Abstract
BACKGROUND Limited studies have investigated the relationship between Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) and metabolic syndrome (MetS), yielding inconclusive results. This study aimed to examine the relationship between AMH levels and MetS and its components in women from a general population. METHODS This prospective study recruited 769 women. Generalized Estimating Equation (GEE) models analyzed longitudinal trends of MetS components. Cox proportional hazard models evaluated effect of age-specific AMH tertiles on MetS occurrence, adjusting for confounders. RESULTS The GEE analysis indicated that women in the third tertile exhibited higher mean FPG compared to those in the first tertile of age-specific AMH (3 mg/dL; 95% CI: 0.40, 5.60; P = 0.024); however, this association became non-significant after adjustment. Notably, the second tertile showed a significant decrease in FPG mean changes over time (-0.69 mg/dL; 95% CI: -1.31, -0.07; P Interaction = 0.030). Women in the second and third tertiles of age-specific AMH demonstrated lower mean HDL-C compared to the first tertile (-2.96 mg/dL; 95% CI: -4.67, -1.26; P < 0.001 and -2.63 mg/dL; 95% CI: -4.31, -0.96; P = 0.002, respectively). The association between HDL-C changes and the second tertile remained significant after adjustment (-1.91 mg/dL; 95% CI: -3.68, -0.14; P = 0.034). No significant associations were observed between age-specific AMH tertiles and TG and SBP/DBP. Cox models revealed no significant differences in the hazard ratio of MetS between AMH tertiles after adjusting for confounders. CONCLUSION Despite minor variations in MetS components, AMH levels did not affect MetS risk in women from a general population.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To examine the association between serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] levels and ovarian reserve as measured using antimüllerian hormone (AMH) levels. DESIGN Cross-sectional study. SETTING Detroit, Michigan area. PATIENTS Data were obtained from a prospective cohort of self-identified Black or African American women aged 23-35 years at the time of enrollment (N = 1,593), who had no prior diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome, were not currently pregnant, and were not missing AMH or 25(OH)D level measures. INTERVENTION Serum 25(OH)D. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE(S) The serum AMH level was the main outcome. Linear regression was used to examine the associations between categorical 25(OH)D levels (<12, 12-<20, 20-<30, and ≥30 ng/mL) and continuous natural log-transformed AMH levels. Associations between 25(OH)D and high (upper 10th percentile: >7.8 ng/mL) or low AMH (<0.7 ng/mL) levels were estimated with logistic regression. Models were adjusted for age, age-squared, body mass index (kg/m2), hormonal contraceptive use, smoking, and exercise. RESULTS The 25(OH)D levels were low; 70% of participants were below 20 ng/mL. In fully adjusted models, compared with 25(OH)D levels <12 ng/mL, those with 25(OH)D levels of 12-<20, 20-<30, and ≥30 ng/mL had an AMH level that was 7% (95% confidence interval [CI]: -4, 20), 7% {95% CI: -6, 22}, or 11% {95% CI: -7, 34} higher, respectively. Moreover, these groups had lower odds of having low AMH levels (odds ratio [95% CI]: 0.63 {0.40, 0.99}, 0.60 {0.34, 1.07}, and 0.76 {0.35, 1.65}, respectively), and the highest category of 25(OH)D levels had higher odds of having high AMH levels (odds ratio [95% CI]: 1.42 {0.74, 2.72}). Exclusion of participants with either irregular cycles or very high AMH (>25 ng/mL) levels did not alter the associations. CONCLUSION Taken together, these results indicate that higher levels of 25(OH)D are associated with slightly higher AMH levels, lower odds of low AMH levels, and higher odds of high AMH levels. This evidence is weak, however, because only a small percentage of participants had high 25(OH)D levels. Future studies should examine populations with a wide distribution of 25(OH)D levels (both high and low), with a clinical trial design, or with longitudinal measures of both 25(OH)D and AMH levels.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to examine the association of antimüllerian hormone (AMH) with concurrent and prospective measures of adiposity during approximately 9 years of follow-up. METHODS Participants were 697 parous women from the Project Viva prebirth cohort without polycystic ovarian syndrome. We measured AMH at approximately 3 years postpartum (baseline). Outcomes were weight, body mass index (BMI), and waist circumference assessed at baseline, 4, and 9 years later; % body fat was assessed by bioimpedance at the 4- and 9-year visit. We used linear mixed-effect models including all outcome time points and accounting for age across follow-up and hormonal contraception prescription. In an additional model, we further adjusted for height. RESULTS Median AMH was 1.97 ng/mL (interquartile range, 0.83-4.36 ng/mL), 29.1% had AMH <1.0 ng/mL, and mean age at AMH measurement was 36.7 years (SD, 4.9 y; range, 20-48 y). AMH was inversely associated with average weight, BMI, and waist circumference over follow-up. In age-adjusted models, women with AMH <1.0 versus ≥1.0 ng/mL were 4.92 kg (95% CI, 2.01-7.82 kg) heavier, had a 2.51 cm (95% CI, 0.12-4.89 cm) greater waist circumference, and a 1.46 kg/m 2 (95% CI, 0.44-2.48 kg/m 2 ) greater BMI across the 9 years of follow-up. Findings were similar after covariate adjustment and when AMH was modeled continuously. AMH was also inversely associated with higher fat mass %; however, the CI crossed the null. CONCLUSION Low AMH at baseline was associated with greater adiposity concurrently and across approximately 9 years of follow-up. Whether low AMH is a useful marker of metabolic risk across midlife requires further research.

