Abstract
This study addressed the limited antibacterial durability of textile materials, which has suppressed their applications in preventing infectious disease transmission. A class of highly durable antibacterial textiles was developed by incorporating protonated polyaniline (PANI) textile with poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) as the functional binder via cross-linking polymerization. The resulting PAA-PANI textile exhibits exceptional electrical conductivity, reaching 8.33 ± 0.04 × 10-3 S/cm when cross-linked with 30% PAA. Remarkably, this textile maintains its electrical stability at 10-3 S/cm even after 50 washing cycles, demonstrating unparalleled durability. Furthermore, the PANI-PAA textile showcases remarkable antibacterial efficacy, with 95.48% efficiency against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and 92.35% efficiency against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, even after 50 washing cycles. Comparatively, the PAA-PANI textile outperforms its PANI counterpart by achieving an astounding 80% scavenging activity rate, whereas the latter only displayed a rate of 3.22%. This result suggests a solid integration of PAA-PANI into the textile, leading to sustainable antioxidant release. The successful cross-linking of PAA-PANI in textiles holds significant implications for various industries, offering a foundation for the development of wearable textiles with unprecedented antibacterial durability and electrical stability. This breakthrough opens new avenues for combating infectious diseases and enhancing the performance of wearable technologies.

Abstract
Polyaniline (PANI) has long been explored as a promising organic cathode for Li-ion batteries. However, its poor electrochemical utilization and cycling instability cast doubt on its potential for practical applications. In this work, we revisit the electrochemical performance of PANI in nonaqueous electrolytes, and reveal an unprecedented reversible capacity of 197.2 mAh g-1 (244.8 F g-1) when cycled in a wide potential range of 1.5 to 4.4 V vs. Li+/Li. This ultra-high capacity derives from 70% -NH- transformed to =NH+- during deep charging/discharging process. This material also demonstrates a high average coulombic efficiency of 98%, an excellent rate performance with 73.5 mAh g-1 at 1800 mA g-1, and retains 76% of initial value after 100 cycles, which are among the best reported values for PANI electrodes in battery applications.

Abstract
Polyaniline (PANI) wasin-situpolymerized on nanofibrous polycaprolactone mats as cell-free antioxidant cardiac patches (CPs), providing electrical conductivity and antioxidant properties. The fabricated CPs took advantage of intrinsic and additive antioxidant properties in the presence of PANI backbone and ascorbic acid as a biocompatible dopant of PANI. The antioxidant nature of CPs may reduce the serious repercussions of oxidative stress, produced during the ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) process following myocardial infarction. The polymerization parameters were considered as aniline (60 mM, 90 mM, and 120 mM), ascorbic acid concentrations ([aniline]:[ascorbic acid] = 3:0, 3:0.5, 3:1, 3:3), and polymerization time (1 h and 3 h). Mainly, the more aniline concentrations and polymerization time, the less sheet resistance was obtained. 1,1 diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay confirmed the dual antioxidant properties of prepared samples. The advantage of the employedin-situpolymerization was confirmed by the de-doping/re-doping process. Non-desirable groups were excluded based on their electrical conductivity, antioxidant properties, and biocompatibility. The remained groups protected H9c2 cells against oxidative stress and hypoxia conditions. Selected CPs reduced the intracellular reactive oxygen species content and mRNA level of caspase-3 while the Bcl-2 mRNA level was improved. Also, the selected cardiac patch could attenuate the hypertrophic impact of hydrogen peroxide on H9c2 cells. Thein vivoresults of the skin flap model confirmed the CP potency to attenuate the harmful impact of I/R.

Abstract
Owing to their special structure and excellent physical and chemical properties, conducting polymers have attracted increasing attention in materials science. In recent years, tremendous efforts have been devoted to improving the comprehensive performance of conducting polymers by using the technique of "doping." Spherical polyelectrolyte brushes (SPBs) bearing polyelectrolyte chains grafted densely to the surface of core particles have the potential to be novel dopant of conducting polymers not only because of their spherical structure, high grafting density and high charge density, but also due to the possibility of their being applied in printed electronics. This review first presents a summary of the general dopants of conducting polymers. Meanwhile, conducting polymers doped with spherical polyelectrolyte brushes (SPBs) is highlighted, including the preparation, characterization, performance and doping mechanism. It is demonstrated that comprehensive performance of conducting polymers has improved with the addition of SPBs, which act as template and dopant in the synthesis of composites. Furthermore, the applications and future developments of conductive composites are also briefly reviewed and proposed, which would draw more attention to this field.

