Abstract
The modification of thermal chemical rates in Fabry-Perot cavities, as observed in experiments, still poses theoretical challenges. While we have a better grasp of how the reactivity of isolated molecules and model systems changes under strong coupling, we lack a comprehensive understanding of the combined effects and the specific roles played by activated and spectator molecules during reactive events. In this study, we investigate an ensemble of randomly oriented gas-phase HONO molecules undergoing a cis-trans isomerization reaction on an ab initio potential energy surface. One thermally activated molecule can overcome the reaction barrier, while the other molecules are nonactivated but coupled to the cavity as well. Using the classical reactive flux method, we analyze the transmission coefficient and determine the conditions that lead to accelerated rates within the collective regime. We identify two main mechanistic aspects: First, nonactivated molecules enhance the cavity's ability to dissipate excess energy from the activated molecule postreactive event. Second, the activated molecule couples with the polaritonic resonance created by the nonactivated molecules and the cavity at a shifted resonance frequency with respect to the bare cavity.

Abstract
In the present work, we introduce a simple means of obtaining an analytical (i.e., grid-free) canonical polyadic (CP) representation of a multidimensional function that is expressed in terms of a set of discrete data. For this, we make use of an initial CP guess, even not fully converged, and a set of auxiliary basis functions [finite basis representation (FBR)]. The resulting CP-FBR expression constitutes the CP counterpart of our previous Tucker sum-of-products-FBR approach. However, as is well-known, CP expressions are much more compact. This has obvious advantages in high-dimensional quantum dynamics. The power of CP-FBR lies in the fact that it requires a grid much coarser than the one needed for the dynamics. In a subsequent step, the basis functions can be interpolated to any desired density of grid points. This is useful, for instance, when different initial conditions (e.g., energy content) of a system are to be considered. We show the application of the method to bound systems of increased dimensionality: H2 (3D), HONO (6D), and CH4 (9D).

Abstract
The intramolecular vibrational relaxation dynamics of formic acid and its deuterated isotopologues is simulated on the full-dimensional potential energy surface of Richter and Carbonnière [F. Richter and P. Carbonnière, J. Chem. Phys. 148, 064303 (2018)] using the Heidelberg MCTDH package. We focus on couplings with the torsion vibrational modes close to the trans- cis isomerisation coordinate from the dynamics of artificially excited vibrational mode overtones. The C-O stretch bright vibrational mode is coupled to the out-of-the plane torsion mode in HCOOH, where this coupling could be exploited for laser-induced trans-to- cis isomerisation. Strong isotopic effects are observed: deuteration of the hydroxyl group, i.e., in HCOOD and DCOOD, destroys the C-O stretch to torsion mode coupling whereas in DCOOH, little to no effect is observed.

Abstract
The observed modification of thermal chemical rates in Fabry-Perot cavities remains a poorly understood effect theoretically. Recent breakthroughs explain some of the observations through the Grote-Hynes theory, where the cavity introduces friction with the reaction coordinate, thus reducing the transmission coefficient and the rate. The regime of rate enhancement, the observed sharp resonances at varying cavity frequencies, and the survival of these effects in the collective regime remain mostly unexplained. In this Letter, we consider the cis-trans isomerization of HONO atomistically using an ab initio potential energy surface. We evaluate the transmission coefficient using the reactive flux method and identify the conditions for rate acceleration. In the underdamped, low-friction regime of the reaction coordinate, the cavity coupling enhances the rate with increasing coupling strength until reaching the Kramers turnover point. Sharp resonances in this regime are related to cavity-enabled energy redistribution channels.

Abstract
A semi-automatic sampling and fitting procedure for generating sum-of-product (Born-Oppenheimer) potential energy surfaces based on a high-dimensional model representation is presented. The adaptive sampling procedure and subsequent fitting relies on energies only and can be used for re-fitting existing analytic potential energy surfaces in sum-of-product form or for direct fits from ab initio computa- tions. The method is tested by fitting ground electronic state potential energy surfaces for small to medium sized semi-rigid molecules, i.e., HFCO, HONO, and HCOOH, based upon ab initio computations at the CCSD(T)-F12/cc-pVTZ-F12 or MP2/aug-cc-pVTZ levels of theory. Vibrational eigenstates are computed using block improved relaxation in the Heidelberg MCTDH package and compared to available experimental and theoretical data. The new potential energy surfaces are compared to the best ones currently available for these molecules, in terms of accuracy, including of resulting vibrational states, required numbers of sampling points, and number of fitting parameters. The present procedure leads to compact expansions and scales well with the number of dimensions for simple potentials such as single or double wells.