Abstract
This study aimed to identify the correlation among anti-Mullerian Hormone serum levels and 25-OH-D, obesity, metabolic syndrome (MetS), and sexual hormones in climacteric women classified according to stages of reproductive aging (SRA). A cross-sectional study was conducted with a total of 177 Brazilian climacteric women between 40 and 64 years old. Concentrations of AMH were measured using the Access 2 Immunoassay System. A multiple linear regression analysis was used to identify the relationship among AMH, 25-OH-D, obesity, MetS, sexual hormones, sociodemographic and lifestyle factors. AMH levels decreased with increased age (B = - 0.059; p < 0.001), and reproductive aging (B = - 0.483; p < 0.001). Obesity indicators, lifestyle characters, 25-OH-D levels and MetS were not significantly associated with AMH serum concentration. Negative correlation was found for FSH (B = - 0.009; p < 0.001) and LH (B = - 0.006; p = 0.004); positive correlation for E2 (B = 0.001; p = 0.011), DHEAS (B = 0.003; p < 0.001) and SHBG (B = 0.003; p = 0.005). In the model adjusted for SRA, FSH levels (p < 0.001) and DHEAS (p = 0.014) were associated with AMH. Although, with the adjustment for age, only FSH remained with a significant association (p = 0.001). Of the other analytes, none was associated with AMH, regardless of the model fit. Our findings confirm that serum AMH level decreased with age and FSH levels, but there is no correlation between AMH with obesity, 25-OH-D, MetS or other sexual hormones in Brazilian climacteric women.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Recent studies revealed intriguing associations between cholecalciferol (D3) and reproductive functions. Seasonal changes of D3 concentrations are well known; however, they are not always considered in the context of reproductive functions. In this study, we analyzed D3 serum concentration in IVF/ICSI patients with respect to seasonal 3-month quartiles and anti-Muellerian hormone (AMH) referring to the impact on Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) outcome. MATERIALS AND RESEARCH METHODS We studied 469 female patients, presenting between 2012 and 2018 for ART treatment in our fertility center. D3 as well as the AMH serum concentrations were measured at the beginning of the follicle stimulation (days 3-5 of menstrual cycles). Results were evaluated with respect to seasonal quartiles and outcome of the ART cycles. RESULTS D3 concentrations showed significant fluctuations within annual quartiles with a pronounced peak in August-October and a minimum in February-April (26.0 vs. 20.5 mg/dl; p < 0.0001). Similar seasonal dynamics were found for AMH (2.98 vs. 1.78 ng/ml; p = 0.010) and these were associated with significantly shorter stimulation periods during August-October (11.29 vs. 12.12 days; p = 0.042), higher number of fertilized oocytes between August and October (6.23 vs. 4.97; p = 0.05) along with a trend towards higher numbers of cumulus-oocyte complexes. However, no such differences were found for the numbers of MII oocytes or pregnancy rates. CONCLUSION Our data indicate seasonal 3-month quartile variations of AMH concentrations and characteristics of ART, such as days of ovarian stimulation and number of fertilized oocytes. Highest AMH concentrations were found between August and October and this quartile was associated with highest D3 concentrations.