Abstract
A new polyaniline derivative was prepared to study the formation of quinoid-diimine units in its polymer. The monomer and polymer were experimentally and theoretically characterized. Both polymers have one or two electron-withdrawing groups as side substituents. The polymers' quinoid-diimine unit composition is affected by the electron-withdrawing side groups of aniline. The presence of the quinoid-diimine group diminished for the two electron-withdrawing groups of aniline. The polymer conductivity is different than with respect to polyemeraldine, associated with the quinoid-diimine units' composition. The quinoid-diimine composition is strongly increased in the polymer containing one electron-withdrawing group. Moreover, the polymer presented good solubility in organic solvents and moderate thermal stability.

Abstract
We report two new series of compounds that show the ferroelectric nematic, NF, phase in which the terminal chain length is varied. The longer the terminal chain, the weaker the dipole-dipole interactions of the molecules are along the director and thus the lower the temperature at which the axially polar NF phase is formed. For homologues of intermediate chain lengths, between the non-polar and ferroelectric nematic phases, a wide temperature range nematic phase emerges with antiferroelectric character. The size of the antiparallel ferroelectric domains critically increases upon transition to the NF phase. In dielectric studies, both collective ("ferroelectric") and non-collective fluctuations are present, and the "ferroelectric" mode softens weakly at the N-NX phase transition because the polar order in this phase is weak. The transition to the NF phase is characterized by a much stronger lowering of the mode relaxation frequency and an increase in its strength, and a typical critical behavior is observed.

Abstract
Sequential infiltration synthesis (SIS) is an emerging vapor-phase synthetic route for the preparation of organic-inorganic composites. Previously, we investigated the potential of polyaniline (PANI)-InOx composite thin films prepared using SIS for application in electrochemical energy storage. In this study, we investigated the effects of the number of InOx SIS cycles on the chemical and electrochemical properties of PANI-InOx thin films via combined characterization using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and cyclic voltammetry. The area-specific capacitance values of PANI-InOx samples prepared with 10, 20, 50, and 100 SIS cycles were 1.1, 0.8, 1.4, and 0.96 mF/cm², respectively. Our result shows that the formation of an enlarged PANI-InOx mixed region directly exposed to the electrolyte is key to enhancing the pseudocapacitive properties of the composite films.

Abstract
The mechanochemical synthesis of polyanilines (PANIs), made by oxidative polymerization of anilines, is reviewed. First, previous knowledge of the polymerization reaction in solution is discussed to understand the effect of different parameters: oxidant/monomer ratio, added acid, oxidant, temperature and water content on the properties of the conducting polymers (molecular weight, degradation, doping/oxidation level, conductivity, and nanostructure). The work on mechanochemical polymerization (MCP) of anilines is analyzed in view of previous data in solution, and published data are critically reconsidered to clarify the interpretation of experimental results. A key factor is the production of acids during polymerization, which is often overlooked. The production of gaseous HCl during MCP of aniline hydrochloride is experimentally observed. Since some experiments involves the addition of small amounts of water, the kinetics and heat balance of the reaction with concentrated solutions were simulated. A simple experiment shows fast (<2 min) heating of the reaction mixture to the boiling point of water and temperature increments are observed during MCP in a mortar. The form and sizes of PANI nanostructures made by MCP or solution are compared. The extensive work on the production of nanocomposites by MCP of anilines together with different nanomaterials (porous clays, graphene, carbon nanotubes, metal, and oxide nanoparticles) is also described.

Abstract
Inherently conductive polymers (CPs) can generally be switched between two or more stable oxidation states, giving rise to changes in properties including conductivity, color, and volume. The ability to prepare CP nanofibers could lead to applications including water purification, sensors, separations, nerve regeneration, wound healing, wearable electronic devices, and flexible energy storage. Electrospinning is a relatively inexpensive, simple process that is used to produce polymer nanofibers from solution. The nanofibers have many desirable qualities including high surface area per unit mass, high porosity, and low weight. Unfortunately, the low molecular weight and rigid rod nature of most CPs cannot yield enough chain entanglement for electrospinning, instead yielding polymer nanoparticles via an electrospraying process. Common workarounds include co-extruding with an insulating carrier polymer, coaxial electrospinning, and coating insulating electrospun polymer nanofibers with CPs. This review explores the benefits and drawbacks of these methods, as well as the use of these materials in sensing, biomedical, electronic, separation, purification, and energy conversion and storage applications.

