Abstract
BACKGROUND While numerous studies have explored age and playing position effects on fitness levels in male adolescent soccer players, research on female players in this context is lacking. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of age and playing position on field-based physical fitness measures in adolescent female soccer players, with consideration for maturity. METHODS This cross-sectional study involved 284 females aged 12.0-15.9 years. Participants performed the 20-m multi-stage fitness test (20MSFT) to assess estimated maximum oxygen uptake (VO2max), 10-m and 20-m sprints, 505 Test to evaluate change of direction speed (CODS), the medicine ball chest throw (MBCT) and countermovement vertical jump (CMVJ) to assess muscle power. For data analysis, participants were separated into age groups (12, 13, 14, and 15 years), and playing position (forward, midfielder, defender, and goalkeeper). Age at peak height velocity was considered a covariate to account for maturity status. RESULTS Players aged 14 years demonstrated faster CODS compared to 15 years old (P=0.014), while superior MBCT performance was noted at both ages compared to younger ages (P<0.001). Goalkeepers exhibited lower VO2max than midfielders and defenders (P<0.05). Defenders and goalkeepers exhibited greater hip circumference and body mass compared to midfielders (P≤0.01), along with a larger waist circumference for defenders compared to midfielders (P=0.003). Age and position interactions were absent. When analyses were run without controlling for maturity, all results were the same except for CODS where no age effect was found. CONCLUSIONS This study suggests that upper body power, and flexibility may be impacted by age and playing position in adolescent female soccer players, regardless of maturity status. The CODS appears to be influenced by age only when controlling for maturity.

Abstract
This cross-sectional study investigated the impact of age and playing position, controlling for maturity, on physical fitness indicators in 303 adolescent female netball players aged 12.0 to 15.9 years. Assessments included estimated maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) via the 20 m shuttle run test, 10 m and 20 m sprints, change of direction speed (CODS) using the 505 test, and muscle power via the medicine ball chest throw (MBCT) and countermovement vertical jump (CMJ). Participants were grouped by age (12 to 15 years) and playing position (non-circle and circle players), with age at peak height velocity as a covariate for maturity. Results revealed that, at 15 years, CMJ height was greater than at 12 years and 13 years (p < 0.05, partial η2 = 0.048). MBCT distance increased across age groups (p < 0.01, partial η2 = 0.323). Age had no impact on sprints, VO2max, or CODS. Non-circle players outperformed circle players in the 10 m sprint (p = 0.042, partial η2 = 0.016) and 20 m sprints (p = 0.010, partial η2 = 0.025) and displayed higher VO2max (p < 0.001, partial η2 = 0.036). Circle players were taller (p = 0.046, partial η2 = 0.014) and heavier (p < 0.001, partial η2 = 0.040) than non-circle players. Playing positions showed no differences in CMJ and MBCT. In adolescent female netball players, only muscle power is influenced by age, while non-circle players exhibit superior aerobic fitness and speed compared to circle players. Coaches may be able to utilize the distinct age and playing position traits of adolescent netballers to inform player selection and design targeted training programs.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The prevalence of overweight/obesity has been increasing globally and in people with Intellectual Disabilities (IDs), this problem is exacerbated even more, which added to a low physical condition that contributes to the deterioration of functionality and increases the risk of developing chronic diseases in the course of life. Therefore, the aim of this study was to establish cut-off points for levels of isometric handgrip and low limb explosive strength in children, adolescents and adults, which identify overweight/obesity in people with IDs and their respective associations. METHODS The sample was made up of 131 individuals with IDs, belonging to four special and community educational centres in the city of Santiago, Chile. Body mass index (BMI) and waist-to-height ratio (WHR) were used as indicators of overweight/obesity. Handgrip strength was used as a measure of isometric strength, and countermovement jump was used as a measure of low limb explosive strength. For the comparison of variables by age group, the analysis of Ancova, Kruskal-Wallis and chi-square tests were used. The total area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of isometric handgrip and low limb explosive strength was identified as an indicator of overweight/obesity according to age groups. A logistic regression model was used to quantify the effect that strength categories below the cut-off point have on the risk of overweight and obesity. RESULTS Significant differences were observed between the age groups for body weight, height, BMI and WHR, as well as in the levels of absolute handgrip strength and vertical jump with countermovement (P ≤ 0.05). Children showed the lowest cut-off points for absolute and relative strength. The adolescent group showed the highest cut-off points for relative strength and countermovement jump and adults showed the highest value for absolute strength as indicators of overweight/obesity. Different associations between cut-off points with BMI and WHR were found. CONCLUSIONS Adolescents showed the highest cut-off point for relative strength and countermovement jump, and adults showed the highest value for absolute strength, according to overweight/obesity indicators (BMI and WHR). It is suggested to adjust resistance training programmes according to age categories for the prevention of overweight/obesity in people with IDs.

Abstract
The aim of this research was to determine the association between dry-land exercises and the start kinetics in elite swimmers. Fourteen swimmers (eight males and six females) included in a national team took part in this study. A fixed smith-machine was used to measure the maximal full squat strength (Smax). The height of squat (SJ) and countermovement (CMJ) jumps were collected with a contact mat. The ground reaction force of the kick starts in the three-dimensional axis (Fz horizontal; Fy, vertical; Fx, lateral) was obtained by an instrumented force plate in the starting block. Overall, the Smax showed a high and significant association with Fz (r = 0.60) and Fy (r = 0.87). Moderate and significant associations were found between Fy and SJ (r = 0.51) and CMJ (r = 0.57). While Smax in males showed high association with Fy (r = 0.77), the Smax for females showed greater association with Fz (r = 0.84). As conclusion, the full back squat seems to be the dry-land exercise with higher association with the kick start kinetics. While in males the full squat defines better the vertical component, for females it defines the horizontal one.

Abstract
This study aimed to examine the associations between lower-body explosive strength (squat jump-SJ, and countermovement jump-CMJ), speed (10- and 35-m linear sprints), and agility (t-test) capacities, after controlling for crucial predictors such as chronological age (CA) and body composition. The sample was composed of 164 adolescent male football players from under 19, under 17, and under 15 age groups. Body fat percentage (BF%) was significantly and positively related to body mass, speed, and agility. In contrast, BF% was a significant negative predictor of lower-body explosive strength. Sprint and t-test times were significantly and negatively correlated with lower-body explosive strength. After controlling for CA and body composition, SJ was the most significant predictor, accounting for 36 to 37% of the variance observed in the 35 m linear sprint and the t-test performance. Our main results suggest that lower-body explosive strength, particularly in the SJ, is a significant predictor of male adolescent male football players' speed and agility capacities. Conversely, detrimental relationships between BF% and these outcomes were observed. Sports agents should consider lower-body explosive strength development as part of the youth football training process, particularly to improve maximal sprint and change of direction times, which are crucial to game performance.
