Abstract
Chronic heart failure is a terminal point of a vast majority of cardiac or extracardiac causes affecting around 1-2% of the global population and more than 10% of the people above the age of 65. Inflammation is persistently associated with chronic diseases, contributing in many cases to the progression of disease. Even in a low inflammatory state, past studies raised the question of whether inflammation is a constant condition, or if it is, rather, triggered in different amounts, according to the phenotype of heart failure. By evaluating the results of clinical studies which focused on proinflammatory cytokines, this review aims to identify the ones that are independent risk factors for heart failure decompensation or cardiovascular death. This review assessed the current evidence concerning the inflammatory activation cascade, but also future possible targets for inflammatory response modulation, which can further impact the course of heart failure.

Abstract
Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a chronic multifactorial pathology and a current and essential challenge for public health, with a negative impact on the geriatric patient's quality of life. The pathophysiology is not fully known; therefore, no specific treatment has been found to date. The increase in the number of newly diagnosed cases of KOA is worrying, and it is essential to reduce the risk factors and detect those with a protective role in this context. The destructive effects of free radicals consist of the acceleration of chondrosenescence and apoptosis. Among other risk factors, the influence of redox imbalance on the homeostasis of the osteoarticular system is highlighted. The evolution of KOA can be correlated with oxidative stress markers or antioxidant status. These factors reveal the importance of maintaining a redox balance for the joints and the whole body's health, emphasizing the importance of an individualized therapeutic approach based on antioxidant effects. This paper aims to present an updated picture of the implications of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in KOA from pathophysiological and biochemical perspectives, focusing on antioxidant systems that could establish the premises for appropriate treatment to restore the redox balance and improve the condition of patients with KOA.

Abstract
In a group of 208 patients with chronic ischaemic heart disease, the variation of A2-associated-LDL phosphatase (Lp-PLA2) serum concentration values was analysed in dynamics at a two-week interval. The conclusion of the study is that the values of serum concentration of Lp-PLA2 can be accepted as a biomarker with diagnostic specificity for chronic ischaemic heart disease, a parameter of real utility in medical practice, both in situations where the patient, although clinically reporting the existence of angina pectoris, does not show specific changes on an EKG, and for the assessment of the response to personalised therapy.

Abstract
Significance: Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is a heme peroxidase that is primarily expressed by neutrophils. It has the capacity to generate several reactive species, essential for its inherent antimicrobial activity and innate host defense. Dysregulated MPO release, however, can lead to tissue damage, as seen in several diseases. Increased MPO levels in circulation are therefore widely associated with conditions of increased oxidative stress and inflammation. Recent Advances: Several studies have shown a strong correlation between MPO and cardiovascular disease (CVD), through which elevated levels of circulating MPO are linked to poor prognosis with increased risk of CVD-related mortality. Accordingly, circulating MPO is considered a "high-risk" biomarker for patients with acute coronary syndrome, atherosclerosis, heart failure, hypertension, and stroke, thereby implicating MPO as a multifaceted target for cardiovascular protection. Consistently, recent studies that target MPO in animal models of CVD have demonstrated favorable outcomes with regard to disease progression. Critical Issues: Although most of these studies have established a critical link between circulating MPO and worsening cardiac outcomes, the mechanisms by which MPO exerts its detrimental effects in CVD remain unclear. Future Directions: Elucidating the mechanisms by which elevated MPO leads to poor prognosis and, conversely, investigating the beneficial effects of therapeutic MPO inhibition on alleviating disease phenotype will facilitate future MPO-targeted clinical trials for improving CVD-related outcomes.

Abstract
Various internal and external factors negatively affect the homeostatic equilibrium of organisms at the molecular to the whole-body level, inducing the so-called state of stress. Stress affects an organism's welfare status and induces energy-consuming mechanisms to combat the subsequent ill effects; thus, the individual may be immunocompromised, making them vulnerable to pathogens. The information presented here has been extensively reviewed, compiled, and analyzed from authenticated published resources available on Medline, PubMed, PubMed Central, Science Direct, and other scientific databases. Stress levels can be monitored by the quantitative and qualitative measurement of biomarkers. Potential markers of stress include thermal stress markers, such as heat shock proteins (HSPs), innate immune markers, such as Acute Phase Proteins (APPs), oxidative stress markers, and chemical secretions in the saliva and urine. In addition, stress biomarkers also play critical roles in the prognosis of stress-related diseases and disorders, and therapy guidance. Moreover, different components have been identified as potent mediators of cardiovascular, central nervous system, hepatic, and nephrological disorders, which can also be employed to evaluate these conditions precisely, but with stringent validation and specificity. Considerable scientific advances have been made in the detection, quantitation, and application of these biomarkers. The present review describes the current progress of identifying biomarkers, their prognostic, and therapeutic values.

Abstract
The study analyses the significance of the plasmatic values of the OPN dosed to 91 people suffering from diastolic cardiac dysfunction with preserved ejection fraction, thus revealing significant growths of its level compared to the normal value. Despite being a clinical research, its conclusions are a breakthrough, differing from the results of other studies published in the relevant medical literature. We can make this assertion because this study analyses the clinical information given by the circulating values of the OPN, based on experimental models (animals), or on patients with congestive heart failure, which can be identified with the existence of a low systolic flow. The results of our study allow us to assert that the plasmatic values of this glycoprotein lead to its acceptance in the medical practice as a new biomarker that provides indicators regarding the stratification of risk with the patients suffering from heart failure of the diastolic dysfunction type, but whose systolic flow is preserved.
