Abstract
Food and alcohol disturbance (FAD) refers to the intersection of alcohol- and eating-related motives and behaviors, such as restricting food intake before or during alcohol use to offset caloric intake or to enhance intoxication. Valid assessment is critical for advancing research on FAD. We tested the factor structure, group invariance, and concurrent validity of the College Eating and Drinking Behavior Scale (CEDBS) in a large college student sample (n = 2610; Mage = 20.95, SD = 4.65; 71.8% female; 77% White; 86% non-Hispanic). Participants completed measures assessing antecedents of alcohol use (i.e., protective behavioral strategies and drinking motives), negative alcohol-related consequences, alcohol use severity, and risk for eating disorder. The 3-factor model of the 21-item CEDBS provided an adequate fit to the data (e.g., CFI = 0.916). These factors include Alternative Methods (4 items; "Use laxative prior to drinking alcohol"), Offset Calories (7 items; "Restrict calories prior to drinking to help maintain your figure"), and Quicker Intoxication (10 items; "Not eating before drinking alcohol because it gives you the best buzz"). The CEDBS was scalar invariant across subgroups of participants based on age, sex, race/ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, and political orientation. Quicker Intoxication was most strongly related to risk factors and negative consequences for alcohol (r = 0.204-0.379, all ps < 0.01), and Offset Calories was most strongly related to risk for eating disorders (r = 0.349, p < .01). These findings further support the CEDBS to assess FAD among college students.

Abstract
Food and alcohol disturbance (FAD) is characterized by the association of alcohol use with compensatory behaviors such as restricting calories, physical activity and purging. Despite not being part of the current nosography, research has grown in the past 10 years, mostly on college students' samples. In this study, we aim to describe the prevalence, characteristics and association of FAD with problem drinking (PD) and eating disorder risk (EDR) in a sample of Italian high school students. Participants were 900 high school students (53.6% males; mean age = 16.22) that were administered standardized questionnaires. Students who screened positive for PD, EDR and both were, respectively, 17.3%, 5.9% and 1.3%. Approximately one out four students reported FAD behaviors, mostly to control weight and by restricting calories, with higher prevalence and severity among those who screened positive for PD. Purging behaviors were rare overall (15.5%), but significantly more frequent in participants who screened positive for both PD and EDR (41.7%). FAD was more strongly associated with alcohol use severity than with ED symptom severity across all subgroups. FAD behaviors appear to be common in the Italian high school population and more strongly associated with PD. Future studies should investigate FAD's impact on adolescents' functioning and possible early interventions.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE In recent years, women have significantly closed the alcohol use gender gap-and they are drinking more heavily now than in previous decades (Keyes et al., 2019). Furthermore, "wine-mom" culture (which promotes the use of alcohol to cope with the stressors of parenthood) has become increasingly prevalent in society and may be a factor in mothers' alcohol use. In the present study, we examined wine-mom-consistent drinking (whether one's alcohol use corresponds to that promoted by wine-mom culture) as a moderator in the relationship between psychosocial predictors (stress, body dissatisfaction) and alcohol-related outcomes (problematic alcohol use, food and alcohol disturbance-FAD). METHODS Participants were mothers (Mage = 40.18, SD = 8.28) recruited through Prolific from both the United States and the United Kingdom (n = 466; 50 % from the US and UK each); they completed the study via a Qualtrics survey. RESULTS In the models tested, stress interacted with wine-mom-consistent drinking in predicting FAD (alcohol effects and restriction dimensions), and body dissatisfaction interacted with wine-mom-consistent drinking in predicting the FAD restriction dimension. Compared to those who did not endorse wine-mom-consistent drinking, the relationship between the predictors and the FAD dimensions was stronger among participants who endorsed wine-mom-consistent drinking. Body dissatisfaction and wine-mom-consistent drinking also emerged as significant independent predictors in some of the models. CONCLUSION Wine-mom-consistent drinking is associated with problematic alcohol use and FAD among mothers. Further research is needed to better understand wine-mom culture and related psychosocial factors in mothers' drinking motives and behaviors.
