Abstract
Nanoplastics (NPs) and microcystin-LR (MC-LR) are two common and harmful pollutants in water environments, especially at aquafarm where are full of plastic products and algae. It is of great significance to study the toxic effects and mechanisms of the NPs and/or MC-LR on fish at the early stage. In this study, the embryo and larvae of a filtering-feeding fish, Aristichthys nobilis, were used as the research objects. The results showed that the survival and hatching rates of the embryo were not significantly affected by the environmental concentration exposure of these two pollutants. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observation displayed that NPs adhered to the surface of the embryo membrane. Transcriptomic and bioinformatic analyses revealed that the NPs exposure activated neuromuscular junction development and skeletal muscle fiber in larvae, and affected C5-Branched dibasic acid metabolism. The metabolic and biosynthetic processes of zeaxanthin, xanthophyll, tetraterpenoid, and carotenoid were suppressed after the MC-LR exposure, which was harmful to the retinol metabolism of fish. Excessive production of superoxide dismutase (SOD) was detected under the MC-LR exposure. The MC-LR and NPs coexposure triggered primary immunodeficiency and adaptive immune response, leading to the possibility of reduced fitness of A.nobilis during the development. Collectively, our results indicate that environmental concentration NPs and MC-LR coexposure could cause toxic damage and enhance sick risk in A.nobilis, providing new insights into the risk of NPs and MC-LR on filtering-feeding fish.

Abstract
Carotenoids are essential nutrients for humans and animals, and carotenoid coloration represents an important meat quality parameter for many farmed animals. Increasingly, studies have demonstrated that vertebrate carotenoid cleavage oxygenases (CCOs) are essential enzymes in carotenoid metabolism and are therefore potential candidate genes for improving carotenoid deposition. However, our understanding of carotenoid bioavailability and CCOs functions in invertebrates, particularly marine species, is currently quite limited. We previously identified that a CCO homolog, PyBCO-like 1, was the causal gene for carotenoid coloration in the 'Haida golden scallop', a variety of Yesso scallop (Patinopecten yessoensis) characterized by carotenoid enrichment. Here, we found that another CCO-encoding gene named PyBCO2 (β-carotene oxygenase 2) was widely expressed in P. yessoensis organs/tissues, with the highest expression in striated muscle. Inhibiting BCO2 expression in P. yessoensis through RNA interference led to increased carotenoid (pectenolone and pectenoxanthin) deposition in the striated muscle, and the color of the striated muscle changed from white to light orange. Our results indicate that PyBCO2 might be a candidate gene used for improving carotenoid content in normal Yesso scallops, and also in 'Haida golden scallops'.

Abstract
Fish and shellfish are important sources of high quality lipids, especially omega-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids. In most countries, seafood is eaten cooked to eliminate any potential parasites and pathogens. In addition, cold storage plays an important role in extending the shelf life of seafood. However, both cooking and storage processes can cause alterations in the lipid content and fatty acid profile of fish and shellfish. Although the lipid nutritional quality of fish and shellfish have recently been reviewed, these reviews mainly focus on raw seafood, and information on the impact of food processing on the lipid nutritional quality of fish and shellfish still lacks coherence. Therefore, this study was carried out to provides a critical reviews on the effects of food processing, especially cooking and cold storge, on the lipid nutritional quality of fish and shellfish. Overall, from the perspective of lipid nutritional quality, baking and steaming are the most recommended cooking methods for fish and shellfish, respectively, while it is strongly not recommended to fry seafood with margarine. For cold storage, 3 days and 2 weeks are the most recommended storage periods for refrigeration and frozen storage, respectively. This article can provides consumers with useful information to choose food preparation and storage methods based on their personal interest in specific lipid nutritional quality indicators.