Abstract
A series of phosphonium-based ionic liquids (ILs) based on benzenesulfonate derivatives (tetrabutylphosphonium benzenesulfonate ([TBP][BS]), tetrabutylphosphonium 4-methylbenzenesulfonate ([TBP][MBS]), tetrabutylphosphonium 2,4-dimethylbenzenesulfonate ([TBP][DMBS]), and tetrabutylphosphonium 2,4,6-trimethylbenzenesulfonate ([TBP][TMBS])) were synthesized via anion exchange with tetrabutylphosphonium bromide ([TBP][Br]). Then, we characterized the ILs and investigated their suitability as draw solutes for forward osmosis (FO), focusing on their thermoresponsive properties, conductivities, and osmotic pressures. We found that aqueous [TBP][BS] was not thermoresponsive, but 20 wt% aqueous [TBP][MBS], [TBP][DMBS], and [TBP][TMBS] had lower critical solution temperatures (LCSTs) of approximately 41, 25, and 21 °C, respectively, enabling their easy recovery using waste heat. Based on these findings, 20 wt% aqueous [TBP][DMBS] was tested for its FO performance, and the water and reverse solute fluxes were found to be approximately 9.29 LMH and 1.37 gMH, respectively, in the active layer facing the draw solution (AL-DS) mode and 4.64 LMH and 0.37 gMH, respectively, in the active layer facing the feed solution (AL-FS) mode. Thus, these tetrabutylphosphonium benzenesulfonate-based LCST-type ILs are suitable for drawing solutes for FO process.

Abstract
The quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) measurement technique is utilized in a broad variety of scientific fields and applications, where surface and interfacial processes are relevant. However, the costs of purchasing QCMs is typically high, which has limited its employment in education as well as by scientists in developing countries. In this article, we present an open-source QCM, built on the OpenQCM project, and using an impedance-based measurement technique (QCM-I), which can be built for <200 euro. Our QCM allows for simultaneous monitoring of the frequency change and dissipation, such that both soft and rigid materials can be characterized. In addition, our QCM measurements can be combined with simultaneous electrochemical measurement techniques (EQCM-I). We demonstrate the validity of our system by characterizing the electrodeposition of a rigid metallic film (Cu) and by the electropolymerization of aniline. Finally, we discuss potential improvements to our system.

Abstract
Herein, we explore the supercapacitor and photocatalytic applications of poly(1-naphthylamine) (PNA) nanoparticles. The PNA nanoparticles were synthesized by using polymerization of 1-naphthylamine and characterized with several techniques in order to understand the morphological, structural, optical and compositional properties. The structural and morphological properties confirmed the formation of crystalline nanoparticles of PNA. The Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectrum revealed the successful polymerization of 1-naphthylamine monomer to PNA. The absorption peaks that appeared at 236 and 309 nm in the UV−Vis spectrum for PNA nanoparticles represented the π−π* transition. The supercapacitor properties of the prepared PNA nanoparticles were evaluated with cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge−discharge (GCD) methods at different scan rates and current densities, respectively. The effective series resistance was calculated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), resulting in a minimum resistance value of 1.5 Ω. The highest specific capacitance value of PNA was found to be 255 Fg−1. This electrode also exhibited excellent stability with >93% capacitance retention for 1000 cycles, as measured at 1A g−1. Further, the prepared PNA nanoparticles were used as an effective photocatalyst for the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye, which exhibited ~61% degradation under UV light irradiation. The observed results revealed that PNA nanoparticles are not only a potential electrode material for supercapacitor applications but also an efficient photocatalyst for the photocatalytic degradation of hazardous and toxic organic dyes.

Abstract
Rapid and effective differentiation and quantification of a small molecule drug, such as fentanyl, in bodily fluids are major challenges for diagnosis and personal medication. However, the current toxicology methods used to measure drug concentration and metabolites require laboratory-based testing, which is not an efficient or cost-effective way to treat patients in a timely manner. Here, we show an assay for monitoring fentanyl levels by combining the intermolecular interaction-enabled small molecule recognition (iMSR) with differential impedance analysis of conjugated polymers. The differential interactions with the designed anchor interface were transduced through the perturbance of the electric status of the flexible conducting polymer. This assay showed excellent fentanyl selectivity against common interferences, as well as in variable body fluids through either testing strips or skin patches. Directly using the patient blood, the sensor provided 1%-5% of the average deviation compared to the "gold" standard method LC-MS results in the medically relevant fentanyl range of 20-90 nM. The superior sensing properties, in conjunction with mechanical flexibility and compatibility, enabled point-of-care detection and provided a promising avenue for applications beyond the scope of biomarker detection.

