Abstract
Two heteroatom-templated Dy(III)-confined polyoxotungstates [H2N(CH3)2]7Na7[Dy2(H2O)7(W4O9)(HPSeW15O54)(α-SeW9O33)2]·31H2O (1) and [H2N(CH3)2]14K2Na18{[Dy2(H2O)13W14O40]2[α-SeW9O33]4[HPSeW15O54]2}·44H2O (2) were synthesized by a one-pot aqueous reaction and structurally characterized. The most distinctive structural feature of complexes 1 & 2 is the simultaneous presence of both trivacant Keggin [α-SeW9O33]8- and Dawson [HPSeW15O54]10- building blocks containing P(III)-Se(IV) heteroatoms. The trimeric polyanion of 1 can be represented as a fusion of two trivacant Keggin [α-SeW9O33]8- and Dawson [HPSeW15O54]10- building units encapsulating the [Dy2(H2O)7(W4O9)]12+ cluster. On the other hand, hexameric polyoxoanions of 2 are described as four trivacant Keggin [α-SeW9O33]8- and two Dawson [HPSeW15O54]10-, building units anchoring a [Dy4(H2O)26W28O80]20+ cluster. The magnetic investigation revealed the presence of significant magnetic anisotropy and slow relaxation of magnetization behavior for complex 1 with a phenomenological energy barrier, Ueff = 13.58 K in the absence of an external magnetic field, and Ueff = 24.57 K in the presence of a 500 Oe external dc magnetic field. On the other hand, complex 2 favors the QTM relaxation process in the absence of an external magnetic field and shows field-induced slow relaxation of magnetization with Ueff = 11.11 K at 1500 Oe applied dc field. The in-depth analysis of magnetic relaxation dynamics shows that the relaxation process follows the Orbach as well as Raman relaxation pathways. Further, the ab initio calculation of the studied complexes confirms that the highly axial ground and first excited energy states (containing pure highest mJ states) are responsible for the observed single-molecule magnet (SMM) behavior. Remarkably, this is the first example of a mixed heteroatom-based Dy(III)-substituted polyoxotungstate with both trimeric Keggin [α-SeW9O33]8- and Dawson [HPSeW15O54]10- building units showing SMM behavior.

Abstract
Polyoxometalates (POM), as inorganic polydentate oxygen donors, provide binding opportunities for oxophilic lanthanide metal centers to construct novel Ln-substituted POM materials with exciting structures and attractive properties. Herein, we have reported four arsenotungstate [α-AsW9O33]9- based lanthanide-containing polyoxometalates [CsxK36-x{Ln6(H2O)12(α-AsW9O33)6}]·yH2O (Ln = Er (1), Gd (2), Ho (3), and Tb (4)), which are synthesized in an alkaline medium. Complexes 1-3 are the dimeric structures of [Ln3(H2O)6(α-AsW9O33)3]18- polyanions, whereas complex 4 is a hexamer of the polyanion [Tb (H2O)2(α-AsW9O33)]6- as a building unit. In all the complexes, [α-AsW9O33]9- units are staggered up and down and give rise to the chair conformation, where one [α-AsW9O33]9- unit bridges two Ln(III) centers through four μ2-oxygen and two terminal oxygen atoms, resulting in the hexagonal arrangement of lanthanides. The dynamic magnetic measurement indicates that only complex 1 exhibits slow relaxation of magnetization with an applied dc field (1500 Oe). To gain insight into the slow relaxation of magnetization in complex 1, the ligand-field parameters and the splitting of the ground-state multiplet of the Er(III) ions have been estimated. The ab initio calculation results confirm that the ground state wave function of these molecules (1, 3, and 4) is mainly composed of a mixture of mJ states, and the non-axial crystal field (CF) terms are more predominant than the axial CF term. The solid-state fluorescence spectra of 1-4 reveal that the photoexcitation O → M ligand-to-metal charge-transfer (LMCT) of arsenotungstate fragments is effectively quenched due to the spatial coordination environment around the Ln(III) ion.

