Abstract
This study investigated the variation in amino acid (AA) digestibility and MEn of 18 samples of solvent-extracted soybean meal (SBM; 6 European, 7 Brazilian, 2 Argentinian, 2 North American, 1 Indian) in cecectomized laying hens. The experimental diets contained either 300 g/kg of cornstarch or one of the SBM samples. Pelleted diets were fed to 10 hens in two 5 × 10 row-column designs so that 5 replicates were obtained from each diet during 5 periods. A regression approach and the difference method were used to determine AA digestibility and MEn, respectively. The variation in the digestibility of SBM differed among AA with ranges in digestibility of 6 to 12%-units for most AA. Among the first-limiting AA, the digestibility was 87 to 93%, 63 to 86%, 85 to 92%, 79 to 89%, and 84 to 95% for Met, Cys, Lys, Thr, and Val, respectively. The range of MEn for the SBM samples was 7.5 to 10.5 MJ/kg DM. Indicators of SBM quality (including trypsin inhibitor activity, KOH solubility, urease activity, and in vitro N solubility) and analyzed SBM constituents were significantly correlated (P ≤ 0.05) with AA digestibility or MEn only in a few cases. No differences were observed in AA digestibility and MEn between countries of origins, except low digestibility of some AA and MEn for the 2 Argentinian SBM samples. These results suggest that the precision of feed formulation benefits from considering the variations in AA digestibility and MEn. Often used indicators for SBM quality and analyzed constituents were not suitable to explain variations in AA digestibility and MEn, suggesting that AA digestibility and MEn are determined by other factors.

Abstract
A study was conducted to 1) investigate the influence of rapeseed cultivar on the range of variation in the chemical composition and feed value of rapeseed meals (RSM) for broilers and 2) to compare between single-cultivar RSM and a batch of UK-sourced proprietary rapeseed meal. Chemical composition was determined for a total of 10 single-cultivar RSM produced via prepressed solvent-extraction and a proprietary RSM. To investigate RSM digestibility a total of 360 birds were housed, six birds per pen, and between day 13 to 21 of age they received a diet containing per kg 250 g RSM and 750 g basal feed based on wheat and soybean meal. Titaniumdioxide (7 g/kg) was added as an inert marker. For the determination nitrogen-corrected metabolisable energy (AMEn) total excreta and feed intake were quantified over the last 4 d of the experiment. On the final day of the experiment ileal digesta were collected for determination of preceacal crude protein digestibility (pcCPD). With the exception of neutral detergent fibre (NDF), glucosinolates and soluble non-starch polysaccharides the coefficients of variation (CV%) for all major components were similar across all RSM (0.5 < CV% < 0.6). Glucosinolate contents were highest in the 10 single-cultivar RSM whereas NDF levels were greater in the proprietary RSM. Across the 10 single-cultivar RSM there was no significant effect of cultivar on AMEn or pcCPD. Pre-planned orthogonal contrasts indicated that the mean AMEn content and pcCPD of the proprietary RSM was significantly lower than the 10 single-cultivar RSM (p < 0.001). In view of the above, processing rather than cultivar appears to be the main driver of nutritional value in RSM fed to broilers.

Abstract
The food industry generates a large amount of waste every year, which opens up a research field aimed at minimizing and efficiently managing this issue to support the concept of zero waste. From the extraction process of oilseeds results oil cakes. These residues are a source of bioactive compounds (protein, dietary fiber, antioxidants) with beneficial properties for health, that can be used in foods, cosmetics, textile, and pharmaceutical industries. They can also serve as substrates for the production of enzymes, antibiotics, biosurfactants, and mushrooms. Other applications are in animal feedstuff and for composites, bio-fuel, and films production. This review discusses the importance of oilseed and possible valorization methods for the residues obtained in the oil industry.

