Abstract
Herein, we report synthesis, characterization, antimicrobial and antimalarial activities of azines Schiff base ligands (L1 -L4 ) and their palladium (II) complexes (C1 -C4 ) of [Pd(L)(OAc)2 ] type. The azine ligands (L1 -L4 ) were prepared by condensation of carbonyl compounds with hydrazine hydrate and their complexes by the reaction of palladium acetate with L1 -L4 ligands in 1 : 1 molar ratio. The prepared ligands and their complexes were characterized by spectral characterization using 1 H &13 C-NMR, FT-IR and mass spectral studies, which revealed that the ligands coordinates via azomethine nitrogen and heteroatom or aryl carbon with palladium. Moreover, Schiff bases and their palladium (II) complexes have been screened for their antibacterial (S. aureus, B. subtillis, and S. typhi, P. aeruginosa), antifungal (C. albicans, A. niger, and A. clavatus) and antimalarial (P. falciparum) activities. The Schiff base L4 showed good results for antibacterial against S. aureus (MIC, 50 μg/mL) and antimalarial against P. falciparum (IC50 , 0.83 μg/mL). The complex C1 showed best antibacterial activity (MIC, 62.5 μg/mL) against S. typhi and the complex C4 exhibited remarkable antimalarial activity (IC50 , 0.42 μg/mL) among the tested compounds. Thus, azines based ligands and their Pd complexes can be good antimicrobial and antimalarial agents if explored further.

Abstract
A novel Schiff base ligand 2-(((2-(benzylthio)phenyl)imino)methyl)-4-chlorophenol and its cobalt, nickel, copper, and zinc metal complexes were prepared. Using B3LYP/6-31++G(d,p) method with LanL2DZ as basis set, the molecular structure of metal complexes has been optimized, and their parameters have been explored. The distorted octahedral geometries have been observed in cobalt, nickel, and copper complexes. In contrast, zinc complex exhibited distorted tetrahedral geometry indicating the coordination of metal ions with ligands through ONS binding sites, which are confirmed by various spectroscopic techniques, magnetic measurements, molar conductivity, elemental analysis, and DFT studies. The intercalative binding mode between CT-DNA and synthesized metal complexes has been determined by absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy. The binding constant values of metal complexes found to be varied from 5.28 × 103 M-1 to 9.18 × 104 M-1. Furthermore, several methods have been used to scrutinize the bioactivities, such as in vitro anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant. From the obtained results, it can be concluded that zinc metal complex exhibited excellent anti-inflammatory and anti-diabetic activity compared to others. However, the copper complex has good antioxidant property. Besides deducing the prospective binding energies of inhibitors, molecular docking simulations have also been conducted utilizing the enzyme structures of B-DNA, 6-COX, α-amylase, and α-glucosidase.

Abstract
Metal complexes play a crucial role in pharmaceutical sciences owing to their wide and significant activities. Schiff bases (SBs) are multifaceted pharmacophores capable of forming chelating complexes with various metals in different oxidation states. Complexes with SBs are extensively studied for their numerous advantages, including low cost and simple synthetic strategies. They have been reported to possess a variety of biological activities, including antimicrobial, anticancer, antioxidant, antimalarial, analgesic, antiviral, antipyretic, and antidiabetic ones. This review summarizes the most recent studies on the antimicrobial and antiproliferative activities of SBs-metal complexes. Moreover, recent studies regarding mononuclear and binuclear complexes with SBs are described, including antioxidant, antidiabetic, antimalarial, antileishmanial, anti-Alzheimer, and catecholase activities.

Abstract
Two imine compounds named as (E)-2-(((3,4-dichlorophenyl)imino)methyl)phenol (DC2H) and (E)-4-(((2,4-dimethylphenyl)imino)methyl)phenol (DM4H) are synthesized, and their crystal structures are verified using the single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique. The crystal structures of the compounds are compared with the closely related crystal structures using the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD). The crystal packing in terms of intermolecular interactions is fully explored by Hirshfeld surface analysis. Void analysis is carried out for both compounds to check the strength of the crystal packing. Furthermore, a state-of-the-art dual computational technique consisting of quantum chemical and molecular docking methods is used to shed light on the molecular structure, optoelectronic properties, and bioactivity of indigenously synthesized compounds. The optimized molecular geometries are compared with their counterpart experimental values. Based on previous reports of biofunctions of the indigenously synthesized imine derivatives, they are explored for their potential inhibition properties against two very crucial proteins (main protease (Mpro) and nonstructural protein 9 (NSP9)) of SARS-CoV-2. The calculated interaction energy values of DC2H and DM4H with Mpro are found to be -6.3 and -6.6 kcal/mol, respectively, and for NSP9, the calculated interaction energy value is found to be -6.5 kcal/mol. We believe that the current combined study through experiments and computational techniques will not only pique the interest of the broad scientific community but also evoke interest in their further in vitro and in vivo investigations.

Abstract
Abstract
Schiff bases are in the field of medicinal and material chemistry for a long time. There are several advancements from time to time towards facile synthesis and potential applications. As medicines they have been applied as organic molecules as well as their metal complexes. The activities of metal complexes have been found to increase due to increase lipophilicity in comparison to the corresponding free ligand. Besides simple coordination compounds they have been applied as ionic liquid (IL)- supported and IL-tagged species with far enhanced efficiency. Among metal complexes recent advancement deals with photodynamic therapy to treat a number of tumors with fewer side effects. Schiff bases are efficient ligands and their complexes with almost all metal ions are reported. This mini-review article deals with complexes of Schiff bases with biologically compatible metal ions, Co(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Pd(II), Ag(I), Pt(II) and their potential uses to combat cancerous cells. Strong hopes are associated with photodynamic therapy and IL-tagged and IL-supported Schiff bases and their complexes.

Abstract
A novel Schiff base compound named as phenylmethanaminium (E)-4-((benzylimino)methyl)benzoate C7H10N+. C15H12NO2 - (A) is synthesized by the chemical reaction of benzylamine and 4-carboxybenzaldehyde in ethanol, and the structure of the titled compound is verified using the single-crystal X-ray diffraction technique. Structural investigation inferred that the crystal packing is mainly stabilized by N-H···O and comparatively weak C-H···O bonding between the cation and anion and further stabilized by weak C-H···π and C-O···π interactions. Hirshfeld surface analysis is employed to explore the noncovalent interactions that are responsible for crystal packing quantitatively. Furthermore, we have used state-of-the-art quantum chemical calculations to get comprehensive insights into the structure-optoelectronic property relationship for the entitled compound. The molecular geometry of compound A is optimized at the M06/6-311G* level of theory. The linear polarizability, third-order nonlinear optical (NLO) polarizability, total and partial density of states, and UV-visible spectrum are calculated through quantum chemical calculations. We believe that compound A is not only a new addition to crystallographic data but also possesses good optical and NLO properties for its potential use in lasers and frequency-converting applications.
