metals. Among Cu-based compounds, molecular copper iodide clusters of cubane geometry with formula [Cu4I4L4] (L = organic ligand) stand out. Indeed, they can exhibit multiple luminescent stimuli-responsive properties, being particularly suitable for the development of multifunctional photoactive systems. This perspective describes the survey of these mechanochromic luminescent cubane copper iodide clusters. Based on our investigations, their mechanochromic luminescence properties are presented along with the study of the underlying mechanism. Establishment of structure-property relationships supported by various characterization techniques and associated with theoretical investigations permits gaining insights into the mechanism at play. Studies of other researcher groups are also described and illustrate the interest shown by these mechanochromic compounds. Mechanically responsive films are reported, demonstrating their potential use in a range of applications of such copper-based stimuli-responsive materials. Current challenges faced by the development of technological applications are finally outlined.

Abstract
We investigated two DNA-stabilized silver nanoclusters (DNA-AgNCs) that show multiple absorption features in the visible region, and emit around 811 nm (DNA811-AgNC) and 841 nm (DNA841-AgNC). Both DNA-AgNCs have large Stokes shifts and can be efficiently excited with red light. A comparison with the commercially available Atto740 yielded fluorescence quantum yields in the same order of magnitude, but a higher photon output above 800 nm since both DNA-AgNCs are more red-shifted. The study of both DNA-AgNCs also revealed previously unobserved photophysical behavior for this class of emitters. The fluorescence quantum yield and decay time of DNA841-AgNC can be increased upon consecutive heating/cooling cycles. DNA811-AgNC has an additional absorption band around 470 nm, which is parallel in orientation to the lowest energy transition at 640 nm. Furthermore, we observed for the first time a DNA-AgNC population (as part of the DNA811-AgNC sample) with green and near-infrared emissive states with nanosecond and microsecond decay times, respectively. A similar dual emissive DNA-AgNC stabilized by a different 10-base DNA strand is also reported in the manuscript. These two examples highlight the need to investigate the presence of red-shifted microsecond emission for this class of emitters.

Abstract
Atomically precise silver clusters with tunable photoluminescence (PL) properties have attracted extensive attention due to their great value for basic science and future applications. Here, we report that the addition of a sulfido template into a triangular thiolated silver cluster [Ag11(iPrS)9(dppb)3]·2CF3SO3·CH3OH (Ag11, dppb = 1,4-bis(diphenylphosphino)butane), which is emissive at 660 nm under ambient conditions, produced another silver cluster [S@Ag15(sBuS)12(dppb)3]·CF3SO3·H2O (Ag15) that displays 716 nm emission with a 56 nm redshift aided by the ligand sec-butyl mercaptan. The sulfido template, which affects the geometrical and electronic structures, results in a redshift of Ag11 room-temperature PL as a result of opening up the template-to-metal charge transfer (TMCT) and disturbing the electronic transition between the metal core and ligands at the periphery.

Abstract
Copper subgroup metal ions in the +1 oxidation state are classical candidates for aggregation via non-covalent metal-metal interactions, which are supported by a number of bridging ligands. The bridging phosphines, soft donors with a relatively labile coordination to coinage metals, serve as convenient and essential components of the ligand environment that allow for efficient self-assembly of discrete polynuclear aggregates. Simultaneously, accessible and rich modification of the organic spacer of such P-donors has been used to generate many fascinating structures with attractive photoluminescent behavior. In this work we consider the development of di- and polynuclear complexes of M(i) (M = Cu, Ag, Au) and their photophysical properties, focusing on the effect of phosphine bridging ligands, their flexibility and denticity.
