Abstract
INTRODUCTION Sarcomas, a group of neoplasms comprising both tissue and bone soft tissue tumors, has an increasing prevalence in recent years. Prognosis significantly hinges on early detection, and if not detected early, may consequently metastasize. This review will be the first systematic review and meta-analysis characterizing the presentation and progression of brain metastases from bone and soft tissue cancers. METHODS The PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases were queried to identify studies reporting the incidence of intracranial brain metastases from primary sarcoma to the present. Abstract and full-text screening of 1822 initial articles returned by preliminary search yielded 28 studies for inclusion and data extraction. Qualitative assessment of the studies was conducted in accordance with the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale criteria. Meta-analyses were applied to assess risk factors on outcomes. RESULTS The average age within the cohort was 27.9 years with a male and female prevalence of 59.1% and 40.9%, respectively. The odds ratio for living status (dead/alive) was calculated for several risk factors - male/female [OR 1.14, 95% CI 0.62, 2.07], single/multiple metastases [OR 0.67, 95% CI 0.35, 1.28], lung metastases/not [OR 1.63, 95% CI 0.85, 3.13], surgery/no surgery [OR 0.49, 95% CI 0.20, 1.21]. The standardized mean differences for duration from diagnoses to metastases were likewise analyzed - male/female [SMD 0.13, 95% CI -0.15, 0.42], single/multiple metastases [SMD 0.11, 95% CI -0.20, 0.42], lung metastases/not [SMD -0.03, 95% CI -0.38, 0.32], surgery/no surgery [SMD 0.45, 95% CI -0.18, 1.09]. The standardized mean differences for duration from metastases to death were analyzed - lung metastases/not [SMD 0.43, 95% CI -0.08, 0.95]. CONCLUSIONS Our study observed no statistically significant differences in mortality rate among several patient risk factors. Consequentially, there lacks a clear answer as to whether or not an association between mortality rates exists with these patient factors. As such, it is important to continue research in brain-metastasizing sarcomas despite their relative rarity.

Abstract
The Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR) prepares an annual set of summary slides to summarize the trends in transplantation and cellular therapies. For the first time in the 2023 summary slides, the CIBMTR incorporated data for patients receiving chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR-T) infusions. In addition, data on patient-reported outcomes (PROs) are included. In this report, we aimed to update the annual trends in US hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) activity and incorporate data on the use of CAR-T therapies. We also aimed to present and describe the development, implementation, and current status of PRO data collection. In August 2020, the CIBMTR launched the Protocol for Collection of Patient-Reported Outcomes Data (CIBMTR PRO Protocol). The CIBMTR PRO Protocol operates under a centralized infrastructure to reduce the burden to centers. Specifically, PRO data are collected from a prospective convenience sample of adult HCT and CAR-T recipients who received treatment at contributing centers and consented for research. Data are merged and stored with the clinical data and used under the governance of the CIBMTR Research Database Protocol. Participants answer a series of surveys developed by the Patient Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) focusing on physical, social and emotional, and other measures assessing financial well-being, occupational functioning, and social determinants of health. To complement traditionally measured clinical outcomes, the surveys are administered at the same time points at which clinical data are routinely collected. As of September 2023, PRO data have been collected from 993 patients across 25 different centers. With the goal of incorporating these important patient perspectives into standard clinical care, the CIBMTR has added the PRO data to Data Back to Centers (DBtC). Through expanding the data types represented in the registry, the CIBMTR aims to support holistic research accounting for the patients' perspective in improving patient outcomes. CIBMTR PRO data aim to provide a foundation for future large-scale, population-level evaluations to identify areas for improvement, emerging disparities in access and health outcomes (eg, by age, race, and ethnicity), and new therapies that may impact current treatment guidelines. Continuing to collect and grow the PRO data is critical for understanding these changes and identifying methods for improving patients' quality of life.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting is a serious complication of cancer treatment that compromises patients' quality of life and treatment adherence, which necessitates regular assessment. Therefore, there is a need to assess patient-reported nausea and vomiting using a validated scale among Arabic speaking cancer patient population. The objective of this study was to translate and validate the Functional Living Index-Emesis (FLIE) instrument in Arabic, a patient-reported outcome measure designed to assess the influence of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting on patients' quality of life. METHODS Linguistic validation of an Arabic-language version was performed. The instrument was administered to cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy in a tertiary hospital's cancer center in Saudi Arabia. RESULTS One-hundred cancer patients who received chemotherapy were enrolled. The participants' mean age was 53.3 ± 14.9 years, and 50% were female. Half of the participants had a history of nausea and vomiting with previous chemotherapy. The Cronbach coefficient alpha for the FLIE was 0.9606 and 0.9736 for nausea and vomiting domains, respectively, which indicated an excellent reliability for the Arabic FLIE. The mean FLIE score was 110.9 ± 23.5, indicating no or minimal impact on daily life (NIDL). CONCLUSIONS The Arabic FLIE is a valid and reliable tool among the Arabic-speaking cancer population. Thus, the Arabic version of the FLIE will be a useful tool to assess the quality of life among Arabic speaking patients receiving chemotherapy. Additionally, the translated instrument will be a useful tool for future research studies to explore new antiemetic treatments among cancer patients.

