Abstract
Radioembolization is a locoregional transarterial therapy that combines radionuclide and micron-sized beads to deliver radiation internally to the target tumors based on the arterial blood flow. While initially developed as a palliative treatment option, radioembolization is now used for curative intent treatment, neoadjuvant therapy, and method to downstage or bridge for liver transplant. Radioembolization has become increasingly utilized and is an important therapeutic option for the management of hepatocellular carcinoma and liver metastasis. This article provides an overview of the techniques, challenges, and novel developments in radioembolization, including new dosimetry techniques, radionuclides, and new target tumors.

Abstract
Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) and transarterial radioembolization (TARE) are common liver-directed therapies (LDTs) for unresectable HCC. While both deliver intra-arterial treatment directly to the site of the tumor, they differ in mechanisms of action and side effects. Several studies have compared their side effect profile, time to progression, and overall survival data, but often these lack practical considerations when choosing which treatment modality to use. Many factors can impact operator's choice for treatment, and the choice depends on treatment availability, cost, insurance coverage, operator's comfort level, patient-specific factors, tumor location, tumor biology, and disease stage. This review discusses survival data, time to progression data, as well as more practical patient and tumor characteristics for personalized LDT with TACE or TARE.

Abstract
Purpose: We describe our experience with the development of hepatobiliary infection in patients with prior surgical, percutaneous, or endoscopic biliary interventions who are receiving transarterial radioembolization (TARE) with yttrium-90 (90Y) for primary or metastatic hepatobiliary lesions. Methods: Records of 15 patients with a history of prior biliary intervention and liver malignancy subsequently treated with TARE at the participating medical center from November 2009 to September 2015 were reviewed. The primary endpoint was the development of a hepatic abscess or cholangitis in a patient after radioembolization. Results: A total of 15 patients comprising 9 men and 6 women, with a median age of 49 years (range 30-73), underwent 17 TARE with 90Y procedures. Of the 15 patients, 2 (13.3%) of them developed a hepatobiliary infection. A single patient (6.6%) developed a hepatobiliary abscess. Conclusion: Our study shows a low incidence rate of hepatic abscess following TARE in patients with prior biliary intervention.

Abstract
The safety of radioembolization with yttrium-90 ( 90 Y) is well documented and major complications are rare. Previous studies have demonstrated that biliary complications following 90 Y, including bile duct injury and hepatic abscess formation, occur at an increased rate in patients who have had prior biliary surgery and interventions. This article reviews a case of a patient who developed recurrent cholangitis and sepsis as well as a biliary-caval fistula following radioembolization. Additionally, we review current data regarding biliary complications following radioembolization in patients with prior biliary intervention.

Abstract
Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma is the second most common primary hepatic malignancy and poses a therapeutic challenge owing to its late-stage presentation and treatment-resistant outcomes. Most patients are diagnosed with locally advanced, unresectable disease and are treated with a combination of systemic and local regional therapies. Transarterial radioembolization offers a survival benefit and a favorable side effect profile, with a growing body of evidence to support its use. Herein, we review patient selection and detail outcomes of radioembolization for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, together with mention of competing treatments.

Abstract
Transarterial radioembolization with yttrium-90 microspheres is an established therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma. Post-procedural imaging is important for the assessment of both treatment response and procedural complications. A variety of challenging treatment-specific imaging phenomena complicate imaging assessment, such as changes in tumoral size, tumoral and peritumoral enhancement, and extrahepatic complications. A review of the procedural steps, emerging variations, and timelines for post-treatment tumoral and extra-tumoral imaging changes are presented, which may aid the reporting radiologist in the interpretation of post-procedural imaging. Furthermore, a description of post-procedural complications and their significance is provided.

Abstract
Hepatic tumors include hepatocellular cancer (HCC) and cholangiocarcinoma (CC), a small subgroup of tumors (approx. 1%) are classified as combined hepatocellularcholangiocellular carcinomas. Different stage-dependent therapeutic approaches comprise resection, local ablative techniques, locoregional therapies, systemic treatment, liver transplantation in selected cases and possible combination of these treatment modalities. This review summarizes current knowledge on multi-modal treatment strategies for liver cancer focusing on gastrointestinal side effects.

Abstract
Infectious complications following interventional radiology (IR) procedures can cause significant patient morbidity and, potentially, mortality. As the number and breadth of IR procedures grow, it becomes increasingly evident that interventional radiologists must possess a thorough understanding of these potential infectious complications. Furthermore, given the increasing incidence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, emphasis on cost containment, and attention to quality of care, it is critical to have infection control strategies to maximize patient safety. This article reviews infectious complications associated with percutaneous ablation of liver tumors, transarterial embolization of liver tumors, uterine fibroid embolization, percutaneous nephrostomy, percutaneous biliary interventions, central venous catheters, and intravascular stents. Emphasis is placed on incidence, risk factors, prevention, and management. With the use of these strategies, IR procedures can be performed with reduced risk of infectious complications.

Radioembolization is an established treatment modality that has been subjected to many improvements over the last decade. Developments are occurring at a high pace, affecting patient selection and treatment. The aim of this review is therefore to provide an overview of current practice, with a focus on recent developments in the field of radioembolization. Several practical issues and recommendations in the application of radioembolization will be discussed, ranging from patient selection to treatment response and future applications.
