Abstract
In this work, a novel, simple, and quick capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) method was proposed for simultaneous analysis of benazepril (BEN) with other co-administrated antihypertensive drugs, amlodipine besylate (AML) and hydrochlorothiazide (HCT), using a diode array detector (DAD). A fused silica capillary (78.5 cm total length, 70 cm effective length, and 75 μm id) was used in separation using a 40 mM phosphate buffer pH 7.5 as a running background electrolyte (BGE) under a positive potential of 30 KV, at a stable temperature of 25 °C for capillary during separation. Hydrodynamic injections were performed for 12 s at 50 mbar, and detection was performed at 210 nm for AML and BEN, at 225 nm for HCT, and at 232 nm for xipamide (XIP) added as an internal standard (IS). Separation of the three analyzed drugs and the IS was performed in less than 8 min. Migration times were 4.06, 5.23, 6.69, and 7.3 min for AML, HCT, BEN, and XIP, respectively. The findings proved that the proposed method was linear in the range of 10–80 μg/mL for all drugs with correlation coefficients >0.9994. The limit of detection (LOD) values of AML, HCT, and BEN were 1.004, 1.224, and 0.896 μg/mL, respectively, whereas the limit of quantification (LOQ) values were 3.124, 3.727, and 2.749 μg/mL for the cited drugs, respectively. Peak identity and purity were confirmed by DAD. The developed CZE method was applied for the analysis of the three antihypertensive drugs successfully in their combined pharmaceutical tablets, and it can be used for the quality control of single-pill combination (SPC) samples of these drugs in short time.

Abstract
In this work, the electrochemical behavior of hydrochlorothiazide and pyridoxine on the ethylenediamine-modified glassy carbon electrode were investigated by differential pulse voltammetry. In pH 3.4 Britton-Robinson (B-R) buffer solution, both hydrochlorothiazide and pyridoxine had a pair of sensitive irreversible oxidation peaks, that overlapped in the 1.10 V to 1.20 V potential range. Under the optimum experimental conditions, the peak current was linearly related to hydrochlorothiazide and pyridoxine in the concentration range of 0.10-2.0 μg/mL and 0.02-0.40 μg/mL, respectively. Chemometrics methods, including classical least squares (CLS), principal component regression (PCR) and partial least squares (PLS), were introduced to resolve the overlapped signals and determine the two components in mixtures, which avoided the troublesome steps of separation and purification. Finally, the simultaneous determination of the two components in commercial pharmaceuticals was performed with satisfactory results.

Abstract
Partial least squares regression (PLSR) and support vector regression (SVR) are two popular chemometric models that are being subjected to a comparative study in the presented work. The comparison shows their characteristics via applying them to analyze Hydrochlorothiazide (HCZ) and Benazepril hydrochloride (BZ) in presence of HCZ impurities; Chlorothiazide (CT) and Salamide (DSA) as a case study. The analysis results prove to be valid for analysis of the two active ingredients in raw materials and pharmaceutical dosage form through handling UV spectral data in range (220-350 nm). For proper analysis a 4 factor 4 level experimental design was established resulting in a training set consisting of 16 mixtures containing different ratios of interfering species. An independent test set consisting of 8 mixtures was used to validate the prediction ability of the suggested models. The results presented indicate the ability of mentioned multivariate calibration models to analyze HCZ and BZ in presence of HCZ impurities CT and DSA with high selectivity and accuracy of mean percentage recoveries of (101.01±0.80) and (100.01±0.87) for HCZ and BZ respectively using PLSR model and of (99.78±0.80) and (99.85±1.08) for HCZ and BZ respectively using SVR model. The analysis results of the dosage form were statistically compared to the reference HPLC method with no significant differences regarding accuracy and precision. SVR model gives more accurate results compared to PLSR model and show high generalization ability, however, PLSR still keeps the advantage of being fast to optimize and implement.

Abstract
A new chemometric determination by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with photodiode array (PDA) detection was implemented for the simultaneous determination of naproxen sodium and pseudoephedrine hydrochloride in tablets. Three chemometric calibration techniques, classical least squares (CLS), principle component regression (PCR) and partial least squares (PLS) were applied to the peak area at multiwavelength PDA detector responses. The combinations of HPLC with chemometric calibration techniques were called HPLC-CLS, HPLC-PCR and HPLC-PLS. For comparison purposes the HPLC method called the classic HPLC method was used to confirm the results obtained from combined HPLC-chemometric calibration techniques. A good chromatographic separation between two drugs with losartan potassium as an internal standard was achieved using a Waters Symmetry C18 Column 5 microm 4.6+/-250 mm and a mobile phase containing 0.2 M acetate buffer and acetonitrile (v/v, 40:60). The multiwavelength PDA detection was measured at five different wavelengths. The chromatograms were recorded as a training set in the mobile phase. Three HPLC-chemometric calibrations and the classic-HPLC method were used to test the synthetic mixtures of naproxen sodium and pseudoephedrine hydrochloride in the presence of the internal standard. The HPLC-chemometric approaches were applied to real samples containing drugs of interest. The experimental results obtained from HPLC-chemometric calibrations were compared with those obtained by a classic HPLC method.