Abstract
Context: Evidence suggests that serum Vitamin D level influences female reproduction. However, clinical studies have reported conflicting evidence on the effect of serum Vitamin D levels on serum Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), with little evidence in African women. Aim: The study aimed to compare the relationship between serum Vitamin D and serum AMH among infertile and fertile women. Settings and Design: This comparative cross-sectional study analyzed data from 170 premenopausal women; 81 infertile, and 89 fertile women attending a Nigerian tertiary hospital between March and June 2019. Materials and Methods: Serum AMH and 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH) Vitamin D) concentrations were analysed using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Statistical Analysis: Statistical analysis was done using SPSS version 25 for windows. Categorical variables were summarized in frequencies and proportions while continuous variables were summarized in means ± standard deviation and median (interquartile range). The association was explored using linear regression. The level of significance was set at 0.05. Results: The prevalence of Vitamin D deficiency (<20 ng/ml) in infertile women and fertile women was 16% and 18%, respectively. There was no difference in serum Vitamin D levels between infertile and fertile women in this study after controlling for age and body mass index (BMI) (P = 0.186). There was no association between serum 25(OH) Vitamin D and serum AMH in infertile (B = 0.002; P = 0.474) and fertile women (B = ‒0.002; P = 0.522) after adjusting for age and BMI. Conclusion: Infertile and fertile women had similar serum Vitamin D levels and there was no relationship between serum Vitamin D and serum AMH in both infertile and fertile women.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Ovarian reserve reflects the quality and quantity of available oocytes and has become an indispensable measure for the better understanding of reproductive potential. Proteomic approaches are especially helpful in discerning differential protein expression patterns associated with normal and diseased states and, thus, proteomic analyses are increasingly used to identify clinically useful biomarkers. The aim of this study was to investigate proteins secreted in the urine of patients with different ovarian reserve by proteomic techniques to identify potential markers for assessing ovarian reserve. METHODS Urine samples were obtained from patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and diminished ovarian reserve (DOR), and from normal control (NC)participants. We used isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantification (iTRAQ) technology combined with mass spectrometry analysis to identify candidate urinary proteins in the three groups. The selected proteins were confirmed using western blot analysis and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Diagnostic performance of the selected proteins was assessed using receiver operating characteristic analysis. RESULTS When Compared with NC samples, 285 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) were identified in the DOR samples and 372 in the PCOS samples. By analyzing the intersection of the two groups of DEPs, we found 26 proteins with different expression trends in the DOR and PCOS groups. Vitamin D-binding protein (VDBP) was the key protein for the protein-protein interaction network. ELISA quantification of urinary VDBP revealed the highest levels in the PCOS group, followed by the NC group and the lowest levels in the DOR group (115.90 ± 26.02, 81.86 ± 23.92 and 52.84 ± 21.37 ng/ml, respectively; P < 0.05). As a diagnostic marker, VDBP had a sensitivity of 67.4% and a specificity of 91.8% for DOR, and a sensitivity of 93.8% and a specificity of 77.6% for PCOS. CONCLUSIONS Urinary VDBP is closely associated with ovarian reserve and can be considered as a novel noninvasive biomarker of ovarian reserve. However, studies including large sample sizes are needed to validate these results.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate whether trends of adiposity and glucose metabolism parameters in women with low ovarian reserve status based on their anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) levels differ from those with high ovarian reserve. METHODS In this population-based prospective study, eligible women, aged 20 to 50 years, were selected from among participants of the Tehran Lipid and Glucose Study (TLGS). Generalized estimating equation (GEE) models were applied to compare changes in various adiposity and metabolic parameters across time between women in the first and fourth quartiles of age-specific AMH, after adjustment for confounders. Pooled logistic regression was used to compare progression of prediabetes mellitus (pre-DM) and diabetes mellitus (DM) between the women of these two age-specific AMH quartiles. RESULTS In this study of a total of 1,015 participants and with a median follow-up of 16 years, we observed that over time, both groups of women in the first and fourth quartiles of age-specific AMH experienced significant positive trends in their adiposity indices including central obesity, waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), waist-to-height ratio (WHtR), a body shape index (ABSI), and a negative trend in visceral adiposity index (VAI), whereas there was no significant difference in these parameters between the two groups. This study revealed that odds ratios of diabetes and prediabetes in women in the first quartile of age-specific AMH were not significantly different, compared with those in the fourth quartile. CONCLUSION Women with lower ovarian reserve do not experience different over time trends of adiposity and glucose metabolism parameters during their reproductive life span.

