Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to fill a gap in the literature regarding the role of resilience in the relationship between symptoms of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and loss of control (LOC) eating in a nonclinical sample of emerging adults. Resilience was examined as a potential moderator and as a potential mediator of ADHD symptoms and engagement in LOC eating behaviors. Improved understanding of this relationship may inform clinical intervention and risk screening methodologies for disordered eating behaviors in college students. METHODS Participants were undergraduate students (N = 386) from a private university in the northeastern United States. Linear regression analysis examined whether greater ADHD symptoms related to greater LOC eating. Pathway analyses examined resilience as either a moderator or mediator of the relationship between ADHD symptoms and LOC eating. RESULTS A direct positive relationship was found between ADHD symptoms and LOC eating (p < .05). Resilience partially mediated this relationship, such that increased ADHD symptoms indirectly related to increased LOC eating through low resilience (p < .05). CONCLUSION Findings indicate that undergraduate students with greater ADHD symptoms engaged in more frequent LOC eating, and that low resilience was a partial mediator of this positive relationship.

Abstract
Fussy eaters may have an increased risk of becoming overweight or obese as adolescents, with fussy eating and weight status also correlating with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDs) such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Further, maternal and children's weight status relationships are well-established. In this study, we analyzed the body composition of parent-child dyads using bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA). Fifty-one children aged 8-12 years, with an ND (n = 18) and without (n = 33), and their parents, participated in a 7-week food-based Taste Education intervention with 6-month follow-up. The paired t-test was used to compare differences in body composition based on children's ND status. In logistic regression analysis, odds of children being in the overweight/obese or overfat/obese categories increased by a factor of 9.1 and 10.6, respectively, when having NDs, adjusting for parents' BMI (body mass index) or fat percentage (FAT%). Children with NDs and their parents had significantly higher mean BMI-SDS (BMI standard deviation score) and FAT% at pre-intervention than children without NDs and their parents. Mean BMI-SDS and FAT% lowered significantly between time points for children with NDs and their parents but not for children without NDs or their parents. The findings underline the need for additional exploration into the relationships between children's and parents' body composition based on children's ND status.

Abstract
This study was a retrospective pilot chart review of adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) patients diagnosed with and without comorbid binge eating disorder (BED) and borderline personality disorder (BPD). ADHD research is critical because of its prevalence and persistence into adulthood. In the literature, ADHD, BED, and BPD are linked to an underlying impulsivity factor. This comparative study examined whether differences existed between patient groups concerning risk factors, comorbid disorders, and continuous performance test (CPT) cognitive scoring. The main goal was to find significant associations suggestive of correlations between specific factors and a principal diagnosis of ADHD with comorbid BED and BPD. Study participants were patients between 18 and 30 diagnosed by a psychiatrist in an outpatient clinic between June 2022 and December 2022. Both the control and comorbidity groups included 50 participants (N = 100). Patients were randomly chosen based on the chronological order of intake visit dates at the clinic and were selected as participants upon meeting the inclusion criteria. Data were collected through the Med Access EMR database, with quantitative data analyzed using SPSS and chi-squared p-value tests. The results showed significant associations between a principal diagnosis of ADHD with comorbid BPD and BED and (1) having four or more overall risk factors; (2) having five specific reported psychosocial risk factors: family issues, bullying, poverty, trouble with the law, and physical abuse; and (3) having on average more risk factors and comorbidities as compared to ADHD patients without comorbid BPD and BED. No association was found between low CPT scores and, thus, differential cognitive functionality between groups. This research will inform future study hypotheses to develop the clinical profile of ADHD patients with comorbid BED and BPD.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to assess the association between anorexia nervosa (AN), bulimia nervosa (BN), attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and associated impairments (e.g., suicidality). METHODS A secondary data analysis of the American College Health Association-National College Health Assessment IIc (Fall 2015-Spring 2019) was conducted to assess the prevalence of comorbid anorexia or bulimia + ADHD, symptoms, and impairments among college student (N = 342,432; Mage = 20.39, SD = 1.88). Logistic regressions were used to compare eating disorder symptomology, treatment utilisation, and suicidality among college students. RESULTS Compared to college students without ADHD, college students with ADHD were 18.30× more likely to be diagnosed with anorexia or bulimia and reported greater use of weight loss techniques (p's < 0.001). College students with comorbid anorexia or bulimia + ADHD reported higher rates of dieting to lose weight (aOR = 1.27, 95% CI: 1.12, 1.43, p < 0.001) and treatment utilisation (aOR = 1.30, 95% CI: 1.06, 1.50, p < 0.001) compared to college students with AN or BN only. The highest level of suicidality was reported in college students with the comorbid AN or BN + ADHD. CONCLUSION Elevated eating disorder symptoms and comorbidity is found among college students with ADHD. Increased screening and prevention for anorexia and bulimia is needed among young adults with ADHD to enhance care for those with these eating disorders.

