Hydrolysis of Letrozole catalyzed by macrocyclic Rhodium (I) Schiff-base complexes

Ten mononuclear Rhodium (I) complexes were synthesized by macrocyclic ligands having N4 and N2O2 donor sites. Square planar geometry is assigned based on the analytical and spectral properties for all complexes. Rh(I) complexes were investigated as catalysts in hydrolysis of Nitrile group containing pharmaceutical drug Letrozole. A comparative study showed that all the complexes are efficient in the catalysis. The percent yields of all the catalytic reaction products viz. drug impurities were determined by spectrophotometric procedures and characterized by spectral studies.

Synthesis of N₄ donor macrocyclic Schiff base ligands and their Ru (II), Pd (II), Pt (II) metal complexes for biological studies and catalytic oxidation of didanosine in pharmaceuticals

A series of tetraaza (N(4) donor) macrocyclic ligands (L(1)-L(4)) were derived from the condensation of o-phthalaldehyde (OPA) with some substituted aromatic amines/azide, and subsequently used to synthesize the metal complexes of Ru(II), Pd(II) and Pt(II). The structures of macrocyclic ligands and their metal complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, IR, (1)H &(13)C NMR, mass and electronic spectroscopy, thermal, magnetic and conductance measurements. Both the ligands and their complexes were screened for their antibacterial activities against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria by MIC method. Besides, these macrocyclic complexes were investigated as catalysts in the oxidation of pharmaceutical drug didanosine. The oxidized products were further treated with sulphanilic acid to develop the colored products to determine by spectrophotometrically. The current oxidation method is an environmentally friendly, simple to set-up, requires short reaction time, produces high yields and does not require co-oxidant.

Synthesis, spectral and antibacterial sudies of copper(II) tetraaza macrocyclic complexes

A novel family of tetraaza macrocyclic Cu(II) complexes [CuLX(2)] (where L = N(4) donor macrocyclic ligands) and (X = Cl(-), NO(3) (-)) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, magnetic moments, IR, EPR, mass, electronic spectra and thermal studies. The magnetic moments and electronic spectral studies suggest square planar geometry for [Cu(DBACDT)]Cl(2) and [Cu(DBACDT)](NO(3))(2) complexes and distorted octahedral geometry to the rest of the ten complexes. The biological activity of all these complexes against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria was compared with the activity of existing commercial antibacterial compounds like Linezolid and Cefaclor. Six complexes out of twelve were found to be most potent against both gram-positive as well as gram-negative bacteria due to the presence of thio group in the coordinated ligands.

Ru(II) complexes of N4 and N2O2 macrocyclic Schiff base ligands: their antibacterial and antifungal studies

Reactions of [RuCl2(DMSO)4] with some of the biologically active macrocyclic Schiff base ligands containing N4 and N2O2 donor group yielded a number of stable complexes, effecting complete displacement of DMSO groups from the complex. The interaction of tetradentate ligand with [RuCl2(DMSO)4] gave neutral complexes of the type [RuCl2(L)] [where L=tetradentate macrocyclic ligand]. These complexes were characterized by elemental, IR, 1H, 13C NMR, mass, electronic, thermal, molar conductance and magnetic susceptibility measurements. An octahedral geometry has been proposed for all complexes. All the macrocycles and macrocyclic Ru(II) complexes along with existing antibacterial drugs were screened for antibacterial activity against Gram +ve (Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus) and Gram -ve (Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumonia) bacteria. All these compounds were found to be more active when compared to streptomycin and ampicillin. The representative macrocyclic Schiff bases and their complexes were also tested in vitro to evaluate their activity against fungi, namely, Aspergillus flavus and Fusarium species.

These compounds were characterized by elemental, IR, (1)H, (13)C NMR, mass, electronic spectral analysis, molar conductance and magnetic susceptibility measurements. Thermal behavior of these compounds has been studied by the thermogravimetric analysis. An octahedral geometry has been proposed for all of these complexes. All the macrocycles and macrocyclic Co(II) compounds along with existing antibacterial drugs were screened for antibacterial activity against Gram +ve and Gram -ve bacteria. All these compounds were found to be more active when compared to streptomycin and ampicillin.

Metal ion-directed synthesis of 16-membered tetraazamacrocyclic complexes and their physico-chemical studies

Complexes of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) containing macrocyclic tetradentate nitrogen donor (N4) ligand have been synthesized from the template condensation reaction between o-phthalaldehyde and o-phenylenediamine. The newly synthesized ligand and its complexes have been characterized on the basis of results of elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements, FT-IR, electronic, 1H FT NMR spectral data and Job's method. Their thermal behaviour has been studied by the thermogravimetric analysis. An octahedral geometry has been proposed for all of these complexes except the copper complexes, which show distorted octahedral geometry. The low conductivity data suggest their non-ionic nature. The biological activities of the metal complexes have also been studied against different bacteria.