Abstract
The internal-axis system (IAS) of molecules with a large amplitude internal motion (LAM) is determined by integrating the kinematic equation of the IAS by Lie-group and Lie-algebraic methods. Numerical examples on hydrogen peroxide, nitrous acid, and acetaldehyde demonstrate the methods. By exploiting the special product structure of the solution matrix, simple methods are devised for calculating the transformation to the rho-axis system (RAS) along with the value of the parameter ρ characterizing a RAS rotational-LAM kinetic energy operator. The parameter ρ so calculated agrees exactly with that one obtained by the Floquet method as shown in the example of acetaldehyde. Geometrical interpretation of ρ is given. The advantageous property of the RAS over the IAS in retaining simple periodic boundary conditions is numerically demonstrated.

Abstract
In this paper, the use of the neural network (NN) method with exponential neurons for directly fitting ab initio data to generate potential energy surfaces (PESs) in sum-of-product form will be discussed. The utility of the approach will be highlighted using fits of CS2, HFCO, and HONO ground state PESs based upon high-level ab initio data. Using a generic interface between the neural network PES fitting, which is performed in MATLAB, and the Heidelberg multi-configuration time-dependent Hartree (MCTDH) software package, the PESs have been tested via comparison of vibrational energies to experimental measurements. The review demonstrates the potential of the PES fitting method, combined with MCTDH, to tackle high-dimensional quantum dynamics problems.

Abstract
The geometrical parameters, the frequencies, and absolute intensities for transitions between vibrational states of NH3···cis-HONO and NH3···cis-DONO hydrogen-bonded complexes are calculated using the approach earlier tested in calculations of isolated molecules of nitrous acid and the NH3···trans-HONO and NH3··trans-DONO complexes. Vibrational wave functions and energy values of the complexes are derived from variational solutions of anharmonic equations in one to four dimensions. The equilibrium nuclear configuration and potential energy surfaces are calculated by the MP2/aug-cc-pVTZ method with the basis set superposition error taken into account. Comparison of the obtained results with the analogous data calculated in the same approximation for isolated cis- and trans-HONO (DONO) molecules and the NH3···trans-HONO (DONO) complexes provides information about the changes in the spectroscopic and geometrical parameters of nitrous acid upon cis-trans transition, H/D substitution, and H-bond formation.

Abstract
The double bond photoisomerization of fulvene has been studied with quantum dynamics calculations using the multi-configuration time-dependent Hartree method. Fulvene is a test case to develop optical control strategies based on the knowledge of the excited state decay mechanism. The decay takes place on a time scale of several hundred femtoseconds, and the potential energy surface is centered around a conical intersection seam between the ground and excited state. The competition between unreactive decay and photoisomerization depends on the region of the seam accessed during the decay. The dynamics are carried out on a four-dimensional model surface, parametrized from complete active space self-consistent field calculations, that captures the main features of the seam (energy and locus of the seam and associated branching space vectors). Wave packet propagations initiated by single laser pulses of 5-25 fs duration and 1.85-4 eV excitation energy show the principal characteristics of the first 150 fs of the photodynamics. Initially, the excitation energy is transferred to a bond stretching mode that leads the wave packet to the seam, inducing the regeneration of the reactant. The photoisomerization starts after the vibrational energy has flowed from the bond stretching to the torsional mode. In our propagations, intramolecular energy redistribution (IVR) is accelerated for higher excess energies along the bond stretch mode. Thus, the competition between unreactive decay and isomerization depends on the rate of IVR between the bond stretch and torsion coordinates, which in turn depends on the excitation energy. These results set the ground for the development of future optical control strategies.

Abstract
The implementation of a quantum-controlled full adder-subtractor of two binary digits and of a "carry in" or a "borrow in" is simulated by encoding four qubits in the vibrational eigenstates of a tetra-atomic molecule (trans-HONO). The laser field of the gate is computed using optimal control theory by treating dynamics in full dimensionality. A controlled qubit enforces the addition or the subtraction. The global unitary transformation that connects the inputs to the outputs is driven by a single laser pulse. This decreases the duration of the operation and allows for a better use of the optical resources and for an improvement of the fidelity (>97%). Initialization and reading out are discussed. The timescale of the sequence initialization, gate and read out is<100 ps.

Abstract
In this work, we investigate general mechanistic principles that control reaction selectivity following S(1)/S(0) internal conversion in benzene. A systematic relationship is drawn between the varying topology of an extended seam of conical intersection and the balance between two competitive radiationless decay channels: photophysical (benzene reactant regeneration) and photochemical (prefulvene product formation). This is supported by a model quantum dynamics study, using a direct dynamics approach based on variational multiconfiguration Gaussian wavepackets, where initial excitation of specific vibrational modes is designed to generate dynamical pathways that reach selected targets regions of the seam. High-energy regions of the seam are found to be sloped and in favor of the photophysical channel, while lower-energy regions are peaked and give access to the photochemical channel. This changeover could in principle be exploited to define targets for optimal control, by exciting different combinations of specific vibronic levels in S(1), accessing different regions of the seam, and giving different products.