Cognitive disinhibition and infrequent moderate-to-intense physical activity linked with obesity in U.S. soldiers. Eat Weight Disord 2021; 26:973-981. Abstract
PURPOSE To explore the relationship between body weight status and neurocognitive functioning in soldiers. METHODS U.S. soldiers (N = 109) answered survey questions and completed neurocognitive tests including simple reaction time, code substitution, procedural reaction time, go-no-go, matching to sample, code substitution recall, and four versions of the Stroop test including congruent (color and meaning of word agreed); incongruent (color and meaning of word differed); neutral (nonsense words appeared), and emotional (combat-related words such as "I.E.D" and "convoy" appeared). Self-reported heights and weights were used to calculate BMI. A BMI ≥ 30.00 kg/m2 was categorized as obese. Multivariate analysis of variance was used to analyze weight status differences (p ≤ 0.05) across neurocognitive variables. Binomial logistic regression analysis with obesity as the dependent variable was used to ascertain the contributions (p ≤ 0.05) of exercise and the neurocognitive measures that differed based on weight status. RESULTS Twenty-nine participants (26.6%) were obese. The obese group had significantly lower scores on code substitution, and both neutral and emotional Stroop tasks. Only Stroop emotional scores, p = 0.022, OR = 0.97, and frequency of moderate/intense physical activity, p = 0.009, OR = 0.10, were significant predictors of weight status. CONCLUSIONS Obesity was associated with less frequent moderate/intense physical activity and compromised executive functioning, namely decrements in response inhibition. Given the design and sample size, additional research is needed to better understand the direction of the relationship between these variables and to inform research related to the treatment and prevention of obesity within military populations. Abstract
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is associated with disordered eating, especially addictive-like eating behavior (i.e., binge eating, food addiction, loss of control overeating). The exact mechanisms underlying this association are unclear. ADHD and addictive-like eating behavior are both associated with negative affectivity and emotion dysregulation, which we hypothesized are mediators of this relationship. The purpose of this systematic review was to review the evidence related to this hypothesis from studies assessing the relationship between childhood or adulthood ADHD symptomatology, negative affectivity, emotion dysregulation and addictive-like eating behavior. The systematic review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) recommendations. The literature search was conducted in PubMed and PsycINFO (publication date: January 2015 to August 2020; date of search: 2 September 2020). Out of 403 potentially relevant articles, 41 were retained; 38 publications reported that ADHD and disordered eating or addictive-like eating behavior were significantly associated, including 8 articles that suggested a mediator role of negative affectivity or emotion dysregulation. Sixteen publications reported that the association between ADHD symptomatology and disordered eating or addictive-like eating behavior differed according to gender, eating behavior and ADHD symptoms (hyperactivity, impulsivity and inattention). We discuss the practical implications of these findings and directions future research.

Abstract
In the last decades, obesity has become a major concern for clinical and public health. Despite the variety of available treatments, the outcomes remain—by and large—still unsatisfactory, owing to high rates of nonresponse and relapse. Interestingly, obesity is being associated with a growing surge of neuropsychiatric problems, certainly related to the pathogenesis of this condition, and likely to be of great consequence as for its treatment and prognosis. In a neurobiologic direction, a sturdy body of evidence has recently shown that the immune–metabolic–endocrine dyscrasias, notoriously attached to excess body weight/adiposity, affect and impair the morpho-functional integrity of the brain, thus possibly contributing to neuroprogressive/degenerative processes and behavioral deviances. Likewise, in a neuropsychiatric perspective, obesity displays complex associations with mood disorders and affective temperamental dimensions (namely cyclothymia), eating disorders characterized by overeating/binge-eating behaviors, ADHD-related executive dysfunctions, emotional dysregulation and motivational–addictive disturbances. With this review, we attempt to provide the clinician a synoptic, yet exhaustive, tool for a more conscious approach to that subset of this condition, which could be reasonably termed “psychiatric” obesity.

Abstract
This narrative review is aimed at presenting the most recent evidence on the association between attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and obesity. The review is informed by previous relevant systematic reviews and a search in Pubmed and PsycINFO up to 1 August 2019. Although the association between ADHD and obesity would seem, at first, paradoxical, in the past two decades there has been an increasing number of studies on this topic. The present review shows that there is meta-analytic evidence supporting a significant association between these two conditions, at least in adults. Growing evidence is also being published on the genetic and environmental factors underlying the association. However, the cause–effects paths, as well as the exact mechanisms explaining the association, remain unclear. Additionally, empirical evidence guiding the management/treatment of patients with the two conditions is still limited. Therefore, after almost 20 years from the first report of a link between ADHD and obesity, this association continues to be puzzling.
