Abstract
BACKGROUND Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are the most common reason for chronic pain in the orofacial area and significantly impact the lives of those affected. The role of lifestyle factors in TMD, however, remains less explored. This cohort study aims to estimate TMD prevalence by addressing potential selection biases and to evaluate the association between TMD and lifestyle factors with a specific focus on sick leave and health related quality of life. METHODS By linking data on TMD in the general population in Västerbotten, northern Sweden (n = 180,000) to health survey data (n = 120,000), information on sociodemographic factors and quality of life was available for 52,961 individuals (50.6% women) with a mean age of 53 years. We applied inverse probability weighting to adjust for selection bias and Poisson regression to explore associations with TMD. RESULTS TMD prevalence was 9.2% during the study period, being higher in women (12.9%) than men (5.4%). Weighting for varying visiting frequencies did not affect TMD prevalence (average difference 0.4% points). Individuals with TMD, especially women, reported more sick leave and use of pain medication, with a significant association between TMD and increased sick leave (prevalence ratio 1.89, 95% CI: 1.78-2.01) among both women and men. In addition, TMD was associated with a lower health related quality of life (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION The association of TMD with sick leave highlights the condition's profound impact on the lives of affected individuals. These findings underscore the influence of TMD on work life and the burden of TMD on the societal level. SIGNIFICANCE STATEMENT The findings provide insight into how TMD affect individuals, by incorporating lifestyle factors, social determinants and the impact of sick leave at a population level. By incorporating these areas into the study of TMD, we can deepen our understanding of how TMD affects individuals' lives. This approach may also create opportunities to develop more comprehensive strategies to address TMD, focusing on broader implications beyond the clinical symptoms.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) may be an 'idiom' of psychological distress in Confucian heritage cultures (CHCs). OBJECTIVES This systematic review/meta-analysis estimated the prevalence of TMDs in CHCs and compared the differences in TMD occurrence between time periods and age groups. Additionally, the associated biopsychosocial risk factors were also examined. METHODS The study protocol was developed a priori following the PRISMA guidelines and Joanna Briggs Institute systematic review methodology (CRD42021245526). Electronic searches of seven databases were conducted from January 2002 to Dec 2021. Reference lists of identified studies were hand-searched for additional articles. Study selection, quality assessment, and data extraction were done. Meta-analysis was performed using the RevMan 5.4 software. RESULTS Forty-eight articles were included in the systematic review. Overall prevalences were: TMDs-15% (95% CI: 15-16%); TMD pain-8% (95% CI: 7-9%); TMJ sounds-24% (95% CI: 21-27%); and TMJ locking-7% (95% CI: 1-13%). While TMD prevalence appeared to have declined from 2002 to 2011 to 2012-2021, the occurrence of TMD pain, TMJ sounds, and locking increased marginally or remained constant. TMD prevalence in children/adolescents was 18% (95% CI: 14-22%) and 17% (95% CI: 16-18%) among adults. Significant associations between TMDs and bruxism/psychological distress/education levels were specified by 73%/90%/88% of the relevant studies. CONCLUSIONS TMDs are prevalent in CHCs and a slight increase in TMD pain (2%) and TMJ sounds (8%) were discerned over the past two decades. TMDs are related to a myriad of biopsychosocial variables, particularly psychological distress, and these factors must be addressed within the cultural context of patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND As one of the most important indicators of socioeconomic status, educational attainment (EA) exhibits a strong association with temporomandibular disorders (TMDs). Despite this link, there is a lack of evidence regarding the causal role of EA in either facilitating or preventing TMDs. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to investigate the causal effect of education on TMDs and explore potential mediating pathways. METHODS Utilizing summary statistics from genome-wide association studies on years of schooling (N = 766 345) and TMDs (N = 211 023), we conducted Mendelian randomization (MR) to assess the overall effect of education. Additionally, a two-step MR approach was employed to evaluate 30 potential mediators and calculate the mediation proportions in the association. Comprehensive sensitivity analyses were used to verify the robustness, heterogeneity, and pleiotropy. RESULTS Univariable MR analyses revealed a causal effect of lower EA on an increased risk of TMDs (OR: 0.53, 95% CI: 0.43-0.66, p < .001). Five out of 30 modifiable factors were identified as causal mediators in the associations of EA with TMDs, including feeling nervous (mediation proportion: 11.6%), feeling tense (10.2%), depression (9.6%), feeling worry (7.6%) and daily smoking (8.9%). Meanwhile, no pleiotropy was detected in the analyses (p > .05). CONCLUSION Our findings supported that higher EA has a protective effect on the onset of TMDs, with partial mediation by psychological disorders and daily smoking. Interventions on these factors thus have the potential of substantially reducing the burden of TMDs attributed to low education.

