Abstract
OBJECTIVE The study aimed to conduct a scoping review of stressors in higher education institutions (HEIs), exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, and to identify successful interventions. METHODS We reviewed 79 studies published between January 2020 and January 2023. RESULTS Stressors were organized into psychosocial, organizational, and environmental categories. They included high job demand/low control, work/personal life imbalance, pressure to publish, lack of resources, low perceived organizational support, and fear of infection. Interventions included providing back-up childcare, employee assistance programs, financial well-being resources, paid medical leave, flexible work arrangements, greater transparency in decision making, leadership development, and adaptive physical space design. CONCLUSIONS Mental health and well-being interventions directed at faculty and staff in HEIs are needed given the many stressors faced by this workforce. Several interventions are highlighted in the literature, but most are speculative regarding their impact, given the limited number of outcome studies.

Abstract
Objective: Employee health plays an important role in overall campus health and wellbeing. Therefore, this research explored the physical, mental, and environmental determinants of perceived health in employees of higher education. Participants: 422 full-time employees from one university took the American College Health Association National Faculty and Staff Health Assessment (NFSHA) online in April 2021. Methods: A cross-sectional correlational design was used to explore which physical, mental, and environmental health factors influenced perceived health of employees. Results: Sleep, body mass index (BMI), flourishing, and the extent to which employees felt the university cared about their health and wellbeing were the four significant factors that increased the odds of employees reporting higher levels of perceived health. Conclusions: Using Bandura's reciprocal determinism as a theoretical lens, these results reinforce that behaviors, personal attributes, and the environment are interdependent and influence perceived health in this sample of university employees.

Abstract
Background Pandemic prevention measures increased physical inactivity due to travel restrictions that led to negative physical fitness, health behavior, psychological health, and general well-being. The mediating role of coping behavior must be identified before developing interventional strategies for this pandemic. Objective The study investigates the mediating role of coping behavior to mitigate the Coronavirus disease impact on physical fitness, health behavior, psychological health, and general well-being. Methods A web-based survey was used under convenience sampling to collect the primary data. Smart-PLS 3.0 was used to analyze the collected data. Results All 14 direct correlations (H1-H14) were correct, and coping behavior's mediating impact was shown to be statistically significant (H9a- H14d). Conclusion Our study findings indicate that mediating role of coping behavior in mitigating the pandemic impacts was statistically significant. It is concluded that coping behavior is a healthy adaptation to protecting the barrier against COVID-19 adverse effects on health.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Did living through the COVID-19 pandemic cause healthy college students to experience "pandemic-brain," a phenomenon characterized by difficulties with various cognitive abilities? Did students shift from deliberative to more impulsive decision making? PARTICIPANTS We compared a pre-pandemic sample of 722 undergraduate students to 161 undergraduate students recruited in Fall 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHOD We compared scores on the Adult Decision Making Competence scale among participants who completed the task pre-pandemic or across two time points in Fall 2020, during the pandemic. RESULTS Decision making was less consistent and more reliant on gain/loss framing during the pandemic compared to pre-pandemic, but college students were no less confident in their decisions. No significant changes in decision making occurred during the pandemic. CONCLUSIONS These decision making changes could increase the risk of making an impulsive choice with negative health consequences affecting demands on student health centers and imperiling learning environments.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Depression, anxiety, and burnout are an epidemic in the nursing profession. Unlike nurses in clinical settings, little is known about the mental health of doctorally prepared nursing faculty in academic settings, especially when separated by degree type (Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing [PhD] vs. Doctor of Nursing Practice [DNP]) and clinical or tenure track. AIMS The study aims were to: (1) describe the current rate of depression, anxiety, and burnout in PhD and DNP-prepared nursing faculty and tenure and clinical faculty across the United States; (2) determine if differences exist in mental health outcomes between PhD and DNP-prepared faculty and tenure and clinical faculty; (3) explore whether wellness culture and mattering to the organization influence faculty mental health outcomes; and (4) gain insight into faculty's perceptions of their roles. METHODS An online descriptive correlational survey design was used with doctorally prepared nursing faculty across the U.S. The survey was distributed to faculty by nursing deans and included: demographics; valid and reliable scales for depression, anxiety, and burnout; an assessment of wellness culture and mattering; and an open-ended question. Descriptive statistics described mental health outcomes; Cohen's d was used to determine effect sizes between PhD and DNP faculty for the mental health outcomes; and Spearman's correlations tested associations among depression, anxiety, burnout, mattering, and workplace culture. RESULTS PhD (n = 110) and DNP (n = 114) faculty completed the survey; 70.9% of PhD faculty and 35.1% of DNP faculty were tenure track. A small effect size (0.22) was found, with more PhDs (17.3%) screening positive for depression than DNPs (9.6%). No differences were observed between tenure and clinical track. Higher perceptions of mattering and workplace culture were associated with less depression, anxiety, and burnout. Identified contributions to mental health outcomes yielded five themes: lack of appreciation, role concerns, time for scholarship, burnout cultures, and faculty preparation for teaching. LINKING EVIDENCE TO ACTION Urgent action must be taken by college leaders to correct system issues contributing to suboptimal mental health in both faculty and students. Academic organizations need to build wellness cultures and provide infrastructures that offer evidence-based interventions to support faculty well-being.

Abstract
Despite many innovative ideas generated in response to COVID-19, few studies have examined community preferences for these ideas. Our study aimed to determine university community members’ preferences for three novel ideas identified through a crowdsourcing open call at the University of North Carolina (UNC) for making campus safer in the pandemic, as compared to existing (i.e. pre-COVID-19) resources. An online survey was conducted from March 30, 2021 –May 6, 2021. Survey participants included UNC students, staff, faculty, and others. The online survey was distributed using UNC’s mass email listserv and research directory, departmental listservs, and student text groups. Collected data included participant demographics, COVID-19 prevention behaviors, preferences for finalist ideas vs. existing resources in three domains (graduate student supports, campus tours, and online learning), and interest in volunteering with finalist teams. In total 437 survey responses were received from 228 (52%) staff, 119 (27%) students, 78 (18%) faculty, and 12 (3%) others. Most participants were older than age 30 years (309; 71%), women (332, 78%), and white (363, 83.1%). Five participants (1%) were gender minorities, 66 (15%) identified as racial/ethnic minorities, and 46 (10%) had a disability. Most participants preferred the finalist idea for a virtual campus tour of UNC’s lesser-known history compared to the existing campus tour (52.2% vs. 16.0%). For graduate student supports, 41.4% of participants indicated no preference between the finalist idea and existing supports; for online learning resources, the existing resource was preferred compared to the finalist idea (41.6% vs. 30.4%). Most participants agreed that finalists’ ideas would have a positive impact on campus safety during COVID-19 (81.2%, 79.6%, and 79.2% for finalist ideas 1, 2 and 3 respectively). 61 (14.1%) participants indicated interest in volunteering with finalist teams. Together these findings contribute to the development and implementation of community-engaged crowdsourced campus safety interventions during COVID-19.

Abstract
Universities are places to promote the wellbeing of people who learn, work, and live within them. This article reports on an innovative, holistic, and embedded wellness dog program that was developed by the Faculty of Nursing to support the wellbeing of students, faculty, and staff. The innovation included a collaborative partnership between two faculties (the faculties of Veterinary Medicine and Nursing), and the targeted purchase, training, and socialization of a wellness dog. Pet wellness programs have the potential to be an important mental health intervention on university campuses. While the program was postponed due to COVID-19, the purpose of this article is to share processes used to create the wellness dog program, with suggestions regarding implementation and evaluation.