Abstract
Self-doped- and nitro-polyanilines have become a widely used strategy to optimize the electronic and vibratory spectra of polymeric building blocks in various applications. We report the synthesis of poly (5-nitro-2-orthanilic acid) by an aniline-initiated oxidative polymerization reaction. The polymer is characterized by spectroscopic techniques, elemental shapes, cyclic voltammetry, electrical conductivity, and microscopic and thermal measurements. The hydrophilic and hydrophobic nature of the supports provided the formation of amphiphilicity as judged by SEM. Thermogravimetric measurements reveal thermal stability up to 500 °C and glass temperature (Tg) observed at 240 °C. Electrical conductivity decreases as the temperature rises at the different frequencies used, reflecting the semiconducting nature in the extrinsic range, which is characterized by high carriers and low mobility. The presence of these electron residues causes a decrease in efficiency and increases the thermal conductivity. Dielectric measurements have shown that permittivity decreases gradually at lower levels, mainly due to the transport of charging carriers, resulting in higher performance. The testing of the copolymer as a new scale blocker has resulted in moderate to fairly high performance. This effect is attributed to the change in polymer geometry using intramolecular H-bonding group -SO3H and a chain polymer in an aqueous medium.

Abstract
AbstractThe introduction of a -NO2 substituent in o-aminophenol would create an open-unit polymer suitable for different applications. We report the synthesis of poly(5-nitro-2-aminophenol) by aniline-catalyzed oxidative polymerization. The polymer structure was intensively characterized by spectroscopic techniques, elemental analysis, cyclic voltammetry, electrical conductivity and microscopic measurements such as SEM, TEM, TGA and DSC. The hydrophilic and hydrophobic nature of the substituents provided the formation of amphiphilicity, as judged by SEM. Thermal measurements reveal high stability up to 500 °C. Electrical conductivity decreases with increasing temperature at various frequencies. This behavior reflects the semiconducting nature in the extrinsic range, which is characterized by high carriers and low mobility. Dielectric measurements have shown that permittivity decreases gradually at lower levels, mainly due to the transport of charging carriers. Investigating the copolymer as a new scale blocker has resulted in moderate to high performance attributed to the change in polymer geometry because of the presence of different tautomers having equivalent ortho functionalities and could equally coordinate with free calcium ions and thus reduce the nucleation rate and block crystal growth. Thus, the abovementioned features indicate a new potential candidate for application as a scaling inhibitor of CaSO4 and CaCO3 precipitation, a common problem in industry.

Abstract
Microbial lipase is looking for better attention with the fast growth of enzyme proficiency and other benefits like easy, cost-effective, and reliable manufacturing. Immobilized enzymes can be used repetitively and are incapable to catalyze the reactions in the system continuously. Hydrophobic supports are utilized to immobilize enzymes when the ionic strength is low. This approach allows for the immobilization, purification, stability, and hyperactivation of lipases in a single step. The diffusion of the substrate is more advantageous on hydrophobic supports than on hydrophilic supports in the carrier. These approaches are critical to the immobilization performance of the enzyme. For enzyme immobilization, synthesis provides a higher pH value as well as greater heat stability. Using a mixture of immobilization methods, the binding force between enzymes and the support rises, reducing enzyme leakage. Lipase adsorption produces interfacial activation when it is immobilized on hydrophobic support. As a result, in the immobilization process, this procedure is primarily used for a variety of industrial applications. Microbial sources, immobilization techniques, and industrial applications in the fields of food, flavor, detergent, paper and pulp, pharmaceuticals, biodiesel, derivatives of esters and amino groups, agrochemicals, biosensor applications, cosmetics, perfumery, and bioremediation are all discussed in this review.

