Abstract
In this manuscript we report the synthesis and characterization of two new polynuclear zinc(ii) complexes, [Zn2L1(μ-OAc)3]n·H2O (1) and [Zn2L2(μ-OAc)3]n (2) using two tridentate ligands, HL1 {4-chloro-2-(((2-(methylamino)ethyl)amino)methyl)phenol} and HL2 {2,4-dibromo-6-(((3-(methylamino)propyl)amino)methyl)phenol}. The structures were confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Both complexes form 1D chains. The energy of H-bonding interaction in the solid state structures of the complexes has been estimated by DFT calculation and the crucial role of hydrogen bonding in shaping their structures has been highlighted.

Abstract
A flexible polydentate Salamo-Salen-Salamo hybrid ligand H4L was designed and synthesized, which has rich pockets (salamo and salen pockets) so that it may have fascinating coordination patterns with transition metal(II) ions. Four multinuclear transition metal(II) complexes, novel butterfly-shaped homotetranuclear [Ni4(L)(μ1-OAc)2(μ1,3-OAc)2(H2O)0.5(CH3CH2OH)3.5]·4CH3CH2OH (1), helical homotrinuclear [Zn3(L)(μ1-OAc)2]·2CH3CH2OH (2), double-helical homotrinuclear [Cu2(H2L)2]·2CH3CN (3), and mononuclear [Ni(H2L)]·1.5CH3COCH3 (4), have been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The effects of different anions [OAc- and (O2C5H7)2-] on the complexation behavior of H4L with transition metal(II) ions were studied by UV-vis spectrophotometry. The fluorescent properties of the four complexes were studied with zebrafish, which are expected to be a potential light-emitting material. Ultimately, interaction region indicator (IRI) valuations, Hirshfeld surface analyses, density functional theory (DFT & TD-DFT), electrostatic potential analyses (ESP), and simulations were carried out to further demonstrate the weak interactions and electronic properties of the free ligand and its four complexes.

Abstract
A hydrophobic Schiff base catecholate vanadium complex was recently discovered to have anticancer properties superior to cisplatin and suited for intratumoral administration. This [VO(HSHED)(DTB)] complex, where HSHED is N-(salicylideneaminato)-N'-(2-hydroxyethyl)-1,2-ethanediamine and the non-innocent catecholato ligand is di-t-butylcatecholato (DTB), has higher stability compared to simpler catecholato complexes. Three new chloro-substituted Schiff base complexes of vanadium(V) with substituted catecholates as co-ligands were synthesized for comparison with their non-chlorinated Schiff base vanadium complexes, and their properties were characterized. Up to four geometric isomers for each complex were identified in organic solvents using 51V and 1H NMR spectroscopies. Spectroscopy was used to characterize the structure of the major isomer in solution and to demonstrate that the observed isomers are exchanged in solution. All three chloro-substituted Schiff base vanadium(V) complexes with substituted catecholates were also characterized by UV-vis spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and electrochemistry. Upon testing in human glioblastoma multiforme (T98g) cells as an in vitro model of brain gliomas, the most sterically hindered, hydrophobic, and stable compound [t1/2 (298 K) = 15 min in cell medium] was better than the two other complexes (IC50 = 4.1 ± 0.5 μM DTB, 34 ± 7 μM 3-MeCat, and 19 ± 2 μM Cat). Furthermore, upon aging, the complexes formed less toxic decomposition products (IC50 = 9 ± 1 μM DTB, 18 ± 3 μM 3-MeCat, and 8.1 ± 0.6 μM Cat). The vanadium complexes with the chloro-substituted Schiff base were more hydrophobic, more hydrolytically stable, more easily reduced compared to their corresponding parent counterparts, and the most sterically hindered complex of this series is only the second non-innocent vanadium Schiff base complex with a potent in vitro anticancer activity that is an order of magnitude more potent than cisplatin under the same conditions.