Abstract
A stability indicating reversed-phase HPLC method has been developed and subsequently validated for simultaneous estimation of amlodipine (AM) present as amlodipine besylate (AB), and benazepril hydrochloride (BH) from their combination product. The proposed RP-HPLC method utilizes a Zorbax SB C18, 5 microm, 250 mm x 4.6 mm i.d. column, mobile phase consisting of phosphate buffer and acetonitrile in the proportion of 65:35 (v/v) with apparent pH adjusted to 7.0, and UV detection at 240 nm using a photodiode array detector. AB, BH, and their combination drug product were exposed to thermal, photolytic, hydrolytic, and oxidative stress conditions, and the stressed samples were analysed by the proposed method. Peak homogeneity data of AM and BH peaks obtained using photodiode array detector, in the stressed sample chromatograms, demonstrated the specificity of the method for their estimation in presence of degradants. The described method was linear over a range of 6-14 microg/ml for AM and 12-28 microg/ml for BH. The mean recoveries were 99.91 and 100.53% for AM and BH, respectively. F-test and t-test at 95% confidence level were used to check the intermediate precision data obtained under different experimental setups; the calculated value was found to be less than critical value.

Abstract
The determination of furosemide and spironolactone in a capsule formulation has been investigated using techniques such as Vierordt's method and derivative spectroscopy dA/d lambda and d2A/d lambda2 applying the zero-crossing technique following reported methods. In our hands, using standard mixtures, these methods gave unreliable results. We have therefore investigated the use of ratio spectra derivative spectrophotometry for this determination. The technique of ratio spectra derivative spectrophotometry was developed in 1990, and has recently been used for a number of analyses of co-formulated products. The method was applied to the analysis of standard mixtures of the two drugs and the combined contents of 20 capsules resulting in values (mean +/- standard deviation) of 102.1 +/- 1.9% and 101.4 +/- 4.0% of the stated content for furosemide and spironolactone, respectively. Similarly, the analysis of individual capsules resulted in values of 101.5 +/- 1.6% and 102.2 +/- 1.4% of the stated content for furosemide and spironolactone, respectively.

Abstract
The present manuscript deals with a simple and sensitive flow-injection method for the chemiluminescent determination of thiazides. The method is based on the on-line photodegradation and chemiluminescent determination of the resulting photo-fragments. The on-line photodegradation is performed in basic medium by using a photoreactor consisting of a 550cm long x 0.8mm ID piece of PTFE tubing helically coiled around an 8W low-pressure mercury lamp. The determination of the photo-irradiated thiazides is performed by a chemiluminescent oxidative reaction with Ce(IV) in sulphuric acid medium. A heterogeneous group of thiazides (indapamide, metolazone, hydroflumethiazide, chlorthalidone and bendroflumethiazide) has been studied. Hydrochlorothiazide was selected as a test substance. The "on-line" photochemical reaction approach allows the sensitive chemiluminescent determination of thiazides which do not present native chemiluminescence in the absence of sensitizers such as Rhodamine 6G. Linear calibration graphs were typically over the range 0.5-12 microgml(-1) (indapamide, metolazone, hydroflumethiazide and chlorthalidone); and over the range 0.5-5 microgml(-1) (hydrochlorothiazide). Limits of detection ranged between 0.005 microgml(-1) (hydrochlorothiazide) and 0.06 microgml(-1) (bendroflumethiazide). The relative standard deviation for the test substance was 2.0% for 2 microgl(-1) of the drug (n = 11) and the throughput was 65 h(-1) in all cases. The assessment of the photodegradation step on the molecular structure of thiazides was established by recording UV and fluorimetric spectra. The viability of the on-line photoinduced fluorescent determination of hydroflumethiazide and bendroflumethiazide was confirmed. The method was also applied to the determination of hydrochlorothiazide in commercially available formulation.

Abstract
Spectrophotometric simultaneous determination of hydrochlorothiazide and spironolactone in tablets was performed by classical least-squares (CLS), inverse least-squares (ILS), principal component regression (PCR) and partial least-squares (PLS). The methods of the chemometric analysis do not require sample pretreatment procedure. A training set of 25 standard mixture containing both drugs was prepared in the concentration range of 2-20 mug/ml according to mixture design. The multivarate calibrations were obtained by measuring the zero-order and first-derivative absorbances at 15 points from 220 to 290 nm using the training set. The validation of the multivariate methods was realised by analysing the synthetic mixtures of hydrochlorothiazide and spironolactone. The result obtained on the synthetic mixture and tablets were statistically compared by the one-way ANOVA test. The chemometrics analysis methods were satisfactorily applied to the simultaneous determination of hydrochlorothiazide and spironolactone in the pharmaceutical tablet formulation.

Abstract
Four chemometric methods were applied to simultaneous determination of cilazapril and hydrochlorothiazide in tablets. Classical least-square (CLS), inverse least-square (ILS), principal component regression (PCR) and partial least-squares (PLS) methods do not need any priori graphical treatment of the overlapping spectra of two drugs in a mixture. For all chemometric calibrations a concentration set of the random mixture consisting of the two drugs in 0.1 M HCI and methanol (1:1) was prepared. The absorbance data in the UV-Vis spectra were measured for the 15 wavelength points (from 222 to 276 nm) in the spectral region 210-290 nm considering the intervals of deltalambda = 4 nm. The calibration of the investigated methods involves only absorbance and concentration data matrices. The developed calibrations were tested for the synthetic mixtures consisting of two drugs and using the Maple V software the chemometric calculations were performed. The results of the methods were compared each other as well as with HPLC method and a good agreement was found.