Abstract
The objective was to determine phytase effects on prececal amino acid (AA) digestibility and phytate (InsP6) breakdown when different oilseed meals were used in broiler chicken diets. The study included 14 diets: a corn-soybean meal (SBM) basal diet and 6 diets that contained SBM, rapeseed meal (RSM), and sunflower meal (SFM) with 2 inclusion levels at the expense of corn starch (150 and 300 g/kg SBM or SFM, or 100 and 200 g/kg RSM). Each diet was mixed with or without a phytase supplement of 1,500 FTU/kg. Diets were provided to broilers for 5 D. Digesta from the posterior half of the ileum were collected on day 21. The average essential AA digestibility, calculated by a regression approach, without and with phytase was 84 and 85% (SBM), 74 and 77% (SFM), and 66 and 73% (RSM), respectively. In the diets, phytase effects on AA digestibility were lower owing to other protein sources also present in the diet, but significant. Prececal InsP6 disappearance was significantly affected by interactions between oilseed meal, inclusion level, and phytase supplementation. Overall, prececal InsP6 disappearance was higher in SBM diets (52%) than in SFM diets (38%) and intermediate in RSM diets (43%). Across diets, phytase supplementation effects on prececal InsP6 degradation linearly increased with the InsP6 concentration of the diet up to 12 g/kg DM. The only exception from linearity was the diet with the high inclusion of SFM, which contained 15.9 g InsP6/kg DM. In the ileal content, the concentration of myo-inositol was significantly increased by phytase supplementation, and this effect was highest in the diets that contained SBM as the only oilseed meal. Concentrations of lower inositol phosphates were increased by phytase supplementation, and this effect was most remarkable for Ins(1,2,3,4)P4 and inositol tetrakisphosphates. The study showed that phytase effects on AA digestibility varied among the 3 tested oilseed meals, but these differences were not detectable in the diets containing these meals. Although phytase effects on ileal content of InsP6 and its degradation products were substantial, they were not related to the effects on AA digestibility.

Abstract
The nutritional function of vegetable oil is influenced by different oil extraction methods. In this study, the effects of different processing techniques on the quality of rapeseed oil and animal lipid metabolism were evaluated. Results showed that rapeseed oil obtained by the aqueous enzymatic extraction (AEE) method had the highest polyphenol (152.08 ± 11.44 mg GAE per kg), α-tocopherol (208.97 ± 15.84 mg kg-1), and β-carotene (5.40 mg kg-1) contents and a better oxidation resistance. It was noted in an experiment on rats fed with diets containing rapeseed oils that AEE rapeseed oil reduces total cholesterol (TC), triacylglycerol (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), aspartate transaminase (ALT) and alanine transaminase (AST) in high-fat diet rats by 27.09%, 11.81%, 35.52%, 31.02% and 27.61%, respectively, and the body and liver weights of rats were decreased. mRNA expression indicated that AEE could significantly down-regulate fatty acid synthase (FAS) and up-regulate acyl-CoA oxidase 1 (ACOX1) gene expression levels (P < 0.05). These results suggested that the AEE method can increase the content of trace active substances in rapeseed oil and ameliorate chronic diseases induced by a high-fat diet.

Abstract
Rapeseed has a multifunctional agricultural and environmental value. According to statistics, the growth of acreage occupied by rapeseed in the Russian Federation for 10 years reached 126.8 % or 872.9 thousand ha. The article provides an assessment of spring rapeseed production for oilseeds in the Clearfield system at different levels of mineral nutrition in combination with Ecorost bio-fertilizer in conditions of the Non-Chernozem Zone of Russia. The studies were carried out in 2018–2019 at an experimental agrotechnological station of Ryazan State Agrotechnological University Named after P.A. Kostychev (FSBEI HE RSATU) on gray forest soils. High efficiency of the Clearfield production system has been established. The introduction of N180P120K60 complex for pre-sowing cultivation contributed to the formation of maximum indicators of the rapeseed yield formula and size. The highest yields were shown by Ecorost variants: Kultus KL N180P120K60 (27.8 dt/ha), Cultus KL N180 (27.3 dt/ha), Cebra KL N180P120K60, N180 (24.4 dt/ha), Cyclus KL N180, N90P60K60 (26.6 dt/ha). The maximum profitability of rapeseed oilseeds production was obtained on N180 variant Kultus KL (133.5 %).

