Application of the LINEX Loss Function with a Fundamental Derivation of Liu Estimator

For a variety of well-known approaches, optimum predictors and estimators are determined in relation to the asymmetrical LINEX loss function. The applications of an iteratively practicable lowest mean squared error estimation of the regression disturbance variation with the LINEX loss function are discussed in this research. This loss is a symmetrical generalisation of the quadratic loss function. Whenever the LINEX loss function is applied, we additionally look at the risk performance of the feasible virtually unbiased generalised Liu estimator and practicable generalised Liu estimator. Whenever the variation σ² is specified, we get all acceptable linear estimation in the class of linear estimation techniques, and when σ² is undetermined, we get all acceptable linear estimation in the class of linear estimation techniques. During position transformations, the proposed Liu estimators are stable. The estimators' biases and hazards are calculated and evaluated. We utilize an asymmetrical loss function, the LINEX loss function, to calculate the actual hazards of several error variation estimators. The employment of δ_P(σ), which is easy to use and maximin, is recommended in the conclusions.

Comparing Parametric, Nonparametric, and Semiparametric Estimators: The Weibull Trials

We use simple examples to show how the bias and standard error of an estimator depend in part on the type of estimator chosen from among parametric, nonparametric, and semiparametric candidates. We estimated the cumulative distribution function in the presence of missing data with and without an auxiliary variable. Simulation results mirrored theoretical expectations about the bias and precision of candidate estimators. Specifically, parametric maximum likelihood estimators performed best but must be "omnisciently" correctly specified. An augmented inverse probability-weighted (IPW) semiparametric estimator performed best among candidate estimators that were not omnisciently correct. In one setting, the augmented IPW estimator reduced the standard error by nearly 30%, compared with a standard Horvitz-Thompson IPW estimator; such a standard error reduction is equivalent to doubling the sample size. These results highlight the gains and losses that can be incurred when model assumptions are made in any analysis.

Model based estimation of population total in presence of non-ignorable non-response

The problem of handling non-ignorable non-response has been typically addressed under the design-based approach using the well-known sub-sampling technique introduced by Hansen and Hurwitz [1946, Journal of the American Statistical Association, Vol 41(236), Page 517- 529]. Alternatively, the model-based paradigm emphasizes on utilizing the underlying model relationship between the outcome variable and one or more covariate(s) whose population values are known prior to the survey. This article utilizes the model relationship between the study variable and covariate(s) for handling non-ignorable non-response and obtaining an unbiased estimator for the population total under the sub-sampling technique. The main idea is to combine the estimates obtained from the sample on first call and the sub-sample from second call using separate model relationships. The contribution of this paper helps us in providing unbiased estimates with an improved efficiency under model-based paradigm in presence of non-ignorable non-response. The provided method is more economical than the available estimators under callback methods as we are working sub-sampling and also increase response rate as a stronger mode of interview is employed for data collection. A numerical study using Monte Carlo is presented to illustrate the behavior of the proposed and the efficiency comparison.