Abstract
Accumulating evidence from animal and human studies indicates a role for vitamin D in female reproductive physiology, and numerous clinical studies have suggested its potential benefit for various aspects of human reproduction. Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is an ovarian biomarker that plays an important role in folliculogenesis. It is the most sensitive ovarian reserve marker and is widely used clinically in reproductive medicine. While initial studies have suggested that vitamin D may be associated with ovarian reserve markers, including AMH, evidence has been conflicting. Currently, there is considerable debate in the field whether vitamin D has the capacity to influence ovarian reserve, as indicated by the AMH level. The current systematic review aims to evaluate and summarize the available evidence regarding the relationship between vitamin D and AMH. In total, 18 observational studies and 6 interventional studies were included in this systematic review. Cross-sectional studies have reported largely discrepant findings regarding an association between serum vitamin D and AMH levels, which are likely due to the heterogeneity in study populations, as well as the apparently complex relationship that may exist between vitamin D and AMH. However, meta-analysis of interventional studies performed herein that examined the effects of vitamin D supplementation on serum AMH levels indicates a cause-effect relationship between vitamin D and AMH, the direction of which appears to depend on a woman’s ovulatory status. Serum AMH was significantly decreased following vitamin D supplementation in polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) women (standardized mean difference (SMD) −0.53, 95% CI −0.91 to −0.15, p < 0.007), while it was significantly increased following vitamin D supplementation in ovulatory women without PCOS (SMD 0.49, 95% CI 0.17 to 0.80, p = 0.003). In conclusion, the results of this systematic review demonstrate that the relationship between vitamin D and AMH is a complex one, and large, randomized trials of vitamin D supplementation focusing on different vitamin D status ranges are necessary to gain more insight into the nature of this relationship and the potential benefit of vitamin D to female reproduction in general.

Abstract
Vitamin D, an essential steroid hormone in the human body, plays an important role in not only the regulation of calcium and phosphorus metabolism, but also in various physiological processes, such as cell differentiation and apoptosis, inflammation, and insulin resistance. Vitamin D receptors are widely distributed in male and female reproductive systems, suggesting that vitamin D is essential for fertility. Because vitamin D deficiency is highly prevalent around the world, this review aims to discuss the potential functions of vitamin D in male and female reproductive systems and the associations between vitamin D and assisted reproductive technology (ART) outcomes. Vitamin D is involved in many physiological reproductive processes, including steroidogenesis, spermatogenesis, and acrosome reaction. It is correlated with sperm quality, ovarian reserve, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and endometriosis, among others. Controversial clinical findings on vitamin D levels and ART outcomes were revealed in this review, and demonstrations of efficacy for human fertility in randomized controlled trials of vitamin D supplementation are notably lacking. Thus, further studies are highly required involving molecular mechanisms among different species and human populations, as well as randomized controlled trials.

Abstract
Objective Our study aimed to investigate the relationship between polymorphisms (Apa1, Bsm1, Fok1, and Cdx2) in the VDR gene as well as AMH and AMHR2 genes and their influence on AMH and 25(OH)D levels in PCOS women. Study design Seventy-five patients with PCOS and 23 control women were included. Serum AMH and 25(OH)D levels in patients and controls were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Polymorphisms in VDR gene Fok1 C/T (rs2228587), Bsm1 A/G (rs1544410), Apa1 A/C (rs7975232), and Cdx2 A/G (rs11568820) polymorphisms as well as AMH G/T (rs10407022) and AMHR2 A/G (rs2002555) were analyzed using real-time PCR. Results Analysis of the VDR Cdx2 polymorphism showed a significantly higher frequency of the homozygous GG (mutant) genotype in the PCOS group as compared with the control group (p < 0.05). The analysis revealed a statistically significant correlation between the presence of FokI and ApaI polymorphisms and AMH levels in PCOS women (p < 0.05). The presence of mutant genotypes (CT, TT) in the Fok1 and (CA, CC) in the Apa1 polymorphisms were associated with higher AMH level in PCOS women (p < 0.05). No statistically significant correlations between AMH and AMHR2 polymorphisms and AMH level were found. Moreover, there was no correlation between AMH and 25(OH)D levels in the PCOS or in the control group. Conclusion It seems that the elevated AMH level is associated with VDR Fokl and Apal polymorphisms, but not with 25(OH)D levels in PCOS women. Further research is needed to determine the role of VDR polymorphism in AMH level in PCOS.