Abstract
1. The objective of this study was to investigate the variations in amino acid (AA) digestibility of lupin and pea grains in caecectomised laying hens. The relationship between AA digestibility and chemical constituents of the grains was determined. 2. Twelve variants of lupins and peas were each added to a basal diet at a concentration of 300 g/kg, at the expense of maize starch. The lupin and pea variants were separately investigated in two subsequent trials. Each trial consisted of two 7 × 7 Latin squares, each comprising the basal diet and six diets with lupins or peas. 3. Fourteen caecectomised laying hens (LSL-classic) were individually housed in metabolism cages and 120 g/d of experimental diets were provided for eight days. During the last four days, excreta were collected quantitatively and feed intake was recorded. A regression approach was used to determine the AA digestibility of the lupin and pea variants. 4. Amino acid digestibility of the lupins and peas was high, although significant differences in AA digestibility among the lupins and peas were detected. The digestibility of lysine was in the range of 0.87-0.91 and 0.87-0.93 for lupins and peas, respectively. The digestibility of methionine in lupins and peas varied between 0.80-0.88 and 0.72-0.90. Variations in AA digestibility in peas were more pronounced than in lupins. 5. Significant correlations between chemical constituents of lupins, such as alkaloids, and AA digestibility were detected in some cases, without a consistent pattern. In peas, tannin concentration and the insoluble protein fraction were negatively correlated with digestibility of some AAs, but only when one colour flower variant was considered. Trypsin inhibitor activity in peas was negatively correlated with AA digestibility, particularly for the white flower variants.

Abstract
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary rapeseed meal (RSM) inclusion levels on growth performance, organ health and standardized ileal amino acid digestibility (SIAAD) in meat ducks from 15 to 35 days of age. Six hundred and eighty 15-days-old ducks were randomly allotted to five treatments based on body weight. Five isonitrogenous and isoenergetic diets were formulated on a digestible amino acid basis by replacing 0% (the control), 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% (based on fresh) of protein from soya bean meal (SBM) with protein from RSM. The corresponding levels of RSM in experimental diets were 0%, 6.66%, 13.32%, 19.98% and 26.64% respectively. With increasing dietary RSM levels, body weight (BW) and average daily gain (ADG) linearly decreased (p < 0.001), whereas feed-to-gain ratio (F: G) linearly increased (p = 0.0078). Ducks fed the diets with 13.32% or more RSM had significantly lower (p < 0.05) BW, ADG and ADFI, or higher F: G than ducks fed the control diet. The maximum limit of dietary RSM supplementation was estimated to range from 4.27% to maximize ADG for 15 to 35 days to 11.69% to maintain feed intake for 15 to 35 days on the basis of a broken-line model. At day35, the 4th primary wing feather length and SIAAD (except for Met, Thr and Val) linearly decreased (p < 0.001), and the thyroid glands weight (% of BW) linearly increased (p < 0.05) with increasing dietary RSM levels. Ducks fed the RSM inclusion diets had significantly lower (p < 0.0001) serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine transaminase (ALT) activities than ducks fed the control diet. These results suggested that the maximum limit of dietary RSM containing 7.57 μmol/g glucosinolates was estimated to be 4.27% to avoid growth reduction.

Abstract
Soybean meal (SBM) is the most widely and expensive protein source used in the formulation of poultry diets; however, when the price of SBM increases, poultry nutritionists seek alternative sources that are more economical in formulating least-cost rations. This research aimed to evaluate the effects of dietary air-classified sunflower meal (SFM) on some productive parameters and plasma steroid hormones in laying hens. In this trial, 20-week-old laying hens (ISA Brown strain) in the early phase of production were randomly assigned to two groups and fed wheat middlings-based diets containing soybean (135 g/kg; 48% CP) or air-classified SFM (160 g/kg; 41% CP) as the main protein source. Laying performance, egg size and feed conversion ratio were evaluated for 10 week. Plasma steroid hormones (progesterone and oestradiol) in the hens were quantified weekly. Substituting SBM with air-classified SFM did not change (p > 0.05) the hens' growth performance, whereas feed consumption and efficiency were positively influenced (p < 0.05) by SFM treatment. Egg production rate was improved in hens fed the SFM diet (p < 0.05), as well as the percentage of medium-size eggs that was higher for SFM treatment (p < 0.05). Steroid hormones levels were affected by dietary treatment (p < 0.01). From our findings, it could be effective to include air-classified SFM in early-phase laying hen diets as an alternative protein source substituting SBM, without negative influence on productive performance and egg traits, reducing also the production costs.