Abstract
Objective This study aimed to explore the prevalence, signs, and symptoms of different types of TMD (Temporomandibular joint disorders) disorders in Tunisian patients. Methods A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted using the clinical records of patients from the Department of Functional Exploration, Pain, and Orofacial Dysfunction of the Dental Clinic of Monastir. Results TMD is associated with a female predominance, with a peak prevalence among those aged between 20 and 40 years. Pain and a limited range of motion were significantly more prevalent in women (p = 0.019 and p = 0.012, respectively). Clicking sounds were the most frequent joint noises (38.2 %). Crepitus was more prevalent among older adults (33 %). Of the different types of TMD, disk displacement with reduction was the most prevalent (n = 216, 39 %). Sleep bruxism was more prevalent than awake bruxism (20.7 % VS 9.5 %). Due to the heterogeneous TMD signs and symptoms, patients tend to seek medical attention from various specialties (e.g. neurology and otolaryngology). Conclusion The prevalence of different types of TMD, and the different signs and symptoms varied depending on sociodemographic characteristics, such as sex, age and lifestyle. Diagnosis is challenging and TMD may be confused with other orofacial pain conditions.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the association of different forms of inflammatory polyarthritis with clinical signs of temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and radiological findings in temporomandibular joint (TMJ), based on a nationwide health survey in Finland. The aim was also to assess the presence of clinical and radiological TMD findings in subjects with increased risk for developing rheumatoid arthritis (RA). MATERIAL AND METHODS Anationally representative sample included 6331 Finnish adults who participated in the Health 2000 Survey (BRIF8901). Subjects were examined for signs of TMD, findings in panoramic radiograph of TMJ, musculoskeletal health and serology (rheumatoid factor, RF, and anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide, aCCP). RESULTS Sixty-four percent of seronegative RAand 60% of seropositive RAsubjects had at least one sign of TMD. While adjusting for confounding factors (gender, age, dentures and smoking history), RAwas significantly associated with crepitation and abnormal radiological findings in TMJ. Seronegative RAwas also associated with restricted mouth opening. Systemic autoimmunity associated with RA("at risk of RA") was not associated with clinical or radiological TMD findings. CONCLUSIONS Clinical and radiological findings of TMD are more prevalent among subjects with inflammatory polyarthritis than among the population in general in the Finnish adult population.

Abstract
Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) encompass a collection of pathologies. Within the multitude of etiological factors contributing to TMD, mechanical factors hold significant importance. The aim of this investigation was to assess the magnitude and distribution of stresses encountered by the temporomandibular joints (TMJs) during incisal clenching among TMD patients while also elucidating the mechanical pathogenesis underlying TMD. Ten asymptomatic subjects and ten TMD patients were recruited. The Control, Bilateral, and Unilateral groups were set. The contact stress, maximum principal stress, and minimum principal stresses of TMJ structures among the groups were compared. In addition, comparisons of the contact stress distribution among the groups were adopted. In the Control and Bilateral groups, the magnitudes of stresses (contact stress, maximum and minimum principal stresses) between the right and left sides showed no significant difference (P > 0.05). For unilateral TMD patients,the minimum principal stress on the condyle in the Uni-N group (the normal side) was significantly greater than thatin the Uni-T group (the TMD side)(P = 0.016, mean difference 9.99 MPa [95 %CI: 3.11 to 16.87]). Furthermore, stresses on the condyle and fossa of the patients were significantly greater than those of asymptomatic subjects (P < 0.05). The contact stress distributions were concentrated in the Control group while irregular in the TMD groups. In conclusion, asymmetrical contact stress distributions were observed in unilateral TMD, with excessive stresses on the healthy side. The protection of the healthy TMJ during treatment is recommended for patients with unilateral TMD.