Abstract
An attempt has been made to promote the efficiency of the electrochromic (EC) windows to perform at a faster switching rate with good coloration and easy recyclability. In this work, ion-assisted pulsed DC unbalanced confocal magnetron sputtering is used to fabricate mixed metal oxide thin films of Nb and Ti (which are termed as NTO) for EC applications. Further, to increase the EC efficiency of this film, a very thin metallic seed layer is incorporated between the substrate and the film using the layer-by-layer (LBL) coating strategy. The film was prepared by two steps: (i) very thin metallic seed layer coating and (ii) mixed metal oxide NTO layer coating. The metal layer was made of a Nb metal, Ti metal, and NbTi mixed metal, which was coated with the substrate and NTO layer, resulting in three different films, namely, Nb-NTO, Ti-NTO, and NbTi-NTO. The EC properties of these three films were studied in 1 M LiClO4 dissolved in propylene carbonate and compared with the as-prepared NTO film. The results showed that the Nb-NTO film showed better EC properties, fast switching, better stability, and good recyclability. To check the stability, the film was subjected to prolonged cycling of 500 cycles with a harsh anodic and cathodic sweep at the scan rate of 100 mV s-1. The UV-Vis spectrum confirmed the Li+ trapping in the films after prolonged cycling. To detrap the ions from the host surface, galvanostatic detrapping is carried out called rejuvenation studies. The rejuvenation rate of films is studied at a constant current loading of ∼2 × 10-5 A cm-2. To check the commercialization of the EC window, we successfully fabricated the Nb-NTO device with a PEO-LiClO4-based polymer gel electrolyte.

Abstract
The further demand for electric vehicles and smart grids prompts that the comprehensive function of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) has been improved greatly. However, due to sluggish Li+ diffusion rate, thermal runway and volume expansion, the commercial graphite as an important part of LIBs is not suitable for fast-charging. Herein, nano-sized Nb14 W3 O44 blocks are effectively synthesized as a fast-charge anode material. The nano-sized structure provides shorter Li+ diffusion pathway in the solid phase than micro-sized materials by several orders of magnitude, corresponding to accelerating the Li+ diffusion rate, which is beneficial for fast-charge characteristics. Consequently, Nb14 W3 O44 displays excellent long-term cycling life (135 mAh g-1 over 1000 cycles at 10 C) and rate capability at ultra-high current density (≈103.9 mAh g-1 , 100 C) in half-cells. In situ X-ray diffraction and Raman combined with scanning electron microscopy clearly confirms the stability of crystal and microstructure. Furthermore, the fabricated Nb14 W3 O44 ||LiFePO4 full cells exhibit a remarkable power density and demonstrate a reversible specific capacity. The pouch cell delivers long cycling life (the capacity retention is as high as 96.6% at 10 C after 5000 cycles) and high-safety performance. Therefore, nano-sized Nb14 W3 O44 could be recognized as a promising fast-charge anode toward next-generation practical LIBs.

Recent Manganese Oxide Octahedral Molecular Sieves (OMS–2) with Isomorphically Substituted Cationic Dopants and Their Catalytic Applications. Catalysts 2021. Abstract
The present report describes the structural and physical–chemical variations of the potassium manganese oxide mineral, α–MnO2, which is a specific manganese octahedral molecular sieve (OMS) named cryptomelane (K–OMS–2), with different transition metal cations. We will describe some frequently used synthesis methods to obtain isomorphic substituted materials [M]–K–OMS–2 by replacing the original manganese cationic species in a controlled way. It is important to note that one of the main effects of doping is related to electronic environmental changes, as well as to an increase of oxygen species mobility, which is ultimately related to the creation of new vacancies. Given the interest and the importance of these materials, here, we collect the most recent advances in [M]–K–OMS–2 oxides (M = Ag, Ce, Mo, V, Nb, W, In, Zr and Ru) that have appeared in the literature during the last ten years, leaving aside other metal–doped [M]–K–OMS–2 oxides that have already been treated in previous reviews. Besides showing the most important structural and physic-chemical features of these oxides, we will highlight their applications in the field of degradation of pollutants, fine chemistry and electrocatalysis, and will suggest potential alternative applications.
