Abstract
With the continuous improvement of treatment strategy, the prognostic value of international prognostic index (IPI) alone is limited for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Our study aims to explore the effect of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH)to absolute lymphocyte count (ALC) ratio (LAR) and albumin to fibrinogen ratio (AFR) on the prognosis of patients with DLBCL. The venous blood LDH, ALC, albumin and fibrinogen within 1 week before the first chemotherapy in 74 DLBCL patients were collected to calculate the LAR and AFR values. The impact of LAR and AFR on the progression-free survival (PFS) of patients with DLBCL was studied by the survival analysis. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) and concordance index (C-index) were used to analyze the predictive efficiency of each model for the PFS of DLBCL patients. Cox univariate analysis suggested that elevated LAR (P < .001) and decreased AFR (P < .001) were risk factors for PFS in DLBCL patients. Multivariate analysis revealed that LAR (P < .001) and AFR (P = .004) were 2 independent prognostic parameters. The AUC values of IPI, AFR + IPI, LAR + IPI and AFR + LAR + IPI to predict the PFS of DLBCL patients were 0.806 (95%CI 0.707-0.905, P < .001), 0.839 (95%CI 0.747-0.932, P < .001), 0.851 (95%CI 0.764-0.938, P < .001), and 0.869 (95%CI 0.787-0.952, P < .001), respectively. The C-index values of above 4 models were 0.802 (95%CI 0.629-0.975, P < .001), 0.842 (95% CI 0.735-0.949, P < .001), 0.846 (95%CI 0.716-0.976, P < .001), and 0.864 (95%CI 0.781-0.941, P < .001), respectively. The results suggest that both LAR and AFR are independent prognostic factors for PFS in DLBCL patients. Furthermore, their combination with IPI has better predictive efficiency for the prognosis of DLBCL patients.

Abstract
Introduction Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is an aggressive malignancy of B-cells frequently encountered among people living with HIV. Immunological abnormalities are common in immunocompetent individuals with DLBCL, and are often associated with poorer outcomes. Currently, data on derangements of immunological proteins, such as cytokines and acute phase reactants, and their impact on outcomes in HIV-associated DLBCL (HIV-DLBCL) is lacking. This study assessed the levels and prognostic relevance of interleukin (IL)-6, IL-10 and Transforming Growth Factor Beta (TGFβ), the acute phase proteins C-reactive protein (CRP) and ferritin; serum free light chains (SFLC) (elevation of which reflects a prolonged pro-inflammatory state); and the activity of the immunosuppressive enzyme Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO)in South African patients with DLBCL. Methods Seventy-six patients with incident DLBCL were enrolled, and peripheral blood IL-6, IL-10, TGFβ, SFLC and IDO-activity measured in selected patients. Additional clinical and laboratory findings (including ferritin and CRP) were recorded from the hospital records. Results Sixty-one (80.3%) of the included patients were people living with HIV (median CD4-count = 148 cells/ul), and survival rates were poor (12-month survival rate 30.0%). The majority of the immunological proteins, except for TGFβ and ferritin, were significantly higher among the people living with HIV. Elevation of IL-6, SFLC and IDO-activity were not associated with survival in HIV-DLBCL, while raised IL-10, CRP, ferritin and TGFβ were. On multivariate analysis, immunological proteins associated with survival independently from the International Prognostic Index (IPI) included TGFβ, ferritin and IL-10. Conclusion Derangements of immunological proteins are common in HIV-DLBCL, and have a differential association with survival compared to that reported elsewhere. Elevation of TGFβ, IL-10 and ferritin were associated with survival independently from the IPI. In view of the poor survival rates in this cohort, investigation of the directed targeting of these cytokines would be of interest in our setting.

Abstract
Purpose This study aimed to examine the predictive ability of inflammatory and nutritional markers and further establish a novel inflammatory nutritional prognostic scoring (INPS) system. Patients and Methods We collected clinicopathological and baseline laboratory data of 352 patients with DLBCL between April 2010 and January 2023 at the First affiliated hospital of Ningbo University. Eligible patients were randomly divided into training and validation cohorts (n = 281 and 71, respectively) in an 8:2 ratio. We used the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) Cox regression model to determine the most important factors among the eight inflammatory-nutritional variables. The impact of INPS on OS was evaluated using the Kaplan-Meier curve and the Log rank test. A prognostic nomogram was developed based on the multivariate Cox regression method. Then, we used the concordance index (C-index), calibration plot, and time-dependent receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis to evaluate the prognostic performance and predictive accuracy of the nomogram. Results Seven inflammatory-nutritional biomarkers, including neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), prognostic nutritional index (PNI), body mass index (BMI), monocyte-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), prealbumin, C reactive protein, and D-dimer were selected using the LASSO Cox analysis to construct INPS, In the multivariate analysis, IPI-High-intermediate group, IPI-High group, high INPS were independently associated with OS, respectively. The prognostic nomogram for overall survival consisting of the above two indicators showed excellent discrimination. The C-index for the nomogram was 0.94 and 0.95 in the training and validation cohorts. The time-dependent ROC curves showed that the predictive accuracy of the nomogram for OS was better than that of the NCCN-IPI system. Conclusion The INPS based on seven inflammatory-nutritional indexes was a reliable and convenient predictor of outcomes in DLBCL patients.