Abstract
Introduction
The aim of this study was to compare serum vitamin D and osteocalcin levels in non-osteoporotic postmenopausal women with and without metabolic syndrome and to analyze the relationship between serum vitamin D and osteocalcin levels and the relationships between these two factors and other clinical/biochemical parameters.
Material and Method
This cross-sectional study was carried out in 191 postmenopausal non-osteoporotic (T-score > − 2.5) women. Patients were divided into two groups according to the presence or absence of metabolic syndrome. Blood samples were obtained and evaluated for 25-hydroxyvitamin D, osteocalcin, insulin resistance (using a homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance), glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA
1c
), calcium, phosphorus, deoxypyridinoline, thyroid-stimulating hormone, lipid profile, fasting insulin, fasting glucose and HbA
1c
levels. Demographic and laboratory parameters were recorded for each woman.
Results
Vitamin D was found to be lower in women with metabolic syndrome compared to controls (16.1 ± 11.2 vs. 20.4 ± 13.1 mg/dL; p = 0.013). Similarly, osteocalcin was found to be significantly lower in the metabolic syndrome group compared to the control group (4.2 ± 2.1 vs. 5.5 ± 3.0; p < 0.001). A significant positive correlation was observed between vitamin D and osteocalcin levels (r = 0.198; p = 0.008). There was an inverse correlation between vitamin D and some of the lipid parameters. However, osteocalcin levels were negatively correlated with C-reactive protein, insulin resistance, and HbA
1c
in both groups (p = 0.003, p = 0.001 and p = 0.048, respectively).
Conclusion
Vitamin D deficiency is common in postmenopausal women, even in women who are non-osteoporotic. Serum levels of vitamin D are significantly decreased in cases with metabolic syndrome. Vitamin D may directly improve serum lipid profiles and may indirectly decrease insulin resistance and subclinical systemic inflammation through the impact on the metabolic functions of osteocalcin.

Abstract
Background Early natural menopause, the cessation of ovarian function before age 45 y, is positively associated with cardiovascular disease and other conditions. Dietary vitamin D intake has been inversely associated with early menopause; however, no previous studies have evaluated risk with regard to plasma 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] concentrations. Objective We prospectively evaluated associations of total and free 25(OH)D and vitamin D-binding protein (VDBP) concentrations and the risk of early menopause in a case-control study nested within the Nurses' Health Study II (NHS2). We also considered associations of 25(OH)D and VDBP with anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) concentrations. Methods The NHS2 is a prospective study in 116,430 nurses, aged 25-42 y at baseline (1989). Premenopausal plasma blood samples were collected between 1996 and 1999, from which total 25(OH)D and VDBP concentrations were measured and free 25(OH)D concentrations were calculated. Cases experienced menopause between blood collection and age 45 y (n = 328) and were matched 1:1 by age and other factors to controls who experienced menopause after age 48 y (n = 328). Conditional logistic regression models were used to estimate ORs and 95% CIs for early menopause according to each biomarker. Generalized linear models were used to estimate AMH geometric means according to each biomarker. Results After adjusting for smoking and other factors, total and free 25(OH)D were not associated with early menopause. Quartile 4 compared with quartile 1 ORs were 1.04 (95% CI: 0.60, 1.81) for total 25(OH)D and 0.70 (95% CI: 0.41, 1.20) for free 25(OH)D. 25(OH)D was unrelated to AMH concentrations. VDBP was positively associated with early menopause; the OR comparing the highest with the lowest quartile of VDBP was 1.80 (95% CI: 1.09, 2.98). Conclusions Our findings suggest that total and free 25(OH)D are not importantly related to the risk of early menopause. VDBP may be associated with increased risk, but replication is warranted.