Abstract
Electrically conductive materials that are fabricated based on natural polymers have seen significant interest in numerous applications, especially when advanced properties such as self-healing are introduced. In this article review, the hydrogels that are based on natural polymers containing electrically conductive medium were covered, while both irreversible and reversible cross-links are presented. Among the conductive media, a special focus was put on conductive polymers, such as polyaniline, polypyrrole, polyacetylene, and polythiophenes, which can be potentially synthesized from renewable resources. Preparation methods of the conductive irreversible hydrogels that are based on these conductive polymers were reported observing their electrical conductivity values by Siemens per centimeter (S/cm). Additionally, the self-healing systems that were already applied or applicable in electrically conductive hydrogels that are based on natural polymers were presented and classified based on non-covalent or covalent cross-links. The real-time healing, mechanical stability, and electrically conductive values were highlighted.

Abstract
Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) is a lightweight insulating polymer that possesses good mechanical stability. On the other hand, polyaniline (PANi) is one of the most favorable conducting materials to be used, as it is easily synthesized, cost-effective, and has good conductivity. However, most organic solvents have restricted potential applications due to poor mechanical properties and dispersibility. Compared to PANi, PMMA has more outstanding physical and chemical properties, such as good dimensional stability and better molecular interactions between the monomers. To date, many research studies have focused on incorporating PANi into PMMA. In this review, the properties and suitability of PANi as a conducting material are briefly reviewed. The major parts of this paper reviewed different approaches to incorporating PANi into PMMA, as well as evaluating the modifications to improve its conductivity. Finally, the polymerization condition to prepare PMMA/PANi copolymer to improve its conductivity is also discussed.

Abstract
This work is focused on modifying aniline monomers with various characteristics that allows one to study the effect of the substituent on the respective polymer. A series of new polyaniline (PANI) derivatives based on an ortho-substituted aniline derivative, 2-(1-methylbut-2-en-1-yl)aniline, were synthesized and characterized. The structures and composition of the polymers that we synthesized were confirmed by elemental analysis, proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) spectroscopy, carbon nuclear magnetic resonance (13C NMR) spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV). Characterization by FT-IR and UV-visible spectroscopy techniques indicated that the polymers exist in protonated emeraldine forms. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) results revealed that the surface morphology of the resulting polymers changed from a heterogeneous hierarchical to spherical structure upon changing the substituent in the aniline monomers. The polymers are soluble in common organic solvents, so they can be used to make films. The electrical properties of the polymers were studied and their high sensitivity to moisture and ammonia was demonstrated. The results of the studies showed the prospects of using thin polymer films in the design of chemical sensors. The impact of the substituent on the polymer characteristics is rationalized in terms of steric and electronic effects.

Abstract
Magnetic and semiconducting Fe3O4/poly(o-anisidine) (POA) core/shell composite particles were fabricated by an oxidation process using Fe3O4 synthesized separately. The dispersion stability in a liquid medium and the electrical conductivity of synthesized particles were improved because of the conductive POA polymeric shell. The morphological, microstructural, compositional/elemental, and thermal behaviors of the particles were characterized using SEM with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, TEM, XRD, and thermogravimetric analysis, respectively. A smart electro-magneto-rheological suspension containing Fe3O4/POA particles with two functionalities, magnetism and conductivity, was prepared. Its electrorheological properties were investigated at different electric field strengths using a rotational rheometer. Without an electric field, the sample demonstrated typical Newtonian fluid behavior, as expected. However, while under the electric field, it exhibited a solid-like behavior, and the dynamic (or elastic) yield stress of the ER fluid increased linearly as a function of the electric field strength in a power-law function with an index of 2.0, following the polarization mechanism.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) constructed with mixed ligands have shown great promise in the generation of materials with improved sorption, optical, and electronic properties. With an experimental, spectroscopic, and computational approach, herein, we investigated how the incorporation of different functionalized ligands within the structure of MIL-125-NH2 affects its performance in photocatalytic water reduction. We found that multiligand incorporation within the MOF structure has an impact on the light absorption spectrum and the electronic structure. These combined modifications improve the photocatalytic performance of MIL-125-NH2, thereby increasing the rate of hydrogen evolution reaction. Of the four nanoparticle/MOF photocatalytic systems tested, we showed that the Pt/MIL-125-NH2/(OH)2 system (Pt nanoparticle plus MIL-125-NH2 with amino and dihydroxyl functionalized ligands) outperforms its counterpart Pt/MIL-125-NH2 system, attributed to the enhanced p-π conjugation between the lone pairs of O atoms and their aromatic ligands resulting in a red-shifted absorption spectrum and greater spatial distribution of electron density.