Abstract
This review assesses how publications interpret factors that influence the serum or plasma albumin (PA) level in prognostic indices, focusing on inflammation and nutrition. On PubMed, a search for "albumin AND prognosis" yielded 23,919 results. From these records, prognostic indices were retrieved, and their names were used as search strings on PubMed. Indices found in 10 or more original research articles were included. The same search strings, restricted to "Review" or "Systematic review", retrieved yielded on the indices. The data comprised the 10 latest original research articles and up to 10 of the latest reviews. Thirty indices had 294 original research articles (6 covering two indices) and 131 reviews, most of which were from recent years. A total of 106 articles related the PA level to inflammation, and 136 related the PA level to nutrition. For the reviews, the equivalent numbers were 54 and 65. In conclusion, more publications mention the PA level as a marker of nutrition rather than inflammation. This is in contrast to several general reviews on albumin and nutritional guidelines, which state that the PA level is a marker of inflammation but not nutrition. Hypoalbuminemia should prompt clinicians to focus on the inflammatory aspects in their patients.

Abstract
Purpose We aimed to create a novel prognostic score, the inflammation-based prognosis score (IBPS). In addition, we attempted to establish and validate a nomogram to predict the overall survival (OS) of patients with DLBCL. Patients and Methods We retrospectively investigated the data of 213 patients with DLBCL diagnosed and treated in the Affiliated Hospital of Jiangnan University and used these data to develop nomograms. At the same time, 89 patients diagnosed and treated in Wuxi People's Hospital Affiliated with Nanjing Medical University from January 2015 to June 2021 were collected as an external validation cohort. We developed IBPS through the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) Cox regression. The univariate and multivariate Cox regression method was used to develop the nomogram. We used the concordance index (C-index), calibration chart, time-dependent receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis, decision curve analysis (DCA), and the Kaplan-Meier curve were used to assess the nomogram. Results The systemic immune inflammation index (SII), prognostic nutrition index (PNI), and modified Glasgow prognostic score (mGPS) were used to construct IBPS. The Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status (ECOG PS), IBPS, response to treatment, and whether accept surgery were used to construct the nomogram to predict the OS of DLBCL patients. The C-index in the training and validation cohorts were 0.844 and 0.828, respectively. According to the time-dependent ROC curve and DCA, the nomogram has good predictive accuracy and clinical net benefit. The Kaplan-Meier curve showed that according to the nomogram score, patients in the training and validation cohorts could be classified into three risk groups. Conclusion In patients with DLBCL, baseline IBPS was a reliable predictor of OS. The survival probability of DLBCL patients can be precisely predicted using the prognosis nomogram based on IBPS.

Abstract
Nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin lymphoma (NLPHL) is a rare lymphoma that has traditionally been considered a subgroup of Hodgkin lymphoma. However, morphology, surface marker expression, genetics, and clinical course are different from classic Hodgkin lymphoma. While most patients experience indolent disease with slow progression, some patients can also have more aggressive disease. Nevertheless, outcomes are excellent, and excess mortality due to NLPHL is at most very low. The treatment of newly diagnosed NLPHL has historically mirrored that of classic Hodgkin lymphoma. However, evidence for deviations from that approach has emerged over time and is discussed herein. Less evidence is available for the optimal management of relapsed patients. So-called variant histology has recently emerged as a biological risk factor, providing at least a partial explanation for the observed heterogeneity of NLPHL. Considering variant histology together with other risk factors and careful observation of the clinical course of the disease in each patient can help to assess individual disease aggressiveness. Also important in this mostly indolent disease are the preferences of the patient and host factors, such as individual susceptibility to specific treatment side effects. Considering all this together can guide individualized treatment recommendations, which are paramount in this rare disease.

Abstract
Background and Aim C-reactive protein (CRP) is a highly sensitive but non-specific acute phase protein that has been widely used to predict the biological behavior of patients with cancer. This study aimed to examine the significance of the serum CRP biomarker in predicting the prognosis of dogs with lymphoma. Materials and Methods Blood samples (5 mL) were collected from 34 lymphoma dogs and control healthy dogs. Canine lymphoma clinical staging was classified using the World Health Organization (WHO) criteria. All lymphoma dogs were reclassified into two groups based on the disease stage. Stages IV and V were designated as advanced stages, and Stages I-III were designated as other stages. The serum CRP level was then determined using a commercial canine CRP fluorescent immunoassay kit and routine hematological and biochemical analyses. C-reactive protein levels, circulating inflammatory parameters, such as neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio, and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio, and albumin levels were compared between advanced stages (IV and V) and Stages I to III using Mann-Whitney U tests. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were also generated to determine the cutoff value, diagnostic sensitivity, and specificity of the CRP level. Results A prospective study identified 34 dogs recently diagnosed with canine lymphoma. C-reactive protein levels were significantly higher in lymphoma dogs in advanced stages (IV and V) than in lymphoma dogs in Stages I-III. According to the ROC curve analysis, a CRP cutoff level of 54.1 mg/L indicates advanced-stage canine lymphoma, which can be used as a biomarker to predict cancer dissemination. Conclusion Serum CRP concentrations can assist clinical decision-making on the WHO stage in lymphoma dogs in clinical applications. The limitations of this study include a small number of lymphomas and no survival analysis.