Abstract
Oxalate bridged Nd-based arsenotungstate, K14Na6H4[{(As2W19O67(H2O))Nd(H2O)2}2(C2O4)]·64H2O (1), was obtained from the reaction of K14[As2W19O67(H2O)], oxalic acid, and NdCl3·6H2O in mildly acidic aqueous solution. The polyanion exhibits a dimeric structure in which the fully deprotonated oxalate ligands bridge two NdIII cations and the arsenotungstate anions act as blocking ligands. The photoluminescence (PL) spectrum of 1 shows the characteristic emission peak of NdIII in the near-infrared (NIR) region. However, the O → W charge-transfer transitions of arsenotungstate cannot effectively sensitize the emission of NdIII cations as confirmed by the emission spectrum, due to the mismatch of the energy gap between 3T1u → 1A1g (21.57 × 103 cm-1) of arsenotungstate components and 4F3/2 → 4I9/2 (11.43 × 103 cm-1) of NdIII cations. Magnetic studies of 1 demonstrate its field-induced single-molecule magnet (SMM) behavior. Direct current magnetic susceptibility studies imply the weak ferromagnetic couplings present between the two neighboring NdIII cations. In addition, the synergy between the coordination configuration of NdIII cations and the intramolecular magnetic interaction was discussed.

Abstract
Two cases of lanthanide (Ln)-implanted arsenotungstates, K17Na2H5[{(As2W19O67(H2O))Ln(H2O)2}2(C2O4)]·87H2O (Ln = Eu (1), Ln = Tb (2)) and their codoped derivatives EuxTb1-x-POM (x = 0.01 (3), x = 0.04 (4), x = 0.1 (5), x = 0.2 (6)) were prepared and further characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, infrared spectra, and thermogravimetric analyses. An X-ray structural analysis of 1 and 2 indicates that they both present a dimeric oxalate-bridged Ln3+-implanted lanthanide arsenotungstate polyanion structure. Under the O → W LMCT excitation at 265 nm of arsenotungstate polyanions, the emissions of Ln3+ ions in 1 and 2 are sensitized and the lifetimes are prolonged. Codoped compounds 3-6 demonstrate a color-tunable emission from green to red by adjusting the Eu3+/Tb3+ ratio. Emission spectra and time-resolved emission spectroscopic studies were performed for 3 to further authenticate the energy transfer processes from excited arsenotungstates to the Eu3+ and Tb3+ metal ions and also between the Eu3+ and Tb3+ centers. More interestingly, 1 is an effective fluorescent probe for the recognition and detection of Ba2+ ions in aqueous solution. The optical properties of the Ln-implanted arsenotungstate compounds not only expressly reveal distinctive energy transfer processes in those compounds but also broaden the application of POM-based materials in the fluorescence sensing field.

Abstract
Two tetra-nuclear YbIII-incorporated selenotungstate clusters, Keggin (C2H8N)6Na14[Yb4Se6W44O160(H2O)12]·40H2O (1) and Wells-Dawson (C2H8N)4Na14[Yb4Se6W45O159(OH)6(H2O)11]·38H2O (2), have been isolated through a pH-controlled assembly, which exhibit the first YbIII-containing polyoxotungstates with selenium heteroatoms. Their assemblies rely on the structure-directing effects of SeO32- anion templates to give rise to available Se-containing Keggin-/Wells-Dawson-type motifs. Both compounds were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, power X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) as well as electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS). Furthermore, systematic magnetic studies revealed that 1 exhibits field-induced single-molecule magnetic behavior with a pre-exponential factor of τ0 = 6.60(7) × 10-8 s and a relaxation energy barrier of ΔE/kB = 39.44(2) K, while 2 only displays antiferromagnetic interactions between the ytterbium centers.

Abstract
A family of solution‐stable polyanions [Na⊂{LnIII(H2O)}{WVIO(H2O)}PV4WVI26O98]12− (Ln=Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu and Y) represent the first examples of polyoxometalates comprising a single lanthanide(III) or yttrium(III) ion in a rare trigonal prismatic O6 environment. Their synthesis exploits the reactivity of the organophosphonate‐functionalized precursor [P4W24O92(C6H5PVO)2]16− with heterometal ions and yields hydrated potassium or mixed lithium/potassium salts of composition KxLnyH12–x–y[Na⊂{Ln(H2O)}{WO(H2O)}P4W26O98]⋅nH2O⋅mLiCl (x=8.5–11; y=0–2; n=24–34; m=0–1.5). The Dy, Ho, Er and Yb derivatives are characterized by slow magnetization relaxation.