Abstract
Coronary heart disease (CHD) is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Seafood, especially fish and shellfish, is a healthy food that reduces the risk of CHD. In many regions, seafood is consumed cooked to eliminate potentially pathogenic microorganisms. Although there have been many reports of culinary preparations causing changes in the fatty acid profile of fish and shellfish, this information has not been well organized, and most of it is not associated to CHD. Therefore, this study was conducted to study the effect of culinary treatments of seafood on lipid nutritional quality in relation to promotion/prevention of CHD. In this study, fatty acid profiles of fish and shellfish prepared with different culinary preparations were obtained from published literature. Lipid nutritional quality indices related to promoting/preventing CHD were calculated and analyzed to reveal the effects of culinary treatment on the lipid nutritional quality of fish and shellfish in promoting/preventing of CHD. The information in this article is very useful and can fill the knowledge gap of the effects of culinary preparation on the lipid nutritional quality of fish and shellfish. Such information is very useful for guiding consumers to choose better ways to cook fish and shellfish to reduce the risk of CHD.

Abstract
Radionuclide contamination in food is a public health issue. Bivalves are known to accumulate relatively high levels of radionuclides. Despite many relevant reports, this information is poorly organized. Therefore, in this study, we conducted a comprehensive scientific review of radionuclides in marine bivalves. In general, the accumulation of radionuclides in bivalves is highly species and tissue-specific, which may be due to the different biological half-life of radionuclides in different species and tissues. The trophic pathway is the main pathway for the accumulation of most radionuclides in bivalves, with polonium-210 (210Po) and lead-210 (210Pb) potentially selectively accumulating in the digestive glands, while 134Cs and 137Cs selectively accumulating in the adductor muscle and mantle. Some other radionuclides (radium-226 (226Ra) and strontium-90 (90Sr)) are absorbed along with other minerals (e.g. Calcium) and selectively accumulate in bivalve shells. The information in this study can provide an overview of radionuclide contamination in marine bivalves.

Abstract
Bivalves have high diversity, widely distributed in various aquatic environments, including saltwater, brackish water and freshwater. Bivalves are known to rich in polysaccharides and have wide applications in functional foods, pharmaceuticals, and industrial research. Despite many relevant reports are available, the information is poorly organized. Therefore, in this study, we conducted a comprehensive scientific review on the potential bioactivity of polysaccharides derived from bivalves. In general, the polysaccharides derived from bivalves possess various bioactive properties, including anticancer, antioxidant, anticoagulant and immunomodulatory activities. The bioactivity of these biomolecules highly depends on the bivalve species, extraction methods, purification methods, dosages, etc. The information in this study can provide an overview of the bioactivities of bivalve polysaccharides. This is very useful to be used as a guide for identifying the health benefits of polysaccharides derived from different bivalve species.

The Efficacy and Safety of Intravenous Iron in Geriatric Hip Fracture Surgeries: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. World J Surg 2022; 46:2595-2606. Abstract
BACKGROUND With the increasing evidence provided by recent high-quality studies, the intravenous iron appears to be a reliable therapy for blood administration in geriatric patients with hip fractures. Here, this systematic review and meta-analysis were aimed to assess the effectiveness and safety of intravenous iron in geriatric patients sustaining hip fractures. METHODS Potential pertinent literatures evaluating the effects of intravenous iron in the geriatric patients undergoing hip fractures were identified from Web of Science, PubMed, Embase, and Scopus. We performed a pairwise meta-analysis using fixed- and random-effects models, and the pooling of data was carried out by using RevMan 5.1. RESULTS Four randomized controlled trials and four observational studies conform to inclusion criteria. The results of meta-analysis showed that intravenous iron reduced transfusion rates compared to the control group, yet the result did not reach statistical significance. The intravenous iron was related to lower transfusion volumes, shorter length of stay, and a reduced risk of nosocomial infections. And there was no significant difference in terms of the mortality and other complications between the treatment group and the control group. CONCLUSION Current evidence suggests that intravenous iron reduces the transfusion volume, length of hospital stay, and risk of nosocomial infections. It takes about 7 days for intravenous iron to elevate hemoglobin by 1 g/dl and about 1 month for 2 g/dl. The safety profile of intravenous iron is also reassuring, and additional high-quality studies are needed.