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study was conducted to present a completely digital workflow for the fabrication of occlusal stabilization splints using CAD/CAM systems and a digital face bow based on optical sensor technology. METHODS Digital scans of the maxillary and mandibular arches of 20 volunteers were obtained using an intraoral scanner. Jaw relation and mandibular movements were recorded with a digital face bow via optical sensors. The virtual increase of the vertical dimension of occlusion (VDO) was then performed, after which computer-aided design (CAD) of the occlusal stabilization splints was carried out. The corresponding splints were then manufactured using digitally controlled technology. RESULTS A completely digital workflow for the manufacturing of occlusal stabilization splints was found to be clinically feasible. The corresponding data analysis revealed high congruence between virtual and physical occlusal contacts on the occlusal splint. Moreover, the appropriate guidance of the anterior teeth area was easily obtainable, and the time for adjusting the occlusion was less. CONCLUSIONS This study demonstrated that the fabrication of occlusal stabilization splints using a fully digital workflow is feasible. Compared to traditional impression-based manufacturing, several advantages of digital manufacturing include easy accessibility, time-efficient manufacturing, high-level accuracy in splint quality, and potential to manufacture duplicate splints. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE The proposed fully digital approach may help young dentists fabricating stable occlusal splints with beneficial curative effects. Meanwhile, it could also improve the production efficiency of stable occlusal splints, saving time for both doctors and patients while reducing labor costs.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Clinical guidelines recommend conservative treatment for the management of temporomandibular disorders (TMD), and manual therapy directed to temporomandibular structures is commonly applied to reduce pain and improve function. In a recent prospective study, we developed a clinical prediction tool based on an array of predictors to identify people with TMD who are likely to experience significant pain relief and functional improvements following a programme of manual therapies (MTP) applied to temporomandibular structures. The purpose of this study is to externally validate in a different sample (temporal validation) the prediction model obtained in the initial study. METHODS/ANALYSIS This observational prospective study will recruit a cohort of 120 adults with TMD from a Dental Hospital in Italy. The intervention will be an MTP consisting of four sessions (once per week) of manual therapy applied to temporomandibular structures. Candidate predictors included in the predictive model will be pain intensity during mouth opening, treatment expectations, number of pain locations, central sensitisation, TMD pain duration and maximal mouth opening. Outcome measures (i.e., pain intensity, functional improvement) will be collected before starting the MTP, after the last session and after 1 month (2 months from baseline). A reduction of pain intensity by at least 30% will be considered a good outcome. External validity of the prediction model will be evaluated after the last session by measuring its calibration, discrimination and overall fit. Additionally, the performance of the model will be evaluated considering the clinical outcomes collected 1 month after the last MTP session. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION Ethical approval was obtained from the Ethics Committee of the Fondazione IRCCS Ca' Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico, Italy. The results will be submitted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal, and the prediction model will be implemented in a web-based calculator to facilitate its use by clinicians. Abstract
Temporomandibular joint disorders (TMDs) are characterized by their multifactorial etiology and pathogenesis. A 3-year prospective study was conducted in a Portuguese TMDs department to study the prevalence of different TMDs signs and symptoms and their association with risk factors and comorbidities. Five hundred ninety-five patients were included using an online database: EUROTMJ. Most patients were female (80.50%), with a mean age of 38.20 ± 15.73 years. The main complaints were: (1) temporomandibular joint (TMJ) clicking (13.26%); (2) TMJ pain (12.49%); (3) masticatory muscle tension (12.15%). The main clinical findings were myalgia (74%), TMJ clicking (60-62%), and TMJ arthralgia (31-36%). Risk factors such as clenching (60%) and bruxism (30%) were positively associated with TMJ pain and myalgia. Orthodontic treatment (20%) and wisdom tooth removal (19%) were positively associated with TMJ clicking, while jaw trauma (6%), tracheal intubation (4%) and orthognathic surgery (1%) were positively associated with TMJ crepitus, limited mandibular range of motion, and TMJ pain, respectively. In total, 42.88% of TMDs patients had other associated chronic diseases, most of them were mental behavioral or neurodevelopmental disorders (33.76%), namely, anxiety (20%) and depression (13%). The authors also observed a positive association of mental disorders with the degree of TMJ pain and myalgia. The online database seems to be a relevant scientific instrument for healthcare providers who treat TMDs. The authors expect that the EUROTMJ database can serve as a milestone for other TMDs departments.

