Abstract
Here, a new Zn2+ metal organic framework, {[Me2NH2][Zn2(L)(DTZ)]·2DMF·3H2O}n (Zn-MOF), has been synthesized with low-symmetric carboxylic acid ligand 2,6 bis(2',5'-dicarboxyphenyl)pyridine (H4L) as the main ligand and 3,5-diamino-1,2,4-riazole (DTZ) containing an electron-rich N atom as an auxiliary ligand. Because of its high structural stability and adsorption properties, it can be used to efficiently separate CO2/CH4 and C2H2/CH4. In addition, Tb@Zn-MOF was obtained by doping with Tb3+ to partially replace Zn2+. A study of its luminescence sensing performance demonstrated that Tb@Zn-MOF showed intense luminescence properties and can be used for the directional detection of Fe3+ in aqueous solution. Furthermore, PXRD analysis, UV-vis spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were also used to study possible luminescence sensing mechanisms. The recognition mechanism for Fe3+ ions is believed to be caused by electron transfer.

Abstract
To reasonably design and synthesize metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with high stability and excellent adsorption/separation performance, the pore configuration and functional sites are very important. Here, we report two structurally similar cluster-based MOFs using a pyridine-modified low-symmetry ligand [H4L = 2,6-bis(2',5'-dicarboxyphenyl)pyridine], [(NH2Me2)2][Co5(L)2(OCH3)2(μ3-OH)2·2DMF]·2DMF·2H2O (1) and [Co5(L)2(μ3-OH)2(H2O)2]·2H2O·4DMF (2). The structures of 1 and 2 are built from Co5 clusters, which have one-dimensional open channels, but their microporous environments are different due to the different ways in which ligands bind to the metals. Both MOFs have extremely high chemical stabilities over a wide pH range (2-12). The two MOFs have similar adsorption capacities of C2H2 (144.0 cm3 g-1 for 1 and 141.3 cm3 g-1 for 2), but 1 has a higher C2H2/CO2 selectivity of 3.5 under ambient conditions. The difference in gas adsorption and separation between the two MOFs has been compared by a breakthrough experiment and theoretical calculation, and the influence of the microporous environment on the gas adsorption and separation performance of MOFs has been further studied.

Abstract
The urothermal reactions of Co(II)/Zn(II) salts with the diverse carboxylic acid and 1,3,5,-tris(1-imidazolyl)benzene(tib) ligands afforded three novel MOFs, namely, [Co3(tib)2(abdc)2(ox)]2·6H2O (1), [Co3O(tib)(abdc)2(DMI)]·2DMI·2H2O (2) and [Zn3I2(tib)2(napdc)2]·2DMI·2H2O (3), (H2abdc = 5-amino-1,3-benzenedicarboxylate, H2napdc = 1,4-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid and DMI = 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone). In compounds 1 and 2, the Co(II) atoms are connected by polycarboxylate ligands to form two-dimensional (2D) layers that are pillared by tib ligands leading to the formation of 3D porous frameworks. In compound 3, the Zn(II) atoms are linked by tib ligands to form one-dimensional ribbon-like chains which are further connected by polycarboxylate ligands, making a 3D framework possible. Compound 1 can selectively adsorb unsaturated hydrocarbon molecules (C2H2 and C2H4) and saturated hydrocarbon molecules (C2H6 and CH4). Specifically, compound 1 has high IAST selectivity for acetylene and methane (0.50 : 0.50, v/v) at 273 K and 1 bar. DFT calculations reveal that the π-conjugated hexagonal carbon ring may be the primary adsorption site because there are π-π interactions between the unsaturated hydrocarbon molecules (C2H2 and C2H4) and the π-conjugated hexagonal carbon ring in the framework of compound 1.

Abstract
A highly water and thermally stable metal-organic framework (MOF) Zn2(Pydc)(Ata)2 (1, H2Pydc = 3,5-pyridinedicarboxylic acid; HAta = 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole) was synthesized on a large scale using inexpensive commercially available ligands for efficient separation of C2H2 from CH4 and CO2. Compound 1 could take up 47.2 mL/g of C2H2 under ambient conditions but only 33.0 mL/g of CO2 and 19.1 mL/g of CH4. The calculated ideal absorbed solution theory (IAST) selectivities for equimolar C2H2/CO2 and C2H2/CH4 were 5.1 and 21.5, respectively, comparable to those many popular MOFs. The Qst values for C2H2, CO2, and CH4 at a near-zero loading in 1 were 43.1, 32.1, and 22.5 kJ mol−1, respectively. The practical separation performance for C2H2/CO2 mixtures was further confirmed by column breakthrough experiments.

Abstract
Through use of an irregular pentacarboxylate ligand, 2,2'-(pyridine-2,6-diyl)diterephthalic acid (H4L), two Cu(II)-based metal-organic frameworks, {[(Me2NH2)0.5][Cu0.75(L)0.5(DMA)0.375]·H2O}n (1) and {[Cu4(L)2(H2O)4]·4DMF·8H2O}n (2), have been synthesized. A structural analysis demonstrates that 1 is a 2D layer and 2 shows a 3D framework, which exhibit hopeful possibilities for the selective separations of C2H2/CH4 and CO2/CH4. To enhance the adsorption properties, 5-amino-1H-tetrazole (HAT) has been introduced in the synthesis system, and a new framework, {[Cu4(L)2(ATZ)2(H2O)]·5DMF·5H2O}n (3), has been obtained. 3 is a 3D framework. Especially, 3 is constructed from multiple SBUs and displays an unusual (3,4,6)-connected topology. Furthermore, especially 3 performs better than 1 and 2 in terms of uptake capacity as well as adsorption selectivity, which might be ascribed to the more proper pore space of 3.

Abstract
Design and construction of stable adsorbents for efficient separation and purification of natural gas and C2H2 is fundamentally important in the chemical industry, and hierarchical cage-based MOFs are attractive in this regard due to their intrinsic structural advantages. In this work, a cage-based MOF (termed ZJNU-15) assembled from a tetranuclear Cu4O-based SBU and an amine-functionalized N,O-mixed donor ligand was solvothermally constructed. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies showed that the resulting MOF incorporates two different types of polyhedral cages in the entire network and bears incompatible open copper sites and uncoordinated amine groups immobilized in the pore surface. In view of its intriguing structural features, its gas adsorption properties with respect to C2 hydrocarbons, CO2, and CH4 were systematically investigated, revealing that it could achieve efficient removal of C2 hydrocarbons and CO2 from CH4 as well as separation of a binary C2H2-CO2 mixed gas, which is associated with natural gas and C2H2 separation and purification. At 298 K and 1 atm, for equimolar binary components, the IAST-predicted adsorption selectivities for C2 hydrocarbons over CH4 are above 17.7, while the CO2/CH4 and C2H2/CO2 adsorption selectivities are 5.0 and 4.4, respectively. Notably, stability studies showed that the framework maintained its structural integrity after being immersed in HCl/NaOH aqueous solutions within a pH range of 4-11 at ambient temperature for 24 h, indicating its good hydrolytic stability under harsh chemical conditions, which might lay a solid foundation for its practical applications.