Abstract
One centrosymmetric bis(μ-oxido)-bridged vanadium(V) dimer with molecular formula [(VVO2)2(pedf)2] (1) has been synthesized from the reaction of VOSO4·5H2O with a Schiff base ligand (abbreviated with pedf-) obtained from 2-acetylpyridine and 2-furoic hydrazide in methanol. Complex 1 was characterized by elemental analysis, UV-visible (UV-Vis), Fourier-transform infrared spectra (FT-IR), cyclic voltammetry (CV), electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy (EPR) and electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) techniques along with single crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD). The FT-IR spectral data of 1 indicated the involvement of oxygen and azomethine nitrogen in coordination to the central metal ion. The crystallographic studies revealed a dinuclear oxovanadium(V) complex with the Schiff base coordinated via the ONN donor set with formation of two five-membered chelate rings resulting in a distorted octahedral geometry. The interaction of 1 with calf thymus DNA (CT-DNA) was investigated by spectroscopic measurements and results suggested that the complex binds to CT-DNA via moderate intercalative mode with a binding constant (Kb) around 103 M-1. In addition, the in vitro protein binding behavior was studied by fluorescence spectrophotometric method using both bovine serum albumin (BSA) and human serum albumin (HSA) and a static quenching mechanism was observed for the interaction of the complex with both albumins that occurs with a Kb in the range (5-6) × 103 M-1. In vitro cytotoxicity of complex 1 on lung cancer cells (A549) and human skin carcinoma cell line (A431) demonstrated that the complex had a broad-spectrum of anti-proliferative activity with IC50 value of 64.2 μM and 56.2 μM.

Abstract
In this work, the structures, quantum chemical descriptors, morphologic characterization of the azo-methoxy-calix[4]arene were investigated. The analyses and interpretation of the theoretical and the experimental IR spectroscopy results for the corresponding compounds was performed. The complexation of the azo-methoxy-calix[4]arene with Zn2+,Hg2+ , Cu2+ , Co2+, Ni2+ , Pb2+ and Cd2+metal cations has been calculated by the dispersion corrected density functional theory (DFT-D3). The values of the interaction energies show that the specific molecule is more selective to the Cu2+ cation. The study of the reactivity parameters confirms that the azo-methoxy-calix[4]arene molecule is more reactive and sensitive to the Cu2+ cation than that Co2+ and Cd2+. In addition, the investigation of the electrophilic and nucleophilic sites has been studied by the molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) analysis. The Hirshfeld surface (HS) analysis of the azo-methoxy-calix[4]arene-Cu2+ interaction have been used to understand the Cu⋯hydrogen-bond donors formed between the cation and the specific compound. The Quantum Theory of Atoms in Molecules (QTAIM) via Non covalent Interaction (NCI) analysis was carried out to demonstrate the nature, the type and the strength of the interaction formed between the Cu2+ cation and the two symmetrical ligands and the cavity. Finally, the chemical sensor properties based on the Si/SiO2/Si3N4/Azo-methoxy-calix[4]arene for detection of Cu2+ cation were studied. Sensing performances are determined with a linear range from 10-5.2 to 10-2.2 M. The Si/SiO2/Si3N4/azo-methoxy-calix[4]arene structure is a promoter to have a good performance sensor.

Abstract
We report a versatile, highly enantioselective intramolecular hydrocarbonation reaction that provides a direct access to heteropolycyclic systems bearing chiral quaternary carbon stereocenters. The method, which relies on an iridium(I)/bisphosphine chiral catalyst, is particularly efficient for the synthesis of five-, six- and seven-membered fused indole and pyrrole products, bearing one and two stereocenters, with enantiomeric excesses of up to >99 %. DFT computational studies allowed to obtain a detailed mechanistic profile and identify a cluster of weak non-covalent interactions as key factors to control the enantioselectivity.

Abstract
The application of protein-protein interaction (PPI) has been widely used in various industries, such as food, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical. A deeper understanding of PPI is needed, and the molecular forces governing proteins and their interaction must be explained. The design of new structures with improved functional properties, e.g., solubility, emulsion, and gelation, has been fueled by the development of structural and colloidal building blocks. In this review, the molecular forces of protein structures are discussed, followed by the relationship between molecular force and structure, ways of a bind of proteins together in solution or at the interface, and functional properties. A more detailed look is thus taken at the relationship between the various influencing factors on molecular forces involved in PPI. These factors include protein properties, such as types, concentration, and mixing ratio, and solvent conditions, such as ionic strength and pH. This review also summarizes methods tha1t are capable of identifying molecular forces in protein and PPI, as well as characterizing protein structure.