Abstract
The prevalence of temporomandibular disorder (TMD) is significantly high around the world. We conducted a literature review to determine the prevalence of TMD globally and in Saudi Arabia based on published studies. This review article collected 35 full-text articles after searching PubMed for TMD prevalence between 2015-2021. Assessing the prevalence of TMDs is important for several reasons, including providing an overview of the incidence of such disorders, educating the community, clarifying the gender and age group with the highest prevalence, establishing a program to prepare specialists to treat these disorders, and identifying the appropriate number of specialists by comparing TMD prevalence to Saudi Arabia's census. Out of 35 selected articles, thirty studies were done outside Saudi Arabia, and five were local. Less than 40% prevalence of TMD has been reported with associated factors such as gender, psychological status, and age. The female gender has shown a higher TMD rate than the male gender. Some authors have suggested conducting a temporomandibular joint (TMJ) assessment in the pediatric clinic. Moreover, TMD screening is an important tool for every patient visiting the dental clinic to assess TMJ status and treat TMD at early stages, especially in non-painful cases.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There is a lack of awareness regarding temporomandibular disorder (TMD) and its association with psychological and sociodemographic factors in the Turkish population. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between signs/symptoms of anxiety-depression, sociodemographic factors, parafunctional habits, bruxism, and the presence and severity of the symptoms of TMD in Turkish adults. METHODS The participants completed an online questionnaire consisting of sociodemographic questions, the Fonseca Anamnestic Index, and the Patient Health Questionnaire-4. RESULTS The mean age of the 2580 participants was 35.29 ± 12.70 years, and 63.3% were women. The frequency of the participants who showed symptoms of TMD was 69.8%. The severity of TMD symptoms was significantly greater in participants who had signs/symptoms of anxiety and depression (p < 0.05). Sociodemographic and psychological data showed an association between the presence and severity of the symptoms of TMD and sex (OR 1.52, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.26-1.85), parafunctional habits (OR 2.64, 95% CI 2.36-2.99), bruxism (OR 3.14, 95% CI 1.78-4.90), signs/symptoms of anxiety (OR 2.30, 95% CI 1.76-3.00), and signs/symptoms of depression (OR 1.90, 95% CI 1.48-2.42). CONCLUSIONS The results of the present study suggest that females and those who report bruxism, parafunctional habits, and signs/symptoms of anxiety-depression are more likely to show symptoms of TMD with different severity.

Abstract
(1) Background: This study aimed to perform a literature review related to disk displacement (DD) in class II malocclusion or cervical vertebrae position alterations and to report a hypodivergent case with cervical pain and right anterolateral DD with reduction, left anterolateral DD with reduction, and left joint effusion. (2) Methods: A structured electronic search was conducted between March 2022 and April 2022, without time limits, following PRISMA guidelines, in the following databases: PubMed, Scopus, Embase and Cochrane; the terms “disc displacement”, “disk displacement”, “temporomandibular joint”, “class II malocclusion” and “cervical vertebrae” are searched. (3) Results: the following thirteen publications are included in this review: two prospective studies and eleven cross-sectional studies; for evaluating disk position, eight included publications used magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), whilst six studies used lateral cephalogram to determine craniofacial morphology and relationships between the cranial base, vertical skeletal pattern, maxilla and mandible. (4) Conclusions: although the literature still shows contradictory opinions, a relationship between temporomandibular disorders and cervical posture has been shown in the presented case as well as in the literature review.