Abstract
This study investigated a remote symptom monitoring intervention to examine if
older participants with cancer received a similar magnitude of benefit compared
with younger adults with cancer. We analyzed a longitudinal symptom monitoring
intervention for 358 participants beginning a new course of chemotherapy
treatment in community and academic oncology practices. The study design was a
randomized control trial; participants were randomized to the intervention or
usual care, the intervention was delivered during daily automated coaching.
Older adults with moderate and severe symptoms derived similar benefit as those
adults younger than 60 years of age, adherence to the study protocol which
involved daily calls was high. There was no significant difference between the 2
age categories; on average, older adult participants made 88% of expected daily
calls and younger adult participants made 90% of expected daily calls. Our
results challenge the perception that older adults are unwilling or unable to
use a technological tool such as interactive voice response and suggest that
patient utilization may be guided by other factors, such as ease of use and
perceived benefit from the intervention.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW As more people live longer with cancer, the number of patients with cancer and multiple other chronic conditions (multimorbidity) has increased. The presence of multimorbidity impacts on all stages of cancer care, from prevention and early detection through to end of life care, but research into cancer and multimorbidity is in its infancy. This review explores the impact of multimorbidity on adults living with (and beyond) cancer, with particular attention paid to the role of primary care in supporting patients in this situation. RECENT FINDINGS Patterns of multimorbidity vary depending on cancer type and stage, as well as population characteristics and available data (e.g. number of conditions assessed). Cancer survivors are at increased risk of developing other chronic conditions, due to a combination of shared risk factors (e.g. smoking and obesity), effects of cancer treatments and psychosocial effects. SUMMARY Primary care has a central role to play in supporting multimorbid adults living with cancer, providing holistic care of physical and mental well being, while taking treatment burden and social circumstances into account. New models of person-centred and personalized cancer care include holistic needs assessments, care planning, treatment summaries and cancer care reviews, and depend on improved communication between oncologists and primary care colleagues.

Abstract
CONTEXT Patient-reported outcomes (PROs) are used in parallel with clinical evidence to inform decisions made by industry, clinicians, regulators, health technology assessment bodies and other health-care decision-makers. In addition, PRO data can also guide shared decision making and individual patient choice. Yet, the quality of many PROs in cancer clinical trials is suboptimal and requires improvement to add value to health care and policy decision making. OBJECTIVE To show how the integration of the patient and/or patient advocate at all stages of PRO development can help to realize the full potential of PROs. METHODS We examined the literature to show that the patient voice is often absent from the planning and implementation of PROs in cancer clinical trials. Good practice examples from the literature were combined with guideline recommendations, training or educational resources, and our own experience to create detailed practical steps for the inclusion of patients and/or patient advocates throughout PRO development. RESULTS Patient or patient advocates can play an active role in shaping PROs that are meaningful to the patient. They can contribute to content, choice of medium and implementation in a way that may support PRO completion and minimize missing data. Patients and their advocates can work to ensure PRO findings are disseminated appropriately in a way that is accessible to patients. CONCLUSION This practical guidance aims to optimize PRO development and implementation in clinical trials, resulting in robust, relevant data that reflect the patient experience and that support decisions made by all stakeholders involved in research and health care.

Abstract
The evidence that quality of life is a positive variable for the survival of cancer patients has prompted the interest of the health and pharmaceutical industry in considering that variable as a final clinical outcome. Sustained improvements in cancer care in recent years have resulted in increased numbers of people living with and beyond cancer, with increased attention being placed on improving quality of life for those individuals. Connected Health provides the foundations for the transformation of cancer care into a patient-centric model, focused on providing fully connected, personalized support and therapy for the unique needs of each patient.
Connected Health creates an opportunity to overcome barriers to health care support among patients diagnosed with chronic conditions. This paper provides an overview of important areas for the foundations of the creation of a new Connected Health paradigm in cancer care. Here we discuss the capabilities of mobile and wearable technologies; we also discuss pervasive and persuasive strategies and device systems to provide multidisciplinary and inclusive approaches for cancer patients for mental well-being, physical activity promotion, and rehabilitation.
Several examples already show that there is enthusiasm in strengthening the possibilities offered by Connected Health in persuasive and pervasive technology in cancer care. Developments harnessing the Internet of Things, personalization, patient-centered design, and artificial intelligence help to monitor and assess the health status of cancer patients. Furthermore, this paper analyses the data infrastructure ecosystem for Connected Health and its semantic interoperability with the Connected Health economy ecosystem and its associated barriers. Interoperability is essential when developing Connected Health solutions that integrate with health systems and electronic health records.
Given the exponential business growth of the Connected Health economy, there is an urgent need to develop mHealth (mobile health) exponentially, making it both an attractive and challenging market. In conclusion, there is a need for user-centered and multidisciplinary standards of practice to the design, development, evaluation, and implementation of Connected Health interventions in cancer care to ensure their acceptability, practicality, feasibility, effectiveness, affordability, safety, and equity.