Abstract
PURPOSE The aim of this study was to analyze the clinical outcome of the use of botulinum toxin type A (BTX) intramuscular injections to the head and neck, particularly the masticatory muscles of patients with temporomandibular disorder (TMD). METHODS The medical records of all patients who had received intramuscular BTX injections between 2005 and 2018 at Päijät-Häme Central Hospital, Lahti, Finland were analyzed retrospectively. Gender, age, previous medical history, number of injections, injection areas, and therapeutic results were collected and analyzed. The outcome was divided into three categories based on the patients' subjective reports: not beneficial, beneficial, and highly beneficial. RESULTS A total of 68 patients had received intramuscular BTX injections in our unit for TMD symptoms. Clinical effectiveness could be analyzed from 63 patients. Overall, 87% of them reported favorable outcomes. 8 (13%) reported BTX injections as not beneficial, 15 (24%) as beneficial, and 40 patients (63%) as highly beneficial.Most patients had already received conventional treatment with an occlusal splint (93%) combined with pain medication (60%) in the primary care units before they were referred to our hospital.There were 59 (83%) female patients, and they responded better to BTX therapy than the male patients: 91% versus 57% (P value = 0.04). Average age at the first BTX injection visit was 44.6 years (range 17.8-77.2). Most commonly (65%), BTX was divided bilaterally to the masseter and temporalis muscles. CONCLUSIONS BTX injections had good therapeutic outcomes for our TMD patients. However, most patients require multiple injection visits.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Competencies in the clinical examination of patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMD) can be achieved by self-instruction. This study aimed to identify the impact of the Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (DC/TMD) instructional video on the practical examination skills of undergraduate students. MATERIALS AND METHODS One week prior to completing an objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) addressing the examination of patients with TMD, undergraduate students in their third year received either the DC/TMD manual (control group) or additionally watched the instructional video once (intervention group). After passing the OSCE, a feedback questionnaire was completed by the students. RESULT Fifty undergraduates were recruited to take part in the OSCE prior to their first clinical course. The sum scores achieved in the stations were higher in the intervention group, but missed significance. Participants of the intervention group more often agreed that completing the OSCE stations was easy, which was significant for one station (P = .023). 95.8% of the participating students supported the implementation of the video in dental education. DISCUSSION Due to the conception of the study, the video was only presented once to ensure that the control group had no access to the medium at all. However, it might be interesting to investigate whether repeated watching of the video enhances its effect. CONCLUSIONS Clinical competencies in the examination of TMD patients can be achieved by self-instruction with the DC/TMD manual and instructional video. Watching the video for educational purposes was highly recommended by undergraduate students.

Abstract
Objectives Association of temporomandibular disorders (TMD)-related pain with severe headaches (migraine and tension-type headaches [TTH]) was studied over a follow-up period of 11 years. Materials and methods The data used was from two nationally representative health surveys in Finland—the Health 2000 Survey (baseline) and the Health 2011 Survey (follow-up) (Bioresource Research Impact Factor [BRIF] 8901)—conducted by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL). The primary dataset of the current study included a subset of the population undergoing a clinical oral examination, including TMD examination, at baseline, and answering the questions related to severe headaches, both at baseline and at follow-up (n = 530). From the primary dataset, two datasets were created to study the onset of migraine (dataset 1) and TTH (dataset 2) separately. Dataset 1 included participants healthy of migraine, but not other headaches, at baseline (n = 345), and dataset 2 participants healthy of TTH and other headaches, except migraine, at baseline (n = 464). Bayesian logistic regression models with weakly informative priors were utilized to assess the association of muscle-related TMD pain (mTMD) at baseline and temporomandibular joint-related TMD pain (jTMD) at baseline with the presence of migraine and TTH at follow-up. Results Neither of the baseline TMD-related pain variables were associated with the presence of migraine at follow-up (posterior effect estimates-0.12, 95% credible interval [CI] -0.49–0.24, and 0.11, 95% CI -0.38–0.59, for mTMD and jTMD, respectively), whereas mTMD at baseline (posterior effect estimate 0.36, 95% CI 0.02–0.69), but not jTMD at baseline (posterior effect estimate -0.32, 95% CI -0.94–0.25), was associated with the presence of TTH at follow-up. Bayesian sensitivity analyses revealed that the estimates of the regression models were stable, demonstrating sufficient validity and consistency of the estimates. Conclusion These results indicate that diverse mechanisms may exist behind the associations of TMD-related painful conditions with different types of severe headaches. Clinical relevance TMD-related pain is a frequent comorbidity of severe primary headaches. Therapy of severe primary headaches may thus benefit significantly with the incorporation of a multi-disciplinary clinical team.

Abstract
Background: The temporomandibular joint is the one of the most important joints in the human body. It enables numerous orofacial functions such as mastication, swallowing, breathing, speech, emotional communication, and facial expressions. The aim of the study was to evaluate the prevalence of jaw functional limitations and oral behaviors with respect to general health status in patients with temporomandibular joint disorders—myofascial pain with referral. Materials and methods: The study group consisted of 50 individuals (37 females and 13 males) with complete natural dentition. The average age was 23.36 years with ± 0.30 as a standard error. All subjects underwent clinical examination and were diagnosed with myofascial pain with referral according to the Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders. The survey was conducted in connection with the Jaw Functional Limitation Scale-8 (JFLS-8), Jaw Functional Limitation Scale-20 (JFLS-20), Patient Health Questionnaire-4 (PHQ-4), Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7), Patient Health Questionnaire-15 (PHQ-15), and Oral Behaviors Checklist (OBC). Results: The most common functional problems in the entire study group were chewing tough food and yawning. In terms of gender, statistically significant differences were noted for chewing tough food and smiling (p = 0.015451; p = 0.035978, respectively). With respect to Bonferroni correction and Benjamini-Hochberg procedure, the observed differences were not statistically significant. There were no statistically considerable differences in mastication, mandibular mobility, verbal and emotional communication, or global limitations (p > 0.05). Over half (56%) of the respondents had depression of varying severity. Somatic symptoms of different severity were found in 78% of the patients, and 44% of the respondents declared anxiety disorders. The score of the Oral Behavior Checklist (OBC = 27.18) highlighted a high tendency for developing craniomandibular disorders. Conclusion: Patients with myofascial pain with referral, demonstrated a disturbed biopsychosocial profile. The restrictions in yawning and smiling as well as limitations in mastication, mobility, verbal and emotional communication, and global limitations appear to be significant predictors of craniomandibular dysfunction. Depression, stress, and somatic disorders are important factors predisposing patients to the occurrence of myofascial pain with referral. The progression of oral behaviors may indicate the role of somatosensory amplification.

Abstract
Studies on the role of physical fitness, physical activity and obesity as risk factors for temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are scarce. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the association of TMD symptoms with physical fitness, physical activity and body mass index (BMI) among Finnish conscripts. The study sample consisted of 8685 Finnish conscripts. Data on self-reported TMD symptoms were used as outcome variables. Physical activity (questionnaire), physical fitness (measured with physical tests: Cooper test, push-ups, sit-ups and standing long jump) and body mass index (BMI) were used as explanatory variables. The associations between TMD symptoms and explanatory variables were evaluated using Chi-squared test and logistic regression analysis. The prevalence of all TMD symptoms was significantly higher among those who exercised more rarely than weekly. Pain-related TMD symptoms were also significantly more frequent among those who were overweight (BMI ≥ 25). Poor push-up results and overweight (BMI ≥ 25) were significantly associated with jaw pain and TMJ pain at jaw rest. The present study showed that good physical fitness may be a protective factor against TMD pain. Dentists should also be prepared to motivate TMD patients to physical activity and regular exercise as part of the treatment.

Abstract
Abstract Introduction Orofacial pain is a critical TMD symptom that can influence physical and social capacity. Objective To evaluate the association of temporomandibular disorders (TMD) symptoms with affective relationships and demographic variables in young adults. Material and method A cross-sectional study involving 395 young adults was developed. Diagnostic Criteria for TMD, anxiety, and depression were collected from questionnaires. The Dental Health Component of the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need measures the orthodontic treatment need. Questionnaires also contained questions related to the previous orthodontic treatment. Logistic regression models were adjusted, estimating crude odds ratio with the 95% confidence intervals. The variables with p<0.20 in the analyses were assessed in a multiple logistic regression model, remaining with p≤0.10. Result There was no significant association of TMD symptoms with sex, age, medication use for pain, previous orthodontic treatment, orthodontic treatment need, anxiety, and depression (p>0.05). Individuals without an affective relationship are 1.78 (95%CI: 0.99-3.17) times more likely to report TMD symptoms. Conclusion Affective relationships showed an association with TMD symptoms in young adults.
